Jones Amplifiers VK410

Made in 2006 by Don Jones. He custom built this cabinet to go with my KL-50 head with matching green lizzard tolex (the last in the world perhaps) and Fender style oxblood grille cloth. I supplied 4 8 ohm Jensen MOD speakers for the tone factor. I play blues and rock primarily so this choice works for my taste. Wired 8 ohms with daisy chain jack. The rear loaded speaker panel is sloped back from bottom to top and cabinet back is closed. Pine construction for tone factor. Strong strap handle on top and chrome corner caps for looks & protection. Rubber feet & no wheels.

I play a variety of guitars, Fender Strats and Strat types, vintage style Les Paul types (junior, standard & deluxe), SGs and Teles. Even a Firebird. As I mentioned earlier, I play blues and rock (hard & classic) primarily. This cabilnet delivers the tone it was designed for without question. No nasty suprises. I like 10" speakers for the tight response and the cabinet matches up well with that concept. Nice & clean at lower vloumes and breaks up nicely when pushed. Delivers the warm tube sound well.

Construction is totally solid but doesn't break my back to carry it. It's 11" deep and slightly smaller than a half stack. The amp head sits perfectly on it and it seems totally dependable. 100% gig-able. Looks very distinctive; I'd have the lighting guy put a spot on it!

As any other review will reflect, Don Jones is simply the best. Describe what you want and he delivers. He stands behind his work 100%. Jonesy asked what speakers I was going to put in it and he designed the cabinet around them. I brought him the speakers and he mounted them in it for me.

I've been playing off and on for nearly 40 years (God! Has it really been that long???). I had purchased an Audiozone cabinet that was too big & bulky but had the Jensen MODs in it. Don made the rig look 100% better as it matches the head and easier to move around by trimming down the size. Heaven help the fool who steals it (though they will probably wind up elsewhere). I would definitly try to replace it. Designed and constructed by a musician who's been there, done that. The cosmetics of the tolex aren't perfect as some dirt shows in the edges where it got into the glue. Minor in my book but may put off a perfectionist. Better than the Audiozone fit & finish though, to be fair.

The VK410 is the latest amp from the brain child of Don Jones. It features 6g15 reverb,tremolo,effects loop with a level control on front,a tuner out and 45watts of 6l6 power. Inspired by what he liked about the Vibro King and a few twists of his own. If you like tone to the bone this amps got it.

I recently attended a blues jam using a PRS Custom 22 playing slide. The amp set on 6,tone set for some mid boost and recreated the singing tone of Duane Allman. Another player using a Strat nailed the Hendrix tone for Little Wing. The amp is very clean but when pushed to 8 has great natural tube overdrive. If you want more distortion use a box. The reverb was the most sparkling I call it chicken skin. Very lush.

This Amp is built very solid,Turret board constrution using high quality parts.Don has built some of the most reliable amps in this part of the woods.

Don has not forgotten the IMPORTANCE of customer service.Warranty is Five years.

I've been a player for some 30 years as well as a guitar tech for 25.I have used several Jones amps over the years because he custom builds them for the music I play. I've also seen and heard Don's Marshall jtm45 clones that are awesome. If you can describe the tone you want Don can nail it.
