Extra long leads, moderate sized body and plain yellow cover. Who cares about looks when the tone is what its all about?
Made in the USA!

Sound Quality : 10
These are the finest coupling cap I have ever used in my amps. These are the ONLY coupling caps I will use in my amps!
They produce great overtones, warmth and all of the juicy harmonics you'd expect from you amp. Your amp actually breathes with these caps.

Chris at Jupiter Condenser and Paul at Specialty Guitars worked together to develop a great sounding coupling capacitor that was modeled after the classic yellow Astrons. Great job guys!

Reliability : 9
They are fairly new. So far so good. I haven't have one fail yet.

Customer Support : 10
Paul is the man! He's a great guy and is prompt on shipping.

Overall Rating : 10
If I had three thumbs, it would be a triple Fonzy! They're a little more than most caps. But these are custom made in the USA. They are worth the money. How much is your tone worth?

I'll give them a 10 here for the axial design and the long leads. They fit a Fender board like Leo intended that they should.

Sound Quality : 10
I used a freshly serviced and re-tubed '71 Twin for a test bed, and tried the original dull reddish-brown caps, the Xicon MPP series, 715P Orange Drops, the Mallory PVC series and the Jupiters. The Xicons and the Mallorys were a bit of an improvment over the stock caps, I didn't like the Orange Drops at all, and the Jupiters were the best of the bunch. I'm not good at putting tone into words, so I won't try. I will say, though, that the difference was noticeable. Not as much as a speaker change, for example, but more than a change of preamp tubes.

Reliability : No Opinion
As long as they don't start leaking or otherwise fail electrically, I can't imagine that they wouldn't be in the amp long after I can't play any more.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No opinion - haven't required any.

Overall Rating : 10
I've read a bunch of discussions on the 'net about coupling caps in tube amps, and it seems the only common thread was a lack of consensus. I guess I can understand that now, because evn though the tone with the Orange Drops was more objectionable to me, you could still lump them in with the rest and say there really wasn't a huge difference from one type to another. I couldn't say that about the Jupiters, though. You could definitely hear the improvement in tone.

They are coupling caps designed like the vintage Astron / Sprague caps used in vintage USA made guitar amps (tweed and brown face & blackface Fenders, and Gibson among others) These are Made In The USA, a rare thing these days. The majority of parts used in amps today are made in China. Some people will say that there is no electrical difference and thus they will sound the same, I say hogwash. Buying USA made parts is an ethical, as well as a parts quality decision for me. But the bottom line is that these caps
sound great in my guitar amps.

Sound Quality : 10
For vintage tube guitar amps circuits, I don't think you'll find a better new production cap available. These caps nail the vintage sound and response of the old Astrons and Sprague. The closest thing I can compare them to is the blue molded Sprague caps I've taken out of a 1966 Blackface Super Reverb (yes, I put them back). I've used the Jupiter caps in 3 amps that I have built, a 5E5A Pro circuit, A 5C3 Deluxe circuit, and a 5C1 Champ circuit. In the 5E5A Pro I originally used Orange Drop caps. I played hundreds of gigs on this amp over a two year period. It always sounded great, and I always received compliments on the tone, but to me there was always a bit of graininess in the sound. After installing the Jupiter caps, the difference was dramatic, not only did the Pro sound warmer, and sweeter (think more harmonics), it actually had a bit more gain to it. The Jupiter caps really made an amp that was great sounding to begin with sound "even better". The upgrade to the Jupiter caps in my other two amps yielded similar results. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my tweed Champ and Deluxe circuits sounded and responded more like "Old Fenders" A lot of people swear by the $10 - $20 foil in oil caps. I've always thought that these sounded "to clean" for guitar amps. Certainly they sound great in a tube stereo amp, but I've found that they are very sterile sounding in guitar amps. Don't fall for the hype on oil caps, you won't find them in any old vintage guitar amps. What you will find are caps that the Jupiter caps were designed around. Check them out, you won't be sorry!

Reliability : 10
They are coupling caps, and they are made in the USA, they will probably out-live me...

These caps have been developed by Paul @ Specialty Guitars, and are available only through him. It's been a pleasure to talk about amps with him. I have had the opportunity to visit his shop, and can tell you that he has a genuine love for electric guitars and tube amps, and his enthusiasm is infectious. Ordering parts from him online has been easy and trouble free, and he is diligent about shipping items.

I've been playing guitar for 30+ years. I build my own tube amps and do most of my guitar work, including re-finishing. I've also been recording music since the days of ADAT, and have engineered and produced CD's for local musicians throughout the last 15 years. These caps were really the "missing ingredient" that I believe made all my amps sound better. And in better I mean: a warmer / tighter low end and a sweeter more harmonically rich top end. I also found that the gain sounded a little better to me, probably from a more harmonically rich top end. I'm not an electrical engineer, and don't ever profess to be one, but I can tell you as a mature player who knows good tone (Tele/Strat/Les Paul Standard-Tweed Deluxe-No Pedals-riding the volume knob), that these caps sound great. You certainly owe it to yourself to give them a try!

Jupiter Condenser Vintage Tone Astron/Sprague Style Film and Foil Coupling Capacitor - axial leads, small size, perfect.

Sound Quality : 10
Replaced the Mallory's in a recent issue Gibson GA5 with the Jupiters and after a few hours of playing the amp's tone got noticeably warmer and organic, particular smooths out the tube overdrive at higher volumes.

Reliability : 10
Look like they'll stand the test of time.

Paul at SpecialtyGuitars know how to take care of his customers.

Suffice to say that now all my tube amps sport Jupiter coupling caps, and all have improved tone as the result. Wish I knew about these little gems sooner!

Features : 10
reasonable size compared to other high end tone caps, fit in my fender board with absolutely no issues

Sound Quality : 10
I replaced all the caps in the 3 values currently offered in my Blackface Super Reverb build. The tonal improvement was immediately noticeable and amazing, brittle clarity, perfectly clean. Smooth grind with amp above 7. This is a stock build, no hotswitches, no Master Volume.

Reliability : 10
well constructed, good lead size, do not foresee any issues

Customer Support : 10
best internet service. immediate email responses and same day shipping

Overall Rating : 10
I've installed other High End Caps in Guitar Amps before, (the $10-12 variety) only to remove them poste-haste. Too sterile. These make an AB763 board sound like a 60's amp. And I do own an all original 60's Deluxe Reverb. Full of warmth and rich tone, clear highs, etc.
