This amp kit is available from Kendrick and it has two channels, reverb and is capable of a host of sounds. It doesn't have channel switching and the footswitch only switches the reverb.. no effects loop. This amp can use a variety of output tubes and I have it populated with 2 EL34's. It is based on vintage designs and the features match this philosophy. This is subjective and it has the features I was looking for with the exception of a solid state rectifier.

I have tele, strat, les paul, mosrite and all sound great thru the amp. The Humbucking equipped guitars sound a little fuller. Clean channel is very clean like early fender twin or Vox AC30 chime. Lead channel can be muddied for that SRV sound. Very versatile.

I built this myself and the components supplied are very robust. This is not a kit for a beginner because you are not given step by step instructions. You are given schematics, pictures of the finished assemblies and a layout schematic. I have alot of electronics experience and did not find that a problem but I would suggest an easier kit for a first timer.

Gerald Weber is great to deal with and I was missing some parts and they were immediately sent. The amp face plates are cheap and not worthy of this amp (I had some made up professsionally). Since I did not have any problems except parts I have no idea what would happen if I did but from the quick responses by Gerald himself I believe he would have done whatever it took to make right. Before I bought this kit he tried to talk me into starting with an easier project but I assured him I had the electronics background so he was interested in success and not just a sale.

This is a great sounding amp with Fender, Marshall and Vox sounds. If it was stolen I'd build another and I am charged up to build more amps, tube reverbs etc. This was a great experience that took me about 1 week of work because I really double checked my work and checked everything with the schematics. I built my own cabinet and used Eminence Red Fang speakers. If your adventurous I highly recommend. This is a boutique amp for a mass produced price. It uses cloth wire, point to point wiring and great components.
