built in nov. 06', two channels, single volume knob, JJ-el34 output tube, 10" speaker, wrapped in tweed. cathode biased. considering you can swap so many different output tube types with no biasing required I would call it versatile. Built well with heavy duty parts.

Sounds great! I get a whole lot more than just blues out of this thing. I like the el34 output tube I put in it but you can use almost any 7 pin type for other sounds. Simple as a light bulb change.
I get multiple good classic rock and blues tones. I can even get some awesome ac/dc rythym sounds out of it. I play with a lefty don grosh retro with lindy fralin blues special single coils.
With nothing but the amp and guitar I get an amazing variety of dirty and semi dirty tones simply by using different pickups and volume levels.
This amp is truly a raw saturated little beast. It is Very touch sensitive and takes quite a while to master because it blows away what you are used to. It reminds me of a clutch the way it feels. You have that much control.
I would not reccomend it for clean tones at all though. It is a rock and roll amp all the way.

I did have one serious problem with the amp. The stock 6550 output tube went bad for some reason like 3 days after I got the amp. It produced some nasty sounds that damaged the voice coil on the speaker before I could turn it off. I swapped the tube but the speaker gradually sounded worse over a month or so until I sent the amp back.
Gerald was not too happy about hearing it was broken, but he was ok to me and fixed it very quickly for free. We met halfway on the shipping so I felt ok about it.
He put in a nice jj el34 for me (free also) and that was almost a year ago. No more problems yet and hopefully never. I play it a LOT too! It likes to be cranked up.
I give him a fair rating here because that was sed's fault they sold him a weak tube, and he fixed the mess to my satisfaction. I love the amp and in fact just ordered a black gold 5.
Kendrick Is not cheap to deal with but they build a good product and know what the hell they are doing. I wish the warranty was for longer than a year though. It was an expensive amp!

I have found it to be pleasent to deal with Gerald Weber. Kendrick is a family owned business and I get the personal attention only they can offer.
He seemed a little unhappy about my amp being broken (I think he was worried about what the bad tube burned up besides the speaker, but was relieved when it was discovered just the speaker was bad) He was fine about helping fix it and fast.
The rest of the staff was pretty nice too.
Michael Swart and Don Grosh are the only other guys I have had treat me this good.

12 years now on guitar and I know what I like. This amp I like very, very much. I sold my dr.z real quick after getting this thing.
I am exclusively on kendrick amps now. They just sound and feel the best to me.
If someone stole it you ask? They better hope and pray I never hear they took or had it! Then I would go steal it back or have to kick someones ass or maybe both, And hell yes I would have to have another if it was gone for good.
I just wish it was cheaper but I did get a very nice amp.

This Kendrick roughneck is a 1999.(new). I play blues. This amp is what I have been waiting for. I got mine with the optional 10" speaker, no regrets there. This amp requires no pedals. It will break up very nicely. It has only one knob, which is a vol./on-off, all in one. Only one channel with a #1,#2 inputs. The amp does have a line out. I use this at home, but could play out with it in a small club. I kind of wish the amp was a 8 watt, but you can't have everything I guess.

I use single coils, and humbuckers.(G&L skyhawk, F-100). I play blues, and in the living room with my keyb. for recorded back-up, this amp is it. Blues, blues, blues. The amp is quiet at all volumes. There is not much variety with this amp. It pretty much does one thing, but ohhhhhh, that thing it does. It starts to break up after 5 on the vol. I have had tweed champs, Kendrick 118 champ style, and others, but this amp, for me, does it better than the rest. It has a lot of breakup, but with the 10" spk., the breakup is great. This amp is very touch sensitive. I really doubt that I will sell this one.

I just bought it, so I can't say with any experience. But, I will say I doubt that I'll have much trouble with it. Its looks and feels as solid as a rock.

The warranty is for a year, 6 months for tubes(I think). I have ask a lot of questions with the Kendrick company. They have always been very polite, and have answered all my questions. I have never had any outside work or repairs done by Kendrick.

I have been playing guitar off, and on for over 30 years. I also own a Princeton rev., and a Deluxe rev.ll. If it was lost or stolen, I would buy it again in a second, but I won't be able to, because Kendrick has stopped making it, and they have no more. I like everything about this amp, including its killer looks! What a looker this little thing is.(real nice). It does what I want it to, and more. Just great tone from this little puppy. I have had other small amps that I have loved, like the tweed champ, Kendrick 118., but this amp is the one I would choose for what I like in a small amp.
