This is a somewhat no frills amp, but I am sure that keeps the cost down. Nothing wrong with that. With that said, its features are plenty. It has 3 channels and built in spring reverb, which are switchable with the included footswitch. It also has seperate master volumes for rhythm and lead (also switchable with footswitch) which I imagine would be quite useful live. Has a variety of speaker outputs (4 Ohm, 8 Ohm, 16 Ohm), and has a direct cabinet emulated output. Also has this switch (forget the name) that affects speaker loading. This switch will bring out or suppress the highs basically. Has the usual tone controls as well as presence.

After messing around with direct recording (using a Sansamp PSA1) I thought it was time to get a badass amp head. I decided money was no limit. I went to a store in Germany and first tried a Bogner Ecstacy. Took me several minutes to get that sounding good (through a Bogner 4x12) and even then it didn't do it for me. I am into instrumental guitar and really love a thick rhythm sound that is tight in its bass response. I don't care how much hype surrounds the Ecstacy, it just didn't sound great to me. So many damn bells and whistles on it. I also tried a Brunetti and Framus head that I thought were better than the Bogner, but still not there. The Koch was a different story. Upon powering it up (Ch 2 Gain Channel), it sounded amazing. I have never heard such a focused sound. Everything is so tight if you know what I mean. Such an amazing rich sound. Clean channel (Ch 1) is great also. I bought a Diezel VH4S the same week I bought the Koch, and so far with my current cab, I think the Koch has a tighter sound. And the Koch costs about $2500 less. I think I may want to become Koch's US dealer when I get back. I figure after enough word of mouth, and after lending the Powertone II out, there will be quite a huge demand for amp that sounds this amazing at a resonable price.
I am not into unreal high gain, but I know that is the trend today (I personally think lots of players today feel they need to hide behind all that gain or something...) so let me say that Ch 3 is the ludicrous gain channel and it maintains unreal definition.

At first I thought there was a problem. There is a standby switch, and you would think having the switch pushed up towards where it says Standby means it is in Standby. But it is the opposite!

This is a top notch amp whose name should be mentioned alongside Bogner and even Diezel. I have been trying to get my Diezel VH4S to sound as good as this amp lately! Other stuff I own: Sansamp PSA1, Triple Giant, VHT 2/50/2. The Triple Giant and 2/50/2 is also a great combo, but not quite on par with the Koch.

3 channels amp (clean, gain, ultra gain). Reverb. Footswitch pedal. 3 speaker damping. 2 inputs for the clean (for those using humbucker pick-up... helping getting more brightness).

I use a Gibson SG Supreme with Mesa Rectifier cabinet (only cab that can really handle the low end of the Koch amp). Very good combination. I play punk-metal and this amp really gives a very powerfull sound without compromising the quality. You can hear every single note even at high gain. Personnaly I only use the ultra gain for solo cause it has a lots of compression and the gain channel sounds better for rythm guitar. I guess it's only a personnal choice but I think this amp is as good and even better that the Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier.

This Amp was built in late December of 2002 or early January of 2003, Rather than rehash all of the features of the powertone amp this is a upgraded powertone with several new features such as a choice of low and hi damping with a new addition choice of a ultra lo setting , also a choice of normal and bright inputs . I have 6550 tubes in mine . Its a 120 watts of pure power , excellent reverb capabilities . in other words features up the gazoo .comes with user friendly foot pedal

The truth of the matter I live in the States and probably only one of a very few to own a powertone II . I went directly to Koch to buy mine . The story behind that ,I first heard the Koch at the Dynamo open air fest in 1999 and the sound was incredible . I spoke to few of the bands who had used the Koch they all raved about the sound , now mind you they had the choice between marshalls and kochs , so I had been Jonesing for a koch for quite awhile , played a few in music stores in amsterdam and finally in December ordered one direct.
I play heavy metal to hard rock to blues and jazz , so therefore I needed a amp that could deliver , I got to tell you once I got my tone and sound dialed in , boy I was off to guitar heaven.
the clean channel is sparkling ,very usuable , the gain and ultra gain channels can go where you want them to go , this amp is extremely versatile, before this I was using a peavey triple XXX , great metal amp , clean channel not so great , before that a Line6 flextone which was ok , but we all know nothing beats a tube amp , getting back to the versatility , i can sound like a vintage Marshall or a Dual rect or anywhere in the middle . The amp is quality , the tone is killer .Im very happy with the sound , my friend who uses a dual rect and does about a 100 or more shows a year was salivating when he heard this mother. I use the Koch 4x12 Dlx slant cab

Ive been playing for about a thousand years hehe , im 44 been playing many years , grew up listening to cream , and zep , purple , hendrix etc ,when guitar players were gods , saw ozzy with randy , seriously , I play a hard edged type of hard rock to metal to blues and dabble in jazz, I play mostly gibsons , les paul custom , a 67 reissue V , ES 335 , SG , 2 ESPs and a LTD baritone , I own a peavey triple xxx which is a very good amp too , but this baby is better . I use numerous effects mostly fulltones because theyre quality , this amp is terrific . Us guitar players know you can make a soso guitar sound good but a great guitar wont sound good with a soso amp , so if you want a amp that goes anywhere you want to take it this is it .
a quick aside Koch were being distributed by a company who i won't mention the name for obvious reasons , who thankfully isn't distributing them anymore , but once the Kochs are readily available here in the states I think you'll start to see alot of them they are it guys . They are class. remember tone is everything
