It is a big folded horn with a 18 inch bass speaker in it . It has an input jack and wheels. what more could you expect from a 60's speaker cab. It is big heavy and very solid.

Sound Quality : 7
It sounds anywhere from very clean deep and punchy to fuzzy distortion if overdriven. Good for anything but salppin' and popping.

Reliability : 9
Yes it is made in USA . It weighs a lot and is very solid.

Non existant

Overall Rating : 10
This is a very good bass cab and it works well with the justom 2-15's and another k200B1 head.

same features as what everybody else said. I LOVE this amp. It has the bass sound I've been looking for after years of looking at both old and new amps. I LOVE THIS AMP!. Plenty of power for live or in the studio. I got it mostly for recording but as I'm mostly a drummer but my most powerful amp is only 30 watts and I do play bass/guitar live from time to time. This amp handles both beautifully. If I want the "live" overdriven bass sound, I just plug it into the effects channel & turn the overdrive on (much more natual than the older Kustom clippers) and run a patch from the parallel out into the clean channel & mix and match to taste.
Wish it had a little more "normal EQ" A 5 band would be nice but that's only somewhat common even now.

Sound Quality : 9
I use a highly modified J bass mostly. Would love a Rick 4003 but can't afford it. I do lots of styles from Tool to Yes-like stuff. I even do some U2ish stuff or a little oldies & country from time to time.
I've never pushed it hard enough to break up. It's plenty loud on "3". Distortion isn't the greatest but like I said before, just run a patch into the clean channel to make it to you're liking.

Reliability : 10
Never heard of a Kustom blowing up. The reverb on mine is so noisy it's un-usable but I don't really need it. It's probably an easy fix but I'm too lazy to work on it. My band all together owns 4 original Kustoms & they're all in great running shape. I'll take it to a gig w/o a backup any day.

Customer Support : No Opinion
The real company is gone now. There's a guy in town here that knows a lot about these so I'm not worried in the slight chance it breaks down.

maybe 5 years of on/off bass playing. I also own an Epiphone SG w/ full array of pedals, a Vox Cambridge twin, a home studio which I won't get into here, 5-piece Ludwig setup w/ Zildjian Sabian and Wuhon cymbals, modified Hammond model G w/ Leslie

I owned one of these in 1975 (Geez I'm old!) The amp was ok straight rock and roll, but you can't funk through it. You could shake the walls with this. Pretty standard features

Sound Quality : 7
I used a Fender and a Rick through it. The previous reviewer said it had a lot of midrange. Up close and on stage it does, but if you ever get in big enough venue, about 125 feet out, it just pounds the pit of your stomach. I could never distort the amp and it was quite enough for that day and age, but probably not good enough to record with. Deep, deep bass, just not quite like an Acoustic 360.

Reliability : 10
Perfect. Kustoms were rock solid.

Customer Support : 7
I understand the new Kustom probably won't service the original amps. Too bad, they weren't that hard to service. The original company was pretty good about service, but a little slow

Overall Rating : 7
They were awfully big. 2nd story gigs were a hassle. But no one would out power you.

Built in 1972 in Chanute Kansas (American Made!!!)
It uses two completely seperate preamps with two seperate high-low impeadence inputs each. The top preamp is useful because of the selectone feature. Selectone seems to be a filter with a three way switch for bass-mid-treble boost. The bottom preamp replaces the selectone switch with a mid knob.
The cabinet is a "W" shaped folded horn loaded with a single 18" speaker. It doesn't mix well with PA systems, especially small ones. That's actually why I like it so much.

Sound Quality : 9
I use a Honer 5-string neck-through bass with EMG passive single coils. I swear by growly Ernie Ball round strings.
The horn seems to make everything sound mid-rangey. Everything that comes out of it is felt as much as it is heard. When the head clips it reverbs almost Lesley style through the horn with interesting results. Remeber John Paul Jones in the BBC sessions?
Even though the head has great treble, the cab has none at all. When it's time to get slap happy, a 4x10 cab would be a better choice.

Reliability : 10
When I bought it, the second preamp was noisy. After a week of playing on the first preamp it got jealous and fixed itself.
I'm sure it needs new power caps but for now it's still all origional. No problems, no smoke, and no fires. Good solid American hardware!!!

It had a lifetime warranty back in the seventies, but some federal laws have blocked that. The "new" Kustom company knows little about the vintage gear (Just look at the reissues). I usually can service the thing myself anyway.

Overall Rating : 10
It makes my bass sound like it's not a bass. It is absolutely irreplaceable. I wish the Tuck'n Roll was in better condition but I'm a player. Having an origional sound like this is priceless. I wish I had three more so I can create small measureable earthquakes in my neighborhood.
