This ground has been covered....

I love the sound of this lil' amp, from clean to dirty, run it thru a 412,and it will produce a very nice sound, not quite loud enuff to be heard above a drummer though, just a nice volume to practice. With the gain around 6 and the delay about half way.

Reliability : 5
I have had at least 3 of these, and all of them the gain went out on.That's a pity...spent alotta time and money searching for a substitute, but have come full circle back to the unreliable Kustom line, love the sound.......BUT......every one of the Kustoms I have owned almost have had issues....in this series anyways (DFX)....have owned the Quad 100dfx,35dfx,100HD head and several of these as stated.

Never tried to contact them, since most of them have been purchased used on eBay.

Playing 40+ years, Mostly Fender guitars,Peavey classic 50/410 amp.old fender R.A.D. small amp.Over the years I've had just about every brand out there. I love this amp.so much that I'm considering trading my old Peavey for a HV30 Kustom. It is alot lighter than the Peavey [i'm getting to old to tote it around]!Compared to Crate,Fender,Marshall,Roland,Peavey,Line6.None had the sound quality of this little Kustom. Kustom has made some great old amps and some junk too,but the newer ones are very good for the money. Give them a shot.

Everything you need for practise or some home recording. The amp has the normal 2 channels - clean & overdrive/distortion. It has a very responsive eq section - bass, middle and treble. Also has a combined delay/reverb sort of control that you can adjust to taste. At the back of the amp alog with the on/off swith are some other useful outputs like ext speaker, line out, headphones & footswitch. It's a brilliant classy looking little amp with a 6 and a half inch speaker.

The clean channel has the one volume control that is excellently voiced so that even when you go past 12 0'clock the output remains warm and does not become harsh and brittle like a lot of tranny amps when you up the volume. The OD/Dist channel has the usual gain and volume levels.

The amp is rated at 10 watts and that seems about right - it is excellent for practise at low to medium levels. I've noticed on this site the many reviews on the Marshall MG series. I have never heard a Marshall MG amp but thought I'd just check out the Kustom reviews - glad I did. I bought my Kustom based on the reviews below [4] that all gave it a 10 for sound. I'm not sure if there is another 10 watter on the site that kicked off with 4 @ 10 for sound. The reviews below are spot on!!!

Sound Quality : 10
Well this is where this little amp shines! It produces some cracking overdrive to distortion sounds along with a really intelligently voiced volume control. The guitar I use is a Fender Strat. The amp brings out all the normal strat sounds in style.
It really is an excellent sounding amp. You can get terrific crunchy overdrives right up to full on distortion sounds. Note definition stays clear and it does not become a saturated muddy slush of sound. Whoever designed this amp at Kustom has done a brilliant job. The amp produces musical sounds that make you want to keep playing your guitar. My previous amp was a Roland Cube 30 - what a mistake-a to make-a! In the end the sterile digital sounds had me grabbing for the off switch, my digital camera and I sold it on eBay after a year of "trying" to like its sounds!
Back to the Kustom amp! The Kustom cost a third the price of the Cube 30 and it's much much more pleasureable to use and its musical. It seems to bring out the more natural sound of your guitar than a digital modelling amp will ever do.
The sound on any amp is what it's all about and not flashing lights, push buttons and knobs and amp modelling and rems and digital fx and...
This little amp produces an excellent quality musical sound for guitarists - 10 plus!

Reliability : 10
I have had the amp for over 2 months and it is working absolutely fine. Like most practise amps it stays in the one place at home so I guess it'll keep producing quality sounds for years to come.

Customer Support : 10
Never dealt with the company but their web site looks well put together and informative.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing/doodling guitar on off for about 45 years and owned a few amps and guitars in that time! I also have an Epiphone Valve Junior [brilliant amp] and a Peavey Backstage 50 [quality amp - pity about the super sat!]

I did not have time to audition the Marshall MGs as well but I'm sure they would have provided some competition - the MG10CD for example. Though I think they would have had to be pretty good to top the Kustom in the sound stakes.

I'm really pleased with this Kustom amp. It sounds and looks classy and vintage like. If you're looking for a top quality home practise amp this amp is definitely worth an audition.

This amp is so coool man it is a must for practicing. The amp is mad for practice only you cant gig with it its not loud enough! Also its solid state so it is reliable. It does not have a effects loop though wish it did. I love playing everything from ozzy to pantera.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a slammer by hamer on it and that has a floyd rose on it! The amp has low noise so its bareable. The amp can make everything from nice clean tones to NOT BRUTAL heavy distortion and I scoop mids to make a sort of anthrax tone out of it and a maybe and justice for all
metallica guitar sound out of it just not brutal but heavy. So it sounds pretty awesome for a prctice amp.

This thing is invicible

For such a small amp it has great features, and sounds great for solid state, The amp seems to be very versatile I just picked it up this afternoon and have been giving it a bit of a workout, and so far so good, The features are-external speaker (can't wait to try that out) line out-to use the preamp section on this amp and the power section of another amp (hooked it up to my new Roland BC30, which is a wonderful clean guitar amp, no reverb but thats no problem because the Kustom has a sort of reverb delay effect which sounds really good) anyway this is where the amp really shines, like one of the guitar players said in another review "It is the sound he's been searching for", sounds unbelieveable for such a small inexpensive amp but it has to be heard to be believed,,,Fellow guitar players it is that good,,,the sound is unreal. The other features are a cd input and a place to plug in your headphones, two cool features to have, I gave it a nine thinking there might be something better out there that I don't know about but at $79 dollars I doubt it. this amp is a 10,,,This little Kustom has a vibe and Im going to buy another one tomorrow to keep in another room in my apartment.

Sound Quality : 10
I just purchased 2 new Ibanez guitars with the SA body style one has a H-S-S pickup configuration, the other 2- humbuckers,,,so far the H-S-S sounds awesome, the cleans are to die for and the gain is nice and crunchy with loads of sustain, I DON'T THINK THIS AMP IS NOISY AT ALL, I've owned amps that I returned the same day because they were so noisy, I can't stand a noisy amp, let me add this amp is great for hitting harmonics, you'll feel like Billy Gibbons after 5 min. of playing

Reliability : No Opinion
The amp seems to be built very well, plus it looks really nice for being such a small amp, its appearance is very classy, guitar is a hobby for me so the amp will never see the road. I will enjoy it in the privacy of my own apt.

I've been messing around on the guitar for years, right now I have the Kustom, the Roland BC30, two Ibanez guitars,,,Buying a Fender Strat and the Epiphone Classic Les Paul (GOLDTOP) then I'll be set, effects are a Digitech BAD MONKEY pedal, Digitech SCREAM'IN BLUES pedal, a CRYBABY WHA pedal, 3-FAB pedals (overdrive, echo, chorus) and the V-AMP,,,I have owned so much gear over the years, so I know what I like and I know what I don't like, what I do now is read lots of reviews and try to buy the best gear without breaking the bank, remember spending big bucks dosen't mean your going to get the sound you like, for instance years ago I owned a Peavey Classic 30 and played a strat all I used for an effect was an Ibanez Tube Screamer, the tone was guitar heaven,,,Then a few years after that sold the classic and bought a 5150 head, big mistake, the classic had great tone and a great blues vibe, and the 5150 did one thing well, it played loud and thats about it, what I learned here was keep what you like bigger doesn't always mean better. I would replace this little Kustom in a second if stolen, I love the amp just the way it is, nice and simple with great tone,,,really what else do you need.

the guy before has more than enough specs so I'll let you read his.....and save time so I can plug back in and play this awesome little bastard. This amp is a godsend. I had been looking around for a cool little practice amp since my old Peavey Rage 108 took a dump (never liked the sound out of it anyway)and ran across this in a pawn shop.

Sound Quality : 10
The thing I like about the sound is that it totally changes everytime you change guitars.....it something you have to hear to believe. I usually use a Gibson Sg Special and paired this thing on the dirty channel can fucking destroy!!! The clean channel rocks too.... with my Fender mexican tele in the neck position.....you could put demons to sleep with that tone. And I'll go one futher. The amp I used to play live was a Crate GT-500h, which is a 50 watt , EL34 tube powered head. Well, I wasn't digging the low end on this amp at all or the gain for that matter. So, I put a Maxon OD808 overdrive in front of it to tighten it up and boost the signal, which sounded ok but not exceptional. So Iwas fucking around at practice and ran a cord from the line out of the Kustom and into the INSERT on the front panel of the Crate and BAM!!! the sound I had searching for years to find was right in front of me. It was basically a ghetto solid state/ tube hybrid. Using the unbelievable preamp of the Kustom and the tube poweramp section of the crate GT500h I acheived sonic heaven......and I'm playing through shitty cabs for christ's sakes!!!

Reliability : 10
It'll last longer than cancer.

This is the best sounding practice amp ever made....and if paired with a tube power amp, one of the best live amps ever conceived. Period. If you don't believe me try it!!

This is a very nice vintage looking solid state combo practice amp. Designed in the US, made in china. 13"x8"x11.5", 13 lbs. 10watt bi-polar transistor output. 6.5" 4 ohm 15 watt (30 max) speaker w/10oz. magnet. Two selectable input channels, overdriven channel has separate gain & volume controls, clean channel has volume control. 3 band eq., bass, mid, treble. Combined analog reverb/echo effect in one knob. Hidden in the rear compartment are 4 jacks: External 1/4" speaker jack (8 ohm only), 1/4" line out jack (mono), 1/4" CD/Tape in jack (stereo), 1/4" headphone jack (stereo). The cabinet feels bulletproof, the controls all feel very solid and it has a very cool blue pilot light. Did I mention that visually it's a masterpiece? Based on the price, it gets a 9 for features. One small issue is that the reverb is mixed with echo and you can't adjust the mixture. It's not bad, it sounds fine, but another knob would be nice. I also wish it has a foot switch jack for channel selection and reverb, but you can't have it all, right? If it had the knob and foot switch jack, it would be a 10+ in features.

I have an Aria Pro II CS-400 Custom from the early 80's with "hot" promatic V Humbuckers and a quality 2 post tremolo setup. It has coil taps and allows for a large variety of sounds. This amp sounds great with the Aria. I can easily set the amp for any sound from very clean to metal. If you crank the clean channel you can make it distort slightly, but turning the volume down on the guitar cleans it up. Overall the quality of sound is balanced and the amp is very quiet. I have a Squier strat. With it set to the neck pickup and setting the amp to push the mids, it gets a very tubey sound. This is probably the combination of the guitar, the pickup, and the amp, but it was unexpected and worth noting. I plugged in my tube screamer and played through the clean channel and was able to get a good 60's sound. Plugged in the big muff and was able to play feedback without bothering the neighbors. After 5 hours of playing around with this think, (non-stop), I can say I'm very happy. Neat little amp! I couldn't find anything to complain about with it's sound, so I gave it a 10. I am very impressed with the sound quality compared to its price. I expected much less and got much more. No it wont compare to my tube amps, but I can't play my tube amps at night in my bedroom. This is the next best thing.

Reliability : No Opinion
5 hours straight playing with every feature and it didn't have any problems. But since I just got it, I cant rate it.

didn't try to get support yet. I do like the fact that Kustom is an American company located here in the US. I bet that support is pretty good.

Overall Rating : 10
I needed a small practice amp for my bedroom that can make a decent variety of sounds at low volume. I'm hooked on vintage tube amps so when I saw this little guy I was sold. I really loved the way it looked, it had the features I wanted so I bought it right away with the realization that it may not have the best sound, but it had everything I needed in a small attractive package.

I already had a Crate GX15 but the sound quality wasn't that great and I wanted some reverb. Honestly the Crate and this Kustom are no comparison. I could only play the Crate for about 10 minutes before getting bored and disgusted. I gave the Crate to my daughter.

Been playing guitar for 27 years on and off. Was in a garage band for 5 years in the 70's, then decided to learn how to play. Was in a Metal band briefly in the early 80's. Now I play for the enjoyment and try to constantly learn new techniques and improve my style.

Amps: All original and sweet sounding Vintage Guild Thunderstar (reverb & trem) with SP Telefunkens, Guild Thunder 1 Reverb (very nice but needs cap job), Kalamazoo model 2 modded, Kalamzoo model 2 stock, Sunn Beta Lead 212 combo(from my metal days). I love all of my amps, except for the Sunn. I wish that would get stolen as it isn't worth enough money to make me sell it. The Sunn is one thing - Loud, no good for anything else. (Well it makes a good extension speaker cab.)

Please take note that this Kustom is only 10 small watts, it won't do gigs, it won't shake your walls, it won't do the laundry. If you want lots of power get something else. It's not a tube amp nor does it claim to be. (But it looks like one from "Honey I shrunk the amp")

The little Kustom fits right in with my other equipment and does exactly what it is supposed to do.

Great Price, value, and free shipping!!
