lead channel- nice on full gain, not nice otherwise
Rhythm channel- clean as it gets
effects which stay on ALL the time (yes, like so many others this amp is fucked)
Sound Quality
:

both channels sound alright unless you count the constant periodic popping and the fact that it turns off of its own accord.
fx control is broken and chorus is on all the time, this is a very , very shit amp.

no! it breaks all the time, personally i'm going to rip out everything apart from the red label celestion and build my self a 5-15 watt tube amp in the chassis.

i've been playing three nearly four years, i've been using a rewired MOSFET Alligator 30 from the 70's, and i fucking hate this amp! i've used my fair share of crap amps and this has the sound of a mini amp and the reliability of a banana being used as a shoe. you buy this and you might as well die now

I bought this about 5 months ago after my little 10 watt marshall amp gave up the ghost. i traded in an old late 80's washburn electric and bought this kustom amp. It basicall y has clean and overdrive channels, with a shared eq and a reverb effect (which isn't TOO bad) and a switchable chorus. this isn't very versatile, as the drive channel is horrible but the clean is not too bad.
Sound Quality
:

This is a truly horrible sounding ampifier the clean channel is the only remotely redeemng feature. the drive is horrible and is way bassier than the clean channel. (as there is a shared eq there is no way of fixing this) and the gain is terrible unless it is on full.
the chorus isn't too bad, but when switched off it makes a popping sound which is almost as loud as the guitar. I have a squier tele with a seymour duncan hot pickup in the neck position and the amp just doesn't respond, even with better guitars.

I WOULD NEVER GIG WITH THIS. A problem is that every 4th or 5th time you switch it on it is extremely quiet, then suddenly all the volume comes back on after about 5 minutes of hitting it. The 'popping' chorus as I mentioned earlier is a big issue when playing live.

I'm not sure what year this amp was made, but I bought it in 2001, along with "my first real six-string". Features are pretty dull, but then again I bought it as a practice amp, anyway they're mentioned in the other reviews. I give it a five, hey, five is average.

I play it with a Yamaha Pacifica h/s/s, although various other guitars have been played through it over the years, including a Gibson SG Standard. I also have a semi-acoustic, which I've played through it. It sounds terrible with the acoustic.
I play everything from rock, through to metal, through to blues and country. I didn't use this amp for months, as I had a loan of a Marshall AVT150, but I had to give that back, and return to this amp. I will not tolerate this amp any longer. It was fine for starting out on, but now I need something much better. The gain is crap, the reverb can't be turned off and the chorus is horrible. The clean tone is ok, but not brilliant. Even for the price, it sucks all round. It's incredible volume is not really a saving grace, either.

Recently, its been making lots of buzzing noises, and sometimes pings come out of it. The jewel light has a life of its own. Saying that, its still a tough amp, and it has been abused a bit (I tend to use it a lot after a night out)

I've been playing for four years, and have gigged a bit. As I said, I had a Marshall AVT150 for a while, but there really isn't any comparison between the two, especially seeing as how the Kustom is really only a beginners amp anyway. If it was nicked, I'd shrug and put it down to experience. I'm giving it away as soon as I get something better. It's just pissing me off now. When I was buying it, there was a Marshall 30W for a little more, but being strapped for cash, I bought the cheap one. Regrets don't change anything. For the money, and for a beginner, I suppose it's ok, but if you've been playing for a while, do not get this amp. Get a Line 6 or something. They're relatively cheap, and far superior in all respects.

the amp was made in 2003, this sucker is loud, it's ok for me i play blues, rock. well the amp has 2 channels, an effects loop, chourus (shity shity shity shity efect) and reverb ( not to hot itself). i'm a home player and don't need that much of an amp. 30W solid state loud.

ok heres where it goes bad because the gain channel sounds terrible. and it's noisey as hell on it. i use it clean with a processor, i would'nt use the distortion or effects if you paid me. the processor gives me my sound. the EQ dosent work that well so i use my processor for that. and i'm not much of a tone guru, but i can tell that this thing sounds pretty bad. through this amp i play a SQUIER 20TH ANNIVERSARY AFFINITY STRAT with a SD LITTLE 59 in the bridge, and like i've said a DIGITECH RP200 PROCESSOR. all in all a good word for this amp is O K.

I've had this amp since I got back into playing after a twenty-year layoff (about 18 months). Its got okay basic features, nothing extra-special. I only use this amp at home to play 70's, 80's and 90's rock (AC/DC, Aerosmith, Ted Nugent, Van Halen, etc.).

I usually play a Washburn with an H/S/S configuration through this.
The clean channel is very clean and the overdrive channel is okay with the gain a 6 or below. Higher than that without the mid "scooped" and everything gets sort of muddy. With the mids scooped and the gain up (B=10, M=0, H=10), the bass WAY overshadows the highs. It's interesting to see that the other people can't turn off the chorus, because on mine, the chorus has no real depth and the reverb leaves something to be desired. I also have a Fender Champ 30 in the house and its reverb is one of the best solid-state units I've heard. I am using a Digitech RP50 almost constantly with this amp (except for the clean stuff) because its chorus/flanger and reverb effects are so much better than this unit's. I agree with the others, for a 30 watt solid-state amp, it is loud.

The amp has been very reliable without any of the problems the other reviewers have mentioned, I just don't know what's up with the chorus/reverb thing. I doubt if I'd gig with it, it's just not that versatile.

I think the features on this amp are ok, nothing to write home about, but it's a $200 solid state, so..... The distortion is pretty good, it's just to bassy, without a seperate eq from the clean. It's not really an issue, though, just use your favorite pedal. Chorus is ok, along with reverb. Nothing flashy. I like the clean alot, in fact, I like it better than most fender solids. I use it as my home amp, but I have gigged it before in pretty big rooms. Just put an SM57 on it.

I use a standard strat. This amp suits me fine. It's just my practice amp, but I really like it. A lot of people have slammed this amp, but I really like mine. The times I gigged it, I only used the clean along with a Ts-9 and Blues Driver, and mic-ed at a low level, it was fine. It's really loud, which is cool when my wife and neighbors are not home. I like to turn the gain up all the way, lots of cool sustain, when I practice at home with no pedals. Like I said earlier, nothing to write home about, but fine.

Maybe I just got the only good one in the world, but I've had mine a little over a year, without any problems, and I play it almost every night. A lot of people are calling this crap, but again, I am satisfied with mine.

If this amp were stolen, I wouldn't rush out and get this exact amp, I'd just get whatever the best 20-30 watt solid state Ballew's Music (the best music store in the world) had at the time for the money. Again, a lot of people are trashing this, so maybe I just got the only good one, but I really like it for what I use it for: practice and the occasional outing.

This amp is OK, not the greatest thing in the world by any means though. It sounds just great for the Punk/Alternative stuff I like to play, it has a built in chorus effect (which I use occasionally) and the distortion (I use a separate pedal for this).I

I play a Fender Mexican Strat through it and it sounds Pretty Good for a $170.00 amp (I know, if I had more money I probably would have gotten a Marshall, but I didn't so I got this instead). The distortion channel is pretty beefy, whether you're playing Metal, Alternative, or whatever distorted style you play, it has a relatively nice sound to it. And it is a loud-ass thing let me tell you.

I'm surprised that the other reviews slammed this amp on reliability, I for one have never had a problem with it (I've only owned it for like half a year though), and I would use it live.

I've been playing about 4 years, and this amp, though not the best in the world, is much better than the frighteningly-crappy Synsonics amp I had before it, and has stood up fairly well, but only time can make that judgement, and if it fails, I'll just get something else.

this thing is as reliable as santa getting all your presents on your christmas list. i am currently on my second amp. THe first one starting cutting off after about 1 min of playing. so we took it back to the shop. then they sent it to kustom, kustom then returned it saying nothing was wrong. shop tryed it and it wasn't working so they sent it back again. So kustom sent a new amp back, and that work for about 2 months also untill it started playing up

This amp is LOUD
I play a mixture of styles sometime grungy some times blues using various boss effects I've used alot of guitars with this amp from a squire strat to a Gibson Les Paul. The controls on this amp suck!!! As stated in the previous review the effects dials wont turn off which leads to a very poor sound alot of the time. It is a very loud amp though, you could possibly play in a smallish club with it but you'd have to be mad to do this because........
Reliability
:

Its completely unreliable!!!!! Sometimes it decides not to work when you turn it on, othertimes it will work for a random period of time and then suddenly the volume will drop off completely, and you just get a ringing echo noise. The effects dials cant be turned off and in my experience the equaliser controls seem to decide for themselves what setting they will be on. As mentioned in the earlier review the power light is ALWAYS on and just gets slightly brighter when the amp is switched on.
Basically it sucks!!!!!
(note to other owners after this amp died on me one to many a time I thumped the top of it which temporarily gets it going again sometimes!!!)

I've been playing for a couple of years and I thought I'd give this amp a try as I was looking for something to tide me over until I can scrape up enough money for a decent amp. This amp is just so crap its beyond belief! If this amp was stolen I would find the thief and shake his hand! The only good thing about this amp is that its loud but if you cant rely on its then thats pointless. If you see a Kustom amp remember the three point rule 1) Point and stare 2) Laugh 3) Run away.
Sorry if this review sounds overly negative but if you dont believe me buy one for yourself and start crying. I thought maybe it was just my amp that was faulty but the person who also reviewed this amp suffers from EXACTLY the same faults, coincidence??? I think not.....

the amp is new, so i guess 2000
its a 10 inch solid state amp with 30 watts power.
the amp has lots of features, chorus, reverb, (good) overdrive, an effects loop, 2 channels, line out, ext. speaker out, headphone jack.
it only has 1 eq for both channels, which is kinda annoying and if its plugged in in the mains the light goes on, without atually being turned on.
its got lots of features for the price but its missing some improtant things.

i use an epi sg400 with stock pickups, i play rock, alt. rock or metal. The amp suits my music styles quite well because its got a nice overdrive and its not too noisy. The reverb is quite good.
My real problem is the chorus, the switch doesnt work, so its always on and its got more of a flanging effect on the overdrive channel. If you turn the chorus effect to 0 then every 5 seconds it gives off 2 loud beeps (louder than the guitar sound going thru).
The distortion can be really brutal, but you lose too much of the guitar sound and it just turns into a mush, and you cant make out the chords at all.
The chorus really ruins the sound, otherwise it would be a 8. but not a 10 because the distortion is too mushy.

Can i depend on it? no. after about 45 mins of playing it goes dead and looses all post gain on the lead channel. this is about 3 hours after i bought it. its f-ing loud though, for 30 watts so if it was more reliable it do v.small gigs with it

ive been playing for 8 years, ive got an epiphone sg g400 copy (exact) by vintage. and an acoustic.
i like the reverb (its spring) the chorus thing is a real mess.
i compared to a fender, but chose it because it had a chorus, i only played them for 2 mins tho.
oh yeah, NEVER BUY A KUSTOM AMP!!! Only kidding, its propbably just something wrong with this amp in particular.
If someone stole this amp first id get a hammer and hit the sh*t out of them, then, id claim insurance, then id go to the store and part trade my amp with the money from the insurance and buy something better.
Thats just what id do :)
The amp it fine for practise except the overdrive is too mushy.
I would give it a 7 because its quite cheap, but the chorus is broken so i wont.
