I bought this new in 2006. It is a basic PA system with two speakers that have two 6.5 inch speakers in each cabinet. Alot of a efects, but they are of marginal use. I use the PA for backing tracks and vocals. It is a good system for a small venue and practise. Not a powerful system.

Sound Quality : 8
Good sound, vocals sound good. Electric guitar with stomp box pluged into PA ounded good...better than expected.

Reliability : 10
No major problems. One speaker blew a wire.....replaced on my own for less tha $30.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 8
Good system for budget minded, for rehearsals, for backing tracks and vocals. If you think you can use it for a hard rock or metal band, with all instruments going through you are not being realistic. For limited applications it is very good.

Features were pretty well covered by Matt in the post below. Nice array of features for the money.

Sound Quality : 8
Bought one of these for a singer / sonwriter frined of mine who asked me to find him a great sounding, low cost, portable system for his coffee house type gigs. This one did the trick. I was so impressed with the sound when I showed him how to set it up, I went back and bought one for myself. I did an open mic gig with my friend. He was the host and had a variety of musical guest and some "spoken word" profiteers. The system worked well for all. My buddy played his Taylor acoustic through it and I used a tele through a V-Amp to accompany him and a few other acts. I was impressed with the clean tone, the digital effects and the sound dispersion. The Line Array speakers seem to work as advertised. Will it work as a rock band PA...well, no...but using it for small to meduim acoustic type gigs....coffe house, open mics, weddings etc, are it's fortay.

Reliability : No Opinion
I have not used mine more that three times, so I'm hoping what happened to Matt does not happen to me! My friend has used his probably 25-30 hours with no ill effects. I won't comment on this part till later down the road.

As above!

I got these things for $199 each, so even if they go tits up after a while, not great loss. I certainly hope hey hold up, but as cheaply as things are made these day's, I'm not holding my breath. That said, for a low cost ( especially the price I got em for )portable system that actually sonds good and has some nice features....phantom power, rca in and outs, digital effects, boosed channel for running your acoustic with out a pre-amp, these things are quite nice. Comprable to the Fender Passport system for a lot less money. Of course, if it crpas out likes Matts did, then it's not such a good deel. Till it does though, it gets a solid 8 from me.

3-piece guitar, vocal, keyboard amp/portable PA system; 5 channels; phantom power; built-in 24-bit digital effects; 3-band EQ; 1/4 inch and XLR inputs; line in for CD player, tape, drum machine, etc; effects loop; System is not stereo. Consists of the 100 watt amp itself and two 'Line Array' speakers w/cables. The main components feel solid, and are covered in a gray plastic-vinyl coating. The three components each have a handy ergonomic built-in carrying handle. I used this system for two acoustic/electric guitars, a vocal channel, and at times a drum & bass track piped in from a CD player. This was a "garage band" setting - playing for friends in a casual party atmosphere, and the system had more than enough features and sound capability for what we were doing.

Sound Quality : 8
The two main guitars played through this amp were both modified Fender acoustic/electrics. One was a GD-47SCE and the other a DG-21S. I also played a Gibson Les Paul Custom through it. I used a Shure PG-58 for vocals. The music played was mellow acoustic rock - mostly Pink Floyd, REM, Eagles, Coldplay type stuff. Volume levels were always moderate and at no time did I ever crank this system up and "see what it would do." I'd say I was very conservative with it. I've gotta say I was really, really surprised and pleased with the way this system sounded. The clarity of the sound and absence of background noise was striking, even when effects were added full. It was much better than I expected for the price. At the conservative levels we played at (maybe 1/3 max), the system was more than loud enough. I've heard that the volume that can be had from these systems is surprising - enough for small clubs - and though I never played it in those settings, I'm absolutely sure it would handle it. The effects are not extraordinary, but for this type of system they are pretty damn good. There is nothing about them that sounds "chinsy" whatsoever. That is when they are working.

To answer the questions in the category: No, I would never depend on this amp; No, I would never use this at a gig without a backup (or at a gig period); Yes, it broke down consistantly; and no, this was in no way due to neglect or misuse. This amp worked flawlwssly for about 40 hours of use, and then the sound would crackle and cut out whenever the master volume was adjusted. Soon you had to find a spot for the knob that didn't cut your crackly volume by half. One night it cut out - for good. No sound at all. I sent it back to Music123's Customer Service Department (which by the way is by far the absolute worst customer service I've ever dealt with), and they said they could find nothing wrong with the system and returned it. Upon plugging it back in and trying it out, I found it still would make no sound. On another reliability note, Federal Express would not open my front gate and dropped the packaged amp about two or three feet onto my concrete walkway. This impact was enough to crack the amps case, even though it was boxed fairly well. The crack revealed that under the vinyl coating there was stuff that looked like particle board, but that it was more fibrous. The technitian at Music123 confirmed that these types of affordable systems are made with what he called "a kind of compressed cardboard or something," and that they don't stand up well to any accidents. Still, the main issue was the electronics, and after much hassle and constant follow-up on my part, Music123 replaced the system with a new one. When I first plugged in this new replacement system, I realized that three of its effects were making the same single effect. I got 'Slapback Echo' from where I was supposed to, but also from 'Chorus' and 'Chorus/Reverb'. In other words, the Chorus and Chorus/Reverb didn't work. At this point, I got my money refunded and bought a Carvin AG100D. The funny thing is that most of the reviews I read for the Kustom Profile were great, and it turned out to be totally unreliable. On the other hand, there are a number of negative reviews for the Carvin AG100D on this site, but it has performed flawlessly since the day I bought it. Go figure.

I never did deal with Kustom's Customer Support, and did all of my dealings through Music123's return policies. I don't recall what Kustom's warranty was exactly, other than it seemed adequate. Because of the level of indifference and incompetence that I experienced from Music123's Customer Service, I'll never, ever do business with that company again.

Iv'e played casually for thirty years, with most of my experience in the last 25 years. I own the above-mentioned guitars, and have owned Strats and Guilds. I recently aquired a Garrison G-20 twelve-string acoustic/electric. I'm pretty knowledgable when it comes to music gear. I can honestly say that this amp was one of the nicest sounding affordable systems I've heard, and also the most unreliable piece of equipment I've ever owned. It's really too bad it wasn't more reliable. If I somehow was the victim of coincidence, and got two lemons, then I'd say don't drop this amp and you'll be real happy with it. By the way, the salespeople at Music123 are top-notch.
