I have the 2007 model of this head teamed up with a behringer 4x12 equiped with custom bugera speakers, Can i say i play a classic less paul, i play all out rock/post-hardcore. I love this head because it has the warmest clean tone i have ever heard out of a solid state, when set on rythm on the clean channel it rivals marshall and orange tube heads (maybe better), Distortion sucks i might add but it has a pretty descent selection of on board effects, problem is there is no way to control them. however if teamed up with a DAMAGE CONTROL demonizer preamp pedal might i say holy hell, it sounds great, very similar to my soldano 100 when it is clean or distorted on my demonizer, when my band gigs i get all sorts of compliments people dont expect it to sound so good due to the fact that kustom isnt gigged very much. It is very versitile i can get sounds that range from vox all the way to mesa or krank. The tube preamp is a must with this head. other than that it is great!

This is a 2006 ex-demo amp. Bought with angled 4x12inch celestions Kustom cab. 200 GBP for amp and 200 GBP for cab.

Bought this amp as primarily as a clean amp for my Vintage jazz archtop. I also use it with my Tokai strat. I mainly play jazz (very clean) but enjoy the occasional venture onto the lead channel for a play!

It is a two channel amp, lead and rhythm. It has a crunch/grind preamp select on the lead with Balls (gain) and Bigger Balls (extra gain) switch. The rhythm has two preamp modes clean and fat. There are seperate bass, mid, treble and volume for each channel. There is a bright blue light indicating which channel is selected.
It has digital effects, hall reverb, spring reverb, slapback, delay, chorus, chorus+reverb, flanger, flanger+reverb and tremelo. There is an effects level knob but no rate switch for the delay, chorus and flanger. No headphone socket. Effects loop - but it requires TRS cable - so I haven't used it. Wish it had stereo output.
It is used at home, overkill I know but for an excellent clean sound this is cheap compared to a Jazz King or a JC120.

Sound Quality : 9
This is an excellent clean amp which makes it very easy to set up very nice clean tones. The EQ is powerful and makes tailoring the sound easy. With the archtop I run it on rhythm clean and with the strat it is played on the rhythm fat, which really beefs up the strat single coil output to produce a nice thick clean output.

It is such a powerful clean sound that it can be difficult to judge how loud you are playing. I tend to get visited by others in the house telling me to keep it down. I have a personal belief that with archtops the tendency to feed back is increased by distortion from the amp. This is borne out by the volumes I can play the archtop at through the Kustom compared to a 15 watt practice amp - which used to make it squeal very easily.

I personally like the distortion on the lead channel. I can run it from single note clean soloing with a shade of overdrive thickening out the sound to bluesy 3/4 note chords. Push it harder and it produces nice harmonics in the distortion. Through the strat it can produce good Blur style Britpop/punk distortion. I like the distortion because you can still hear the individual notes through the crunch. I hate amps that distort to unrecognisable fuzz.

In short it suits the arch's humbucker and the strat singles - very quiet amp with no extraneous noise. I have tried my Korg AX1500G into the input but it is very hissy with this plugged in. I will eventually get a TRS plug and try it through the effects loop. The reverbs are okay on the inbuilt effect but keep the level low or the sound gets very wet. The chorus/flanger+reverb is horrible.
I would only want to add a little chorus to the sound on occassions and this is the only let down.

Keeping in mind why I bought it - as an excellent clean amp - it has to score highly.

Reliability : No Opinion
I don't gig - though the guy across the road could probably join in on his bass - as he can hear it in his house!

Seems solidly made.

Been playing long enough to know what I like! Getting the right amp is as important as getting the right guitar. This is a fantastic clean amp with great flexibility of sound. I might be a bit daft having a half-stack in the bedroom - it is definitely overkill - but it does provide the purest clean I've ever heard - and I compared it to a JC120 and a Jazz King. At ??400 for amp and cab you can't get anywhere near with the other two in the sound per pound department. I just wish it was a bit smaller!

Only gripe is the lack of seperate effects loop in and out.

Korg makes a great headphone/late night practice box though!

Okay this is a follow up to my prior review. Okay now i said i didn't like the distortion channel on this amp, i was using 1 particular guitar when i tried this amp's distortion channel and it was the pickups on that guitar which just didn't react well with the distortion channel. Now i've played my Schecter C-1 Hellraiser on it (with active EMG's), my Ibanez SZ520QM, and my Gibson Les Paul Jr Special on it and the distortion channel is actually VERY VERY nice, and downtuned stuff is incredible. I use a Kerry King 10 band in the effects loop, and i can use that to REALLY get a great sound out of the distortion channel. ANd for when i want extremely saturated gain i just boost the dirt with my Maxon 808 overdrive pedal. And i also use a Keeley CS-3 compressor which can really open up this channel and add some crazy sustain. This beats all my distortion pedals for distortion by far.

This is one of my favorite ampe i've used. I've owned Peavey classics, Peavey Delta blues, Laney GH50L, Laney AOR pro-lead II head, Line 6 flextone HD and HD II, Vox valvetronix, Peavey Ultra PLus, Peavey Valve King 100w head, Marshall DSL 50&100w heads, Marshall Ad150vth head, and many more and this is the one i've kept so far. The only amp i've played that i want to add to my collection is a Mesa dual recto because you just cannot get that sound anywhere else :D

I just cannot get over how great this amp is for so cheap.

My amp is a recent '06 model, it took me a month to get it on backorder. It was worth the wait, i play classic rock, blues mostly, classic metal including Judas Priest is somthing ive recently enjoyed playing,2 channels both with thier own preamp boost swithces, fat lean on the clean and punch and grind on the lead, with initial distortion (balls) and the second dist (bigger balls).
It is solid state with 200watts. it has way more power than i need but i heard a tone difference is prevalent between the 100 and 200. Has an effects loop which is a feature ive never used. Effects are cool, delay and reverbs, others are kind of vague in sound. Wish i had more overdrive to make those Judas Priest screams easier, think painkiller. Not quite enough.

Sound Quality : 9
Im running (lol) an Agile 2500 which i modified with Gibson pots and seymour duncan pickups, SH-11 in the bridge and a SH-1 in the neck, i set it up so i have one tone and one pot and reversed the pickup switch wiring. personal preference. Rock blues and classic rock, hard rock. Wow can i get an awesome Early Cream (Eric Clapton) tone including the infamous woman tone. Has the soulful blues rock sound of Hendrix/Clapton back in the good ole days. Maybe im wrong but im getting one heck of a plexi tone! If you took the Kustom badge off it looks like one from afar. itll do classic metal, hair band stuff early Priest pretty good with bigger balls engaged. The first dist is classic rock land anyting thing you can think of, also i run My Epiphione alley cat through it for soulful blues. Bigger balls is great, dial in the amps delay effect with BB engaged and you can Motley Crue, or Poison the stage to death, i get just enough to play heavier stuff. The clean channel with a Boss Metal zone is absolutly dangerous and friggin abnoxious, i love it! Okay here we go, i have read many reviews saying your not gonna like the distortion. The amp like many others have a revolutionary device called the EQ which seems to be ignored i see this happen with players quite a bit. Guys and Gals seem to crank the eq to full blast and or totally ignore the eq and say this amp sucks. This amp is so versitile and the eq is sensitive enough to make so many tones! The clean channel last but not least is great, i dont think you could make this amp clip, it is rediculously loud and makes my wah pedal sound incredible, wucka wucka quack if you will. It has that fat/lean switch and it makes a diference in the sound which a lot of those switches i have found on other amps fail to do. Have the matching cab with celstions it came with and they are warmer not as harsh as a 412 full of v30s would, however the v30 is my favorite speaker and this amp would sound awesome through them in my opinion. I had a Peavey xxl which was excellent but this amp sounds more natural like you can make your own sound with out getting branded, like oh it sounds like that or this. I was missing my XXL until i spent some time learning my way around this sucker. Let me say im a tube amp feak and this thing satifies my tone requirments no problem.

Reliability : 9
Heavey, if you dropped it you'd be hitting home depot for some new floorboards, the cab is great however it can get winded with extremley high volumes. Only had it a month.

emailed them recently to tell them i love this amp. No reply yet.

Been playing for 6 years amatuer, never had enough time on stage, jam with buddies mostly, and keeps up with my buddies HD-147, he though he was loud, it goes toe to toe with it there! but other than that...........
I would buy it again, cant believe the price for for all you get! I was looking at a Peavey Valveking halfstack and comparing it with the 200 quad the VK is a tube amp 4 6l6's and 4 12ax7's.
Maybe im strange but ive always made the most of the equipment i have and i have to say this amp delivers what i need.

Well its been explained. Only thing i should note is the need for a TRS
tip/ring (called "insert cable") sleeve cable for the effects loop. Its only 1 jack, not a send jack and a return jack. you plug the insert cable in and 1 cable from the plug is the sent cable, the other cable coming from the plug is the return cable. The effects are limiting as in there is no control over them except they are on or off, and a effects level knob.

Sound Quality : 10
Okay here is the thing, most people will not like the distortion channel, i guarantee 80% of people won't. IN fact i hate it. I just consider this a clean amp only. BUT the clean amp is so awesome that i will still give this a 10 because it really is one of the best clean amps i've come across, tube or SS. It is definitely the best SS amp there is. And even better is using the power amp only. You can use the effects loop and bypass the preamp in this thing and use your own preamp. I use a PEavey rockmaster tube preamp in it alot. This combination will rival some of the best all tube amps on the market with similar distortion. As in 6505/5150, XXX, JSX, and marshall type sound, not mesa sound. For this type of sound it is absolutely incredible. If you do not use a tube preamp you can use pedals into this thing and it is a dream for pedalheads. THe EQ is VERY powerful. But i recommd a 10 band EQ in the loop for best sound for sure. THe fat/thin knob is pretty awesome for clean sounds, and can do alot for the right distortions and overdrives. ITs definitely one of the my dynamic amps i've ever laid hands on. at 1 volume setting you can strum lightly and literally hardly hear your guitar, and then dive in and get the most deafening explosion EVER. Actually probably dangerously decieving if you aren't use to the amp. I also recommend some sort of volume pedal, because the amp's volume at only "1" can get you evicted from your apartment, no joke. I use a EQ pedal volume knob as my master volume. Excellent Excellent amp. Even for someone buying Deizel heads & cabs i recommend you buy this amp just for your cleans, it definitely sounds better than a JC-120 (that i have alot of experience with) for cleans and pedals.

Reliability : 10

Best SS amp i've used, louder than any sub 600w amp i've heard, incredibly dynamic, you will NEVER clip the power supply. It will make you reallize that its not your speakers that couldn't handle the power of your other amps, it was your other amps that ran out of juice and couldn't push your speakers to their potential. With other powerful amps i thought i had been bottoming out my speakers in my 4x12, but now with this amp they have 3-4 times the bass and output and still don't bottom out. Now i reallize this is probably the case with most people's "power handling" of their speakers. Its not the speakers, its lack of power. BTW check out B-52 AT series cab. After owning a Mesa Recto cab, and a Marshall 1960A cab i can honestly say the B-52 is better than the Marshall and almost as good as the REcto cab. Got it for only $400 OTD from GC!

Definitely versatile enough for what I play. I play rock, blues, funk, and reggae. I'm currently in a rock band.

It has two channels, one clean one distortion. Each channel has two differently voiced preamps. It uses a 3 conductor 1/4" footswitch.

It has built in effects: Hall reverb, spring reverb, slap back, delay, chorus, chorus/reverb, flange/reverb and tremolo.

A single jack effects loop. You need a Tip/Ring Y cable, Radio Shack should have one. This is a stereo jack on one end and two 1/4 inch plugs on the other. This converts the effects loop I/O jack on the back of the amp to an effects in and effects out connection.

An XLR line out for going directly into a PA or recording mixer. An aux input and of course a guitar input.

In the back there's two speaker outs, a line out, the effects loop jack and the footswitch jack.

My only complaints are not having a regular effects loop. And not having and extra knob for the built in effects so that you can control them.

Sound Quality : 8
Keep in mind I don't believe any amp is a 10. Not even the Mesa Boogie I once owned. But I'm really digging the tones from this amp. And you cant beat the reliability of solid state. I'm not a tube elitist either. I believe there are good and bad amps made both with tubes and without.

I play through it mainly with my fat strat and my emg 81 equipped Esp V. I've cranked the hell out of it and *noise wise* it's surprisingly quiet.

The clean is sweet. The distortion does not get brutal, but that's not what this amp is made for. The distortion on this is made more for rock than, say, death metal. Though I can pull some early marshally Metallica tones out of it. If you expect anything heavier this is not for you. That or you can get a pedal.

The effects are ok but not versatile enough. At 200 watts this thing gets facking loud. Enough power for gigging and jamming.

Reliability : No Opinion
It's solid state. So it's more reliable than tube amps. But never gig without a backup. The band should always have some backup equipment. You never know what could happen and it's better to be safe than sorry. Hasn't broke down nor needed any servicing. But I usually like to own an amp for a few years before truly judging its reliability.

Customer Support : 10
I've emailed Kustom twice. Once to ask about the footswitch and the other to ask about the effects loop. Each time they were both very helpful and friendly.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing for about 14 years. If it were lost or stolen I'd guess I'd be out another $300 bucks to get another one.

I like the tones, and the looks. Just wish there was more control over the effects. The effects loop isn't really that big of a deal once you have the proper cable.

For the money this is an excellent buy. Much better than the other amps in its class and then some.

Made in 2004 I believe. 200 Watts, 2 channels, one rhythm, one lead. Built in digital effects, effects loop, aux in, two line outputs.

The clean on this amp is great. Crystal clear and precise sounding. The lead channel is very ballsy and has alot of Tone, but the gain leaves a bit to be desired. The channels switch without a pause which is good. There is plenty of power and I never have had to turnup the volume more than 6 (even less on the clean channel)

This thing is built like a rock and I DO gig with out a backup(although the amp sits in a road rack)andtheretro look is pretty cool, reminiscent of old marshalls.

I give it a nine because the effects loop is a TRS insert style input andnot a standard in/out effects loop. These types of effects loops make some effects diffcult to use. I just wish it had a seperate send/receive jacks instaed. Maybe I will convert it once the warranty runs out :)

Sound Quality : 9
My gear chain:

Ibanez Rg 7 string and Ibanez RG420 > Digitech XP100 whammy/wah > Danelectro coolcat 18v chorus > Amp (I use a Behringer Cab with Jensen Speakers)
I play in a heavy band and we use a B tuning. The clean channel is everything I want in clean channel. Nothing more I could expect to have here. The clean also stays clean until the upper volume settings and then it begins to break up. The lead channel is very ballsy and delivers on tone. The Gain however leaves something to be desired; Needs to have more saturation or something. Overall, it works very well for what I use it for. I do use an Ebtech hum eliminator just to ensure a noiseless rig, but even without it, this amp is relatively quiet.

This amp DOES deliver tone and features, with a few exceptions.

Reliability : 10
As I said above I gig with out a backup,it is built like a tank and that coupled with the fact the amp resides in a tough road rack case is insurance enough for me. I do however notice an unexplained increase in volume at times, not sure why this is. It isnt a big deal live, but I wont record with it for that reason.

Customer Support : 9
Never dealt with them, never had problems, but the dealer told me all I have to do is bring it back under warranty and he will handle it. 3 year warranty- good warranty, could be better as this thing is built very well and any forseeable problems due to defects will probably not show until afterthe warranty period. Kustom has been around for years andisa trusted name.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing for 22 years 17 of them professionally. Ihave ownedand used just about every amp there is out there- tube and solid state. While this amp definitely cannot even come close to competing with Mesa, Marshall and Krank, It does hold its own with every other solid state amp in the price range, and even tops most.

Key features: 200 watts = F#$%IN' Loud; The clean channel issimply great. Whilethe leadchannel leaves something to be desired for all out brutal distortion. (sidenote: I plan to buy a Krank or Mesa Half stack For a lead amp and start using an A/B switch. Regardlessof what I buy This Kustom has a permanent place in my rig as a dedicated clean amp.) I simply cannot say enough about the clean channel!

If this amp was stolen I would buy another, then hunt downthe lame-o bastardthat swiped my amp and beat him with it.

Overall,I am satisfied with the soundthis amp produces and the poweris simply bone crushing. I still havea reservation about the gain on the amp, just wish it could have been more.

If you are looking for a well built feature-laden affordable amp, especially if you play rock and bluesthen this amp is definitely for you. If you must have that over the edge Zakk Wylde /Dimebag Tone, then buy a Randall or Crate or buy a pedal / processor. Thisamp is also great for cover bands as well.

Kustom 200 watt all solid state head. Bought the 200DFX head and matching angle cab in summer of 2004, not sure when it was made (most likely a 2004 model). There are two channels, each with seperate volume controls and EQ's (huge positive). There is also 8 24-bit digital effects, which only one effect can be chosen at a time.

Rhythm channel has a preamp switch for lean/fat, fat basically boosts your low end by a few decibles.

Lead channel has a preamp switch for punch/grind, which one of them basically boosts the low end as well. The gain controls for lead channel have a switch labeled BALLS/Bigger BALLS, Bigger BALLS giving you quite a strong boost in gain.

Guitar input, 1/4" aux input, line out, xlr line out, footswitch in, fx loop (have to use a splitter, tip = send, ring = return), and 2 speaker outs.

Pretty solid in the feature department. The features are great, more then most amps out there. I would give it a 9, except there is no headphone out and you have to buy the footswitch seperatly.

Sound Quality : 8
My main guitar is an ESP LTD Viper 301 (SG), I replaced the neck EMG HZ with a Seymour Duncan 59. Rosewood fretboard, mahogany body, glued on maple neck. Don't let the ESP name fool you, this guitar really has a mellow classic SG sound with a rumbly bottom end.

I also run a Budda Wah (true bypass) before the amp.

I'm going to start off by saying I'm not a high distortion player. Even when playing through a Marshall DSL or a Mesa Dual Rectifier at Guitar Center, I don't find high gain attractive. Having said that, I think the higher gain settings on this 200DFX don't sound that great either.

I do find that the lower gain settings have a unique tonal quality to them. The tones come through very tight, with a 4x12 cab it sounds very full, and it has a retro sound to it. It doesn't sound much like a tube amp, yet it doesn't sound like any other solid state I've played. I used to own a Marshall AVT50 and it cries in comparison to this 200DFX (and the price is very similar).

The lower distorted breakup sounds great on this amp. It's very natural, your guitar's tone just sings through without any tone loss. I've played through Line 6's and they eat your tone alive, and even an untrained ear can hear the difference. The analog pathway responds to your every touch, and it peaks when the volume is turned 1/4-1/2 up (if you can stand it that loud). You can roll off the volume on your guitar and this amp handles it very well.

The effects are a mixed bag, some reverbs, delays, modulations, and a tremolo. The only effect I really use is the tremolo, and even then I turn it down pretty far. It just gives me a bit of movement in my sound. The reverbs can get insanely wet sounding, and they are fine when turned down a bit I guess. I'll usually record a natural reverb with two mics anyhow (one mic up close to my cab recording my playing, the other a few feet away facing another direction to pick up the natural reverb of the room).

Clean channel is clean, you can't get much cleaner. Lots and lots of headroom. It doesn't breakup on the clean channel until well over 1/2 way up, and even then it may just be my speakers.

This amp loves to be tweaked, it can go from no bass to bassy boomy, almost no mids to vocally high mids, and low treble to ear piercing treble. If anyone thinks this amp lacks bass or is too trebly, it's because they haven't spent the time to adjust the EQ. No piece of equipment will just fall into your tonal satisfaction without time or tweaking.

I give it an 8 because it sounds great, except I'm not big on the higher gain settings.

Reliability : No Opinion
Absolutely no problems so far. I've made some silly mistakes when plugging in a recorder and a mic which gives me insanely loud feedback, and it still doesn't give me any problems. I've only had it for over a year so I can't really rate it. I wouldn't hesitate gigging this amp.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I'm sure the service is great, my local guitar shop is an authorized Kustom dealer and it would be easy as pie for me to get this thing serviced. I've heard great stories about Kustom's support before too. I can't personally vouch for customer support though.

Overall Rating : 9
For me, this amp is the best. I keep going to music shops to look for a new amp. Every time I find 'my new amp' at a guitar shop I come back home and realize the 200DFX is better then what I was playing at the guitar shops. I'm talking about playing Marshal DSL's, Crate Blue Voodoo's, Mesa Lonestars (what a great amp though) and Dual Recto's, Kustom 36's, all the Line 6 digital tone suckers, and all the usual Fenders.

There's nothing like this amp for my lower gain desires, nothing. I may eventually get a Fuzz pedal if I ever want some serious gain, but that's not in my crosshairs right now.

The best part of this amp, is it doesn't sound like every other artist out there. We've all heard Fender's, Marshall's, and Mesa's plenty before. It's time for a bit of a change, Kustom nailed a new tone.

New in 2005. I absolutely love the clean channel of the amp. I haven't used any of the effects on the amp, but I hear they are decent. This is not a full featured head like a Line 6. The power is staggering. Smallest turn of the volume makes for loud music. And it only gets louder. I don't understand how this 200 watt head can be so much louder than my 260 watt Peavey.

Sound Quality : 10
I play with a set of pedals in front of the head and stay on the rhythm channel. The sound is awesome. Without any effects, the head sounds great clean. Add in my dirt boxes, and it only gets better. Very clean, low noise.

The lead channel, on the other hand, doesn't sound as good. The eq is a lot different and tends to have too many mids. You lose all of the low end. I guess you could try to eq it, but you shouldn't have to.

I am playing a Gibson Flying V into a series of pedals and then into the amp. I many play metal or hard rock, but also play some clean parts.

The amp is versatile enough for any style I try, including jazz, heavy metal, rock and blues. 2 channels, solid state, sounds great.
It loses 2 points in features for
1. footswitch is extra - I would have paid $25 more to begin with to not have to worry about getting the footswitch later
2. Effects loop is a single jack which can be kind of a pain. An adapter will fix it, but I prefer having a separate input for both send and receive.

Sound Quality : 10
10. Perfect 10. Sounds incredible. This is solid state. I am sure an expert could tell it apart from a tube amp, but who cares. The sound of this amp in and of itself is just beautiful, warm and all that good stuff. I play heavy metal, and the distortion channels do not always have enough for me, but the tone makes up for it. Just run a decent pedal through the thicker clean channel, and you have all you need, better sound than I have heard from Marshall, Carvin, Mesa, etc...
The amp is QUIET. Even with high gain settings, this amp does not make much noise. I can yank that hush unit out of my rack now...
The amp has a lot of bass response. If you keep bass at about 8 like I usually do, expect to reduce that to about a 4 or 5 with this amp.
One last time...this amp is all about tone.

Kick - Azz amp. I am giving this amp a 10. I have been playing for 17 years. If I lost this amp I would replace it. I love everything about the amp, especially the tone. I bought a Carvin amp first, but it just did not do it for me. I will be placing the Carvin in the trunk of my car as a backup(you will find it on ebay on day:).

I think this amp was made in '04.

The amp does what I need it to do. It makes sound... and after lots of listening and adjusting it makes some really good sound.

2 channels, with 2 different pre amp voicing per channel. You have to purchase the footswitch seperate, but it's only $25... so I didn't mind picking it up. effects loop, which I don't use as of now.. head phone jack, 2 seperate line outs.

I really honestly wish I had a tube amp... but I'm not ready to drop the $1500 on that Krank Revolution yet... This amp is solid state. The amp has a DFX unit but I use only the "hall reverb" effect right now... it dosn't sound that great...

I've just practiced with this amp thus far. More than enough power.

plus they give you two pretty decent speaker cables... that was an unexpected plus.

Sound Quality : 9
When I first plugged in this amp... I was like crap, it sounds like crap... I'm going to have to send it back... The clean channel was too clean... I really like a dirty clean channel... it's part of my sound. The distortion sounded lifeless and thin at high volumes... but beautiful at low volume... I messed around with the eq and different pre-amp voicings... still no go. well I had 45 days to return it soooo I decided to try a few things. Thank goodness. I now plug my guitar into a tech 21 tri-AC overdrive pedal then into a cheap little ART tube pre-amp MP. Now I have the the dirty clean channel and my distortion has plenty of life... and I now have 3 differnt distortions to choose from.

for guitars I use : Gibson SG special and Schecter Blackjack S-1.

I have a "cheap" behringer cabinet... the one with the Jensens.

It suits my music style just fine. Rock/Punk/Hardcore/Jazz/Blues.

This amp is reasonably quiet... not too bad, I just switch to clean when the songs done... no problem

I give the sound a 5 before I bought the tri-ac and ran it thru the tube pre. but now I give the sound a.....

Reliability : No Opinion
hopefully I can rely on this head... thats why I bought it... it's my main head for now, but soon it will be my dependable solid state backup head....

my first band had a kustom pa from the 70's that kicked major butt... we dropped it alot and it always worked... hence the reason I went to for the kusom head

don't know... hopefull I won't find out.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing 10 years.

I would buy another if it were stolen or lost... I don't think you can buy a better guitar head for under $360.

It's pointless but I love the blue lights... and the overall look of the head.

I compaired this head to a couple other cheapys... this one was the best bang for the buck.

I wish it we're all tube... but hey I bought it to be a back-up and it was super cheap so I'm super happy with the head.

I believe this is the 2003 model. It is a very versatile amp and can easily create a variety of awesome tones with very little tweaking.

Sound Quality : 10
My rig consists of a BC Rich Kerry King V, a Boss GE-7 Graphic EQ, a Boss NS-2 Noise Supressor, the Kustom Quad 200 Head and matching 4x12 Cab. There are some reviews that mention that this amp is not for metal but I for one have to disagree. It comes pretty close to the guitar tone Jon Schaefer has in Iced Earth. I use a Boss EQ to boost the gain and a Boss NS-2 to clean up some of the noise from the EQ. This amp is loud as hell. I can't get it passed 9 o'clock because I drown out my drummer and bass player. Even at high volumes the amp remains smooth and focused.

Reliability : 10
The amp is built like a tank. I've only had this amp for about 6 months but it has made it this far so I believe it to be reliable. Sounds as good as the day I bought it.

I have not yet dealt with the company due to the fact that I got it from a dealer but their customer service was awesome.

I've been playing for over 12 years now and I've played through just about every amp out there. Sure, there are better amps out there but this amp can deliver similar tones without the hefty prices. In a nut shell: great price, great tones, great versatility, great amp.

Average features, but for the price you cant beat it!

3 Channels (one clean, one overdrive, and an overdrive boost button called "BALLS" :D ). Each channel has 3 EQ settings. Each Channel has 2 Pre-Amp settings (OD: Punch, Grind; Rhythm: Lean, Fat). 8 Effects (Hall Reverb, Spring Reverb, Slap Back, Delay, Chorus, Chorus/Reverb, Flange/Reverb, Tremolo).

4 Ohms, Speaker Out, Line Output, Effects Loop, and Footswitch jack. Aux In, Mic In. One guitar input.

The reason its getting 8 instead of 9 is beacuse it doesnt come with a footswitch, thats almost unheard of!

Sound Quality : 10
This thing is incredible, its just amazing. It has one of the best clean channels of any head units, and the overdrive will go from nearly clean sounding all the way to a bit heavier then AC/DC. The range of overdrive will make any blues artist fall to their knees. If your into metal, go get another amp, you have gazillions of metal amps to choose from. You can always get an overdrive pedal for metal still, but Ive never been a fan of them. Unless you have big bucks to spend on a pedal, itll ruin the point of having this head!

This amp is for the true blues/rock artist who wants a retro sound. It doesnt sound like any other amp, nor does it try to be. This amp will be emulated years from now on all those emulation units floating around. It sounds amazing no matter what guitar you plug into it.

The effects are great too! Reverb can be over the top at any high setting, slap back is a great delay! The regular delay is perfect for there being no time setting, sounds all analog. One of the best chorus effects! Flange isnt too great, and tremolo is pretty standard sounding. The effects arent the best part about this unit, but I always love reverb :). Cant play without it. Adds sooo much depth to solos that may otherwise sound dry.

Dont let tubes vs solid state fool you anymore, you would never be able to tell the difference. You can get almost any classic sound your looking for. Solid state is the future and you should never consider getting tubes without trying this head. This amp will put so many others to shame!

Looks retro, solid as a rock, Kustom has been around for awhile, solid state. This is sure to last.

3 year warranty, ill be shocked if it breaks. Dont feel the need for a backup, its solid state and 200 watts, lots of headroom. If it breaks down just after the warranty its still cheaper then getting the tubes replaced every 6-12 months.

No idea, but Kustom has been around for ahwile, im sure its great!

Overall Rating : 10
Play it wit the Kustom 412 A speaker cab, looks great. Im giving it a 10 beacuse you never come across head units like this. Amazing, it finally gives you the clean you need for blues, the distortion you need for blues with a bite, all the way to the distortion needed for all the Zeppelin AC/DC. They should change its name to The Blues Machine.

And the price!! I almost didnt look at it because I thought it was going to be another cheap head. They could sell this at twice its cost.
