I have two of these little babies!! Both manufactured in 80s (not sure which years). Bought them both second-hand in excellent condition for little cost. They are really well built and reliable tube amps and having the two of them gives me all sorts of options. I prefer the sound with the back panels removed (i.e. open back) and I have also replaced the original Fane speakers with new Pro Celestion G12T speakers. I use them in conjunction with Boss effects pedal e.g. Stereo Chorus, Overdrive and Digital Delay and sometimes a Morley Wah Pedal. Using the pedals I do not have to worry about channel switching
so I set-up the amp controls at the beginning of a gig and then tend to leave them alone! Having two of them is much preferable to lugging a Fender Twin around!! The above set-up gives me loads of power for the average gig. I play mainly blues/jazz.

Playing my Aria PE II (Les Paul style) guitar through a Boss Overdrive Pedal and then through two of these Laney Combos produces an awesome sound!! Add some digital delay or stero chorus and what can I say!

Reliability : 9
There are no particular problems with these amps which are very strong and reliable. A standby switch would have been a useful feature however.

Customer Support : 9
Laney are usually very helpful and supportive if you can get through to the right person.

Overall Rating : 10
I have no plans to replace these amps as they are so convenient and reliable. They compare very well with much more expensive tube amps and are amazingly powerful for their size.

Don't know the age but aprox. 10 years old?Two channels 6v6's 30 watts.Pull boost 3 band eq. Didn't come w/footswitch but a steal at the price!1x12 sealed combo.

Sound Quality : 9
Quiet, clean to fairly high gain distortion.Good solid sounds all around. In my amp shopping , I have yet to find anything that could match it for twice the price.Really nice w/ a Les Paul.Creamy, beefy lead and rhythm sounds.Sealed cab (pretty rare in a tube combo)makes it kick out the bass and sound bigger than most combos. It's a keeper.A+++ practice amp , could probably gig w/ it.Reverb is pretty good, not quite fender though.Great little rock amp.

To early to tell,I'll update later.

This all valve tube combo has some excelent features such as the EQ boost in the form of a pull/push switch. These boosts can make a real posotive defference to the sound, however can not really be used at a low volume. Also with three preamp volume controles and a drive channel it is a highly versatile amp. Do not be decived by its size, its very heavy.

Sound Quality : 9
the claen sound this amp offers is very high quality as is the over drive and distortion sounds. a problem i have come across is that i cant seen to obtain a high gain distortion with lots of compresion and then revert to a fully clean sound without changing the settings. Because of this i have had to use a seperate source of distortion. The Danelectro T-Bone sounds excelent with amp.

Reliability : No Opinion
I have only had this amp for a few months and have not yet used it for a gig. This amp sounds exteamely loud (for its size) in the practice room, but i would not like to use it for gig without at least a 2x12 cab.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to use customer support.

Overall Rating : 10
I will not ever get rid of this amp as its so versatile, however it would be an improvment if there were a larger gap between claen and distortion on the same settings. Compared with my old fender transister amp it is completley in a different league. This all valve product is a high quality easy to use pice of equiptment.

I have had this amp for about 15 years. I got tired of lugging my 2 4x12 Ampeg V4 stack and 50w Marshall combo around. So originally I got it becuse it was small and light. Surprise! - This amp rocks. My only complaints are a little muddy on the bottom end (hey it has a single 12) and I wish it had more balance switching between normal and overdrive. It has the basic features - nothing complicated which is the way I like it.

Sound Quality : 9
Over the years I have played SG's a couple of Les Pauls and my old standby Strat through this amp. All sound great. The amazing thing is my style has changed from hard metal to blues to country to oldies and this amp does it all. Clean sounds come out like a Fender, cruchy sounds come out like a Marshall. It can also be very, very smooth.

Reliability : 10
Over 15 years and this amp has NEVER been in the shop or failed to work. There was a brief period where it would make a funny noise now and again, but i think it was a loose tube. The problem went away by itself and has never come back.

if it ain't broke don't fix it.

This has been my only amp for 15 years and it has done everything I have asked. The only thing I would change, and the only reason I would consider a new amp is the single 12 speaker. If this could be coupled to a 2x12 or 4x12 cabinet i would be in heaven.

This to add to the one existing review. I did find one and can say, having spent half a day comparing it to everything else on the market, if you can find one at a realistic price. Buy it.

Sound Quality : 10
If you plays blues-rock and what an amp which will play clean with one string plucked, and crunchy with 2 or 3 and an overdrive that then sings. This is it. Look further than the bargain bin cosmetics (same as the solid state Linebacker series) and check the amp chassis out. This is old-school valve amp. None of your bent metal stuff 1990's stuff, but a real chassis. Very very unusual in being a British 6V6 amp. The only problem is getting valves. The Russian new 6V6' are not good. But there seem to be plenty of old valves around as they were widely used in communications gear, and not widely used (recently) in valve guitar amps.

don't yet know

Laney's web site is poor and it appears practically impossible even in the UK to find contact details. This would really piss me off if I'd bought a new amp.

played for 12 years and owned a ton of stuff (always in search of the perfect tone... like everyone).

Two channels, four 12AX7s, two 6V6's, 30 watts, spring reverb, push-pull boost knobs. One 12" Fane speaker. Classic British tube tone.

Sound Quality : 9
I've had this amp for about 8 years. I bought it used at a pawn shop, for a low volume\practice amp. This little guy sounds great. Good clean sound. Turn up the drive and get nice creamy tube grind. Kick in the overdrive channel and you can get over the top British distortion. It's a closed back amp so it has lots of 'oomph'. Sounds as good as a Marshall. You can also remove the back panel and get a more open sound. That's how I run mine.

Reliability : 8
Had to have it worked on once for cutting out, turned out was a bad capacitor. Works fine now.

I saw there was only one review of this amp, so I wanted to put in my two cents worth. I think this is a killer little amp.
I've been playing over 20 years, both pro and as a hobby. I have a Twin and a Blues Deville also. I play Strats exclusively. I love this amp, I'll never sell it. Whenever I want to plug in and wail without hooking up all my pedals and rattling the walls through one of my big amps, I just plug into this little guy and go. If you ever see one in a pawn shop for a good price, buy it.
