4 channels, 6 12ax7 and 4 el84 and a lot of insert combinations i didn't use untill now.
2 x 10". This is a blues/rock configuration, for heavier i have a Groove tubes trio/Intellifex/peavey classic50/50 rack with the 3rd ch of the Trio modified for heavy sounds. All amps are retubed recently and as saw the man knew what he was doing i let him optimize the settings. The trio/pentode is a good feature so i can use it at home as well although it is still to loud, which it had a 5w like the Lonestar Special. And i mis an overall master, now i need to raise the volume at every ch. I play this amp pure, no effects at all.

When i read other reviews it must have a totally different amp. This is not a ENGL, heavy Mesa or whatever, it's a blues amp and sounds are very clear and very loud, it's the best tube amp (el84) i ever played on( ok the lonestar special comes equal and the solo gives it a plus, but not in price). I play with no effects at all, have different Godins (LGX, LG p90, SDXT) and a very cheap jazz body with d'addario Chromes on it. The output of the p90 is very loud, i have to turn down the vol pot of the guitar. Even the jazz sounds brilliant thru this amp. I compared this amp with my friends Mesa DC3 and the Laney is better (probably cheaper too). You can dail in beautiful differences so you have 4 very good basic sounds. Guys, this is a straight forward amp, just plug in, set eq to your specs and play. I started with every thing on 12 and minutes later i had what i wanted, just need to adapted it to the guitarpu's. The sounds are very honest and you will hear directly if you need some more practice or not on this one. But was this is done it sounds like heaven.

I didn't gig with it until now and even then i still would have my other rack but i'm sure since i let service this amp, it will keep going for a long while.

This amp is one of age, like me. But you can find schematics on the internet. and i always let these amps service by people who are really tube lovers and therefore i check their credits.
A lot of people say they are specialist but when you visit a real one i assure you will hear it, money is not their first concern.
Where i go the service is a 10.

These amps are very hard to find. You see them very rarely on the internet, they were also produced at a limited number in memory of 25 year LANEY. LANEY is to me a no nonsence factory, they make very good amps at a fair price. Some boutiques are way overrated. And a good amp can help but it will still be the player who creates the sound. This amp helps a lot, as you hear a lot of detail, you will start playing better.
It's my opinion that people throw away very good amps, what is good for me. i buy them for a lot less and after some good service it's up to me to let them sing. Like i wrote above my other set is Groove tubes trio/Intellifex/peavey classic50/50 which is old to but very good sounding.

this will not give you an AC30 sound, its more like a thin fender. In fact this amp sounds thin period. I tried changing the speakers/tubes and that made just a tad of difference. I tried JJ tubes and it made it worse!!! Very icepick!!! Loud enough for a very small gig (bar with 30 people) but the treble will take their heads off!!!

This is my first tube amp. I bought it used and I think would be a good ideia take it to maintence. I can't give a real opinion about tube amps. All I can say is there is no comparision with the sound of Zoom 1010 that used to play with a CRATE 15w. The distortion is 1000% better and i can't belive that I had timed wasted with zoom !!
This amp is very loud. I can't play higher than 2 on volume knob at home.
I will give a 10 for the reason i said about my comparision

only the fourth channel is noisy at idle; overall it's a quiet amp. the clean channel isn't particularly clean, and at stage volumes the power tubes will clip - this is either good or bad depending on your point of view. It's fairly responsive as any good tube amp is to pick dynamics. Just don't expect pristine cleans outside of your bedroom. And the distortion...with five gain stages one would think it would be brutal. And it is highly saturated, but very, very different than a nu-metal recto crunch. Very thin and with very little bottom end. With EQ run in the series effects loop and running through a Mesa/Boogie Recto 4x12, I did get some bottom end but it was very muddy, indistinct, and very mushy sounding. But I suppose that's beyond the design specification for this amp to try to get that sound. In essence, consider the high-gain sounds as a Soldano preamp run through a Vox AC30.
Basically, I found the 2nd channel to be my favorite. dialed in for mild breakup, it was extremely interactive with my playing and breathed wonderfully.

this is where I found disappointment. A preamp tube went bad after only one month of ownership, which seemed odd as I bought the thing brand-new in the box. But worse, without fail, at every gig I've brought it to, the footswitch would go crazy, changing channels on its own, or refusing to switch channels on the first or even fifth click of the button. It never did this at home though, and I finally found the correlation - at very low volumes, the footswitch works fine. Cranked, it starts to act up. I have no idea why, it seems completely illogical, but whatever, it's amazingly frustrating to gig with.

feature-laden and with some very good sounds, it doesn't get them all. the stock speakers are complete garbage, union jack stickers on the magnets notwithstanding. The footswitch problems led me to retire it from gigging permanently, replacing it with a Mesa/Boogie Road King 2x12 combo, which does pretty much get any tone I could wish for. I will be selling mine very soon; perhaps it will like another player better than it did me.

i use strats, tele's and a '67 gibson 335. the tones from this baby are truly awesome !! from fender country cleans, slightly overdriven blues,SRV hot texan blues, through to high gain metal crunch ! if you can only afford one amp for gigging and recording... get one of these !ive owned fenders, boogies, vox and marshalls in my 24 yrs of playing, and this babe has replaced them all. for a british made amp it has a more mesa boogie vibe than say a marshall (which i stay away from, as the marshall sound is used by every band on the planet). although the plexi eara marshalls are so cool for the jimi vibe, but at 4000 bucks a shot ....ill hold on to the c-o-z and put a 70's mxr distortion plus in front of it.
wish they still made them, two running in stereo would make a fantastic rig.

If youve read the other reviews youll know what this sucker can do i love that its class a and i love that its only 30 watts i also have a gh50l head and its xtra loud with this use the triode/pentode switch and set it so theres only about 15 watts and crank the shit out of it it sounds damn good and is the loudest 15 watts ive ever heard more than youll ever need in a band situation trust me its loud

this thing is versatile with the four channels i dont use any fx just a wah thats it just straight in the fx loop works well too but i only use it as a boost by setting it in the side chain setting with a passive volume pedal and using the fx master as how much booost i want sounds like a strange thing to do but works well if you want a volume boost not a gain boost

I love that british sound and i think laney have nailed it pretty well the only thing i HATE about this amp is h and h speakers which is laneys speaker mob they are useless i changed the speakers to jensens in the combo which made a HUGE HUGE difference to the sound but most of the time i unplug them and use my 412 vintage 30 box and with the better speakers its a little ball tearer

Bought this amp second hand,
2 channel with seperate eq and effcts for each channel each channel has a drive side to it efectively making it a 4 channel.
has the most versatile effects loops i have seen with a seperate one for each channel and a master effect loop, with a mix level for each channel
pre amp out power am in
triode pentode switch which reduces the output and alters the tone slightly
damping switch seems to damp the sound but damping is more on 1 than 2
everything that you need and expect on a pro amp

I use strats and teles with humbuckers and single coils in both no les pauls yet :(
The style and sounds this amp can make are incredible i wish i had bought one twenty years ago.
it can go from a very clean fender/country tone to almost a screaming marshall heavy sound.
i find slightly noisy compared to my solid state setup using 2 session amps but people listeny say its very quiet
the volume could be a little louder but it is loud enough i can get feedback at twenty feet without the amp straining or being near top volume
the distortion is very clear which i think is more important than brutal it can make a lot of the classic distortions
the insert bit at the back and the little volume knob make a huge difference its just a shame that its use its hidden away in the manuals small print it really makes it scream

Two ch. with switchable drivemodes. Independent eq. Onboard reverb. 4- way footsw. Pentod/triodsw. 3-way dampingsw. On the backside you will find Independent parallel loops(can also run joined together). When joined together you still can set each ch`s using the two effectknobs on the front. Compareing the c-o-z with my other laney. LC-30, I was disapointed. I fully agree with the usercomments prasing the LC-30. The c-o-z has all the flexability you`ll ever need, but it has lost the LC-30-vintageness. After hours of playing,(trial and error) i found out the c-o-z`s secret. THE LOOPS. This is the way to that old golden sound.
Set the sidechainloop to "insert". You can now operate The amp. "mastervolumvise" Dail in outputlevel. Conect your favorite ext. effect to the par.send and return jacks. It is posible to conect the send and return using an ordinary stompboxcord, without the fx. and still it greatly improves your tone.
