Made around 1998 I think. The amp is versatile for you also get a separate, very decent, electric channel. It's as clean as the acoustic channel but you can crank it up to a heavy (VERY HEAVY)distorted level. Channel switching, effects loop, headphone jack ...etc. Wished it had a XLR-input. The new types does have that ! Solid state.

Warm. Not as good as my Trace Elliot TA100R but far better than my Marshall AS80R. ALMOST NO FEEDBACK ! Some hiss. For the price this amp is amazing.

I play for 25 years. My gear: a lot. You may check my homepage: http://www.xs4all.nl/~ervanel/
Love the tilted back on this one. If it was stolen, well I owe the Trace and a Fender Acoustasonic Jr is coming in soon. But: yes, I would buy it again (the second-hand value must be incredibly low since it costed me new EUR 260). If you don't have the bucks: buy Laney and forget about Marschall, Crate, Ibanez or any amp up to 700 dollars.

THis Amp is amazing! I bought it becasue of its features. I'd read the reviews here before, but never realized it's potential until I had purchased it myself.
Basically, it's two amps in one- you got an electic channel with EQ's, Reverb, OverDrive, and and acoustic channel with EQ's, Reverb, and Feedback Filter. 10 inch specialized speaker, 5 inch (i think) switchable tweeter. External effects loop.
But that's not all. The Distortion, Reverb, and even channels are foot-switchable. It also has a wedge design which can greatly help to hear the sound at a lower volume in a practive setting(the cabinet can tip back to about a 45 degree angle). THe amp can be configured to play the Accoutic and Electic Channels independantly or simultaneously. The unit also has a switchble tweeter which adds great defination to the upper end level.
I run a mixer through the acoustic channel, and my electric through other. even my $10 micrphone sounds great through it. I had my first live accoustic performance just a week ago and it sounded great.
One of the coolest features of this amp is the DI/LINE insert. You can hook up a regular discman's input to it, and the power amp will amplify that signal. I turned my discman up to about 2.5 and my ears were hurting. I wouldn;t recommend this because you don;t have any control over the frequencies, but If youhave a mizer of another EQ it works great. I've D.J.'d two dances wiht this mixer including, kareoke and live solo preformances. It does a great job in each of these situations.
you can also use this amp as a head for a larger cabinet- never tried it, but I;d love to someday!!
I'm geting a rock band together this summer, and I'm excited to actually have some real equiptment to play through. Both channels sounds great with their respective guitars, and I can't wait to show my off my amp on stage. I ahve also used it for recording purposes with my home computer. Email me if you;d live a sound sample- please tell me what youd liek to hear, and I can post in on my personal webpage for you.

My guitars are Ibanez's TCY10 accoustic/electic, and Ibanez's GAX70 electric. Both about $200 guitars, but they sound great throught shi amp.
With the tweeter swtiched in the electic channel defiantely need a drop on the high EQ, but I really like the definatition the tweeter adds to the sound.
The effects are great. sometimes I find the reverb can be too much for my taste, so its rarely travels

unfortunately after waiting three weeks formy amp to arrive,I took it home and played it for about 15 minutes, before it started to really pick up some static, which increased until the amp eventauly just started to buzz, and that is all it did.
I got a replacemnt the next day, and it did the same thing. The guy at the music store tought it might be a bad batch. They send another replacemnt and that one has wroked great ever since. At first I wasa bit iify about using it without a backup, but I basically have no other choice!! But the other two defective amps failed after only a few minutes, nad I;ve left mine one for more than six hours at a toime, so I expect no future problems. If they are probelms to come I expect laney will speedialy get them fixed. I have heard great things about their service.

1 yr factory warranty- the store I bought it through adds another two years to that. That's makes it a great, safe, investment.
I never actualy dealt wiht laney wiht the two defective amps, so I'll have to give Laneya ten here.

This amp is just so amazing. you can do anything wiht it. I even hooked it up to my VCR one day to get that theater-poer sound, and that sounded great. What more could I say? THis amp had got great features an awsome potential. Basically just a small PA system wiht built-in effects!! Its a killer deal!!

This is one of the new range of electric/acoustic amps from Laney. The EA65 and EA120 replace the GC50A and GC80A. They started selling them in the UK in summer 98.
The model features two channels, both with a choice of High/Low level input sockets (for active or passive pickups, presumably), normal gain, three-band EQ, and reverb level control.
The left hand channel is for acoustics, and does the job really well - especially as there is a bullet tweeter you can swtitch in, to supplement the 12 inch speaker.
The electric channel additionally has an overdrive option, with separate Drive and Level knobs . You pull out one of these to switch into Drive mode, or alternatively use a foot-switch.
Indicator LEDs show you which channel is live and whether or not the Drive is switched in.
There is a master reverb on-off switch (also foot-switchable) and a master Volume control, and a Channel switch to select between Acoustic and Electric channels. However, round the back you can over-ride this with a switch to leave both channels open at the same time, meaning that two guitarists can play through the amp at once if desired (or indeed you could put a high impedance mike through the other channel - thanks to the tweeter this sounds remarkably good). This "both channels at once" feature is an improvement over the earlier models, I'm told.
Also round the back we have an Effect Send/Return, a DI/Line Out, power on/off and the foot-switch sockets. Another nice feature is that the internal 12" speaker (8 ohms) can be unplugged. You can then choose either to direct the amp output to an alternative speaker (down to 4 ohms), or alternatively connect a different amp to the comob's speaker and just use the Laney as a speaker cabinet.
Nattiest feature of all is the "tilt back" option due to the wedge shaped design - a feature of several new Laney models. The combo can either stand upright or tilt back at 45 degrees - ideal for home practice when you're sitting down with the amp at your feet, and also ideal if the amp is doubling as your stage monitor when you're DI'd through the PA.
The cabinet is a closed-back design and the unit is very heavy - two strap handles would have been better than one.
9 out of 10 for features. A graphic EQ on the acoustic channel (which you get with the EA120 but not the EA65) is the only thing keeping it from 10.

The acoustic channel, with the tweeter switched in, sounds great with my Ovation Celebrity. A nice sparkly sound.
The electric channel is similarly good, with a very satisfying Drive sound, whne used with my Hohner SE35 (335 copy).
The volume is unbelievable. The closed back design makes for tremendous projection, and a very good bass response. On a wooden stage this can be too much - I've stood this amp on a beer crate before now because the bass player claimed I was poaching on his territory!
A high impedance mike through either channel, with the tweeter switched in, sounds remarkably good - small PA standard. Of course, when the tweeter is switched in, it's used by both channels. You may have to compensate for this by cutting unwanted treble on the other channel.
The spring reverb is good.

Actually, my first one had a duff capacitor which failed within a few weeks. My Laney dealer replaced the amp with a new one - no problems since. It's built like a tank.

For the guitarist who plays electro-acoustic and electric, and doesn't want two amps, or for a singer/guitarist who wants his guitar amp and PA in one, or for a two guitar duo, this is THE amp to get. And it's a good price too (RRP is #319 - I paid #279).
It's so loud, you needn't get the EA120, unless you simply must have that graphic EQ on the acoustic channel.
