I think this amp was made in 1993 or 1994 but I just got mine recently as I part exed it for my marshall. It has 30 watts of power it is a strange amp because it isn't quiet and isn't loud but I isn't loud enough to go gigging. The one problem is the Hi input - it sucks balls cos it doesn't work it seems as if it isn't conected but I know other people with this problem too so it seems Laney couldn't be bothered to connect it

For a 30 watts amp it fares quite well for starters it has a superb clean sound as do most laneys but the overdrive and distortion is very dissapointing due to the lack of options with it you can change the drive by turning it up and down and you can fiddle with the equalization WOW isn't that a lot of things the reverb redeems the situation a little . I have been using my limited edition SG with it The SG has dual Alcino v57 hombuckers on it and the amp habdles it quite well good clear sound on the clean - sucks balls on overdrive

It looks a sturdy amp but I can't help thinking that it is going to quit on me all of a sudden. I wouldn't gig with it due to this but in terms of actually breaking down it hasn't so it has to get a high score

I like the fact that it is pretty light, a whole lot lighter than the half stack my dad traded for it. I wish it had an external speaker jack, but I got my use out of it. It lasted me about 6 or 7 years. I used it mainly for practice and school jazz band. It had plenty of enough power for that, but not enough for the kind of stuff i do now.

I used alot of single coil pickups with it, and it got decent sound, i really liked the sound of it with my les paul running through a peavey tg raxx preamp. This amp is super quiet though. All in all, i do not like the overdrive, really bad sounding for a british amp.But i love the reverb

It lasted about 5 years before things started going wrong, i got huge feedback, but i played it loud and i played it long. After i moved i put it in a storage room for about 3 years, then i got it back out and it worked fine for the next 4 months, then it just quit working. I wouldnt use it for a gig without a backup.

I have been playing for almost 10 years, and at 14 years of age, im really picky about amps. I would not buy this amp again, i sold it about 4 months ago. I love the fact that it is really light in weight, but i do not like the distortion at all, it is really broken up and sounds like someone burping (thats the only way to describe it), but the clean channel rules. I have compared it to a behringer amp (amps i refuse to own) and that behringer whooped its tail, the behringer was the 100 watt v-ampire. All in all, it was ok for practice, but i wouldnt use it now.

This is a great amp. I use it for blues, rock, and clean jazz. I have a gibson les paul, and i get GREAT TONE from this amp. I got it about 4-6 years ago as a christmas present, and I was always skeptical of the sound it put out because it only cost 200 and some dollars. But since then I've become a much better guitarist, and I began to realize that this amp cooks if you know how to set it up right. The amp has JUST ABOUT everything I need. It has a high and low input, a remote jack for a switching pedal (if you can find one), an effects loop, reverb (spring maybe?? I hear springs when i set it down when its on so thats the conclusion ive come to), a GREAT drive/level combo, and a headphone jack. The amp is 30 watts. I like to set the bass at 5, mids at 7.5 and the treble at 6, GAIN knob at about 4.5, and I usually just leave the level on at about 4, with the drive set at about 1.5->2. I find that this works really well when I have my blues driver hooked up at 12 oclock all around, I can just hit the blues driver, and i instantly get a double crunchy sound because the way level is set on the amp. It's kind of like having two overdrive pedals, one set a little lower than the other, and then turning them both on for some cool tone. This is a solid state amp. It's 30 watts, and it's real loud for it's size, TRUST ME, the volume at 4 on the amp makes my walls shake in my bedroom.

I use this with a gibson les paul studio, it suits my musical style because i can play anything on it, and thats what matters. It's a little noisy, and gives a little hum, but no big deal, besides, turn up when you wanna play, turn down if you aren't. I'd say this amp has a great deal of variety to it. You can set the level/drive low and get some great bluesey stuff, or crank it up to drive 10, and you get pure metal crunch. The clean channel is great with my gibson, and ive never had a problem. The distortion is comes with rules.

THE MAIN PROBLEM WITH THIS AMP: The high input jack is not directly connected to the PC board. The input jack needs to be replaced if you're planning on gigging, because the one it comes with is JUNK.

I've played for 6 years, I like this amp, but I'll probably replace it with a nice tube amp from allenamps.com for gigging because in the quest for good tone, you realize that tubes are almost a must. However, this amp will not get trashed, I will continue using it as a backup and as a practice amp because it has a lot of cool features.

I use a Washburn N1 and an Epiphone Les Paul standard. Both guitars have double humbuckers. If you're looking for a heavy sound this amp is perfect.I tend to play blues.I think the GC30 is disapointing for blues,in particular with high notes. The amp has a low tone and this is noticed in particular when playing clean.I would recomend the amp as a good practice amp, but only if you want a heavy low tone.Overall the amp isn't good at versatility, but if you want that low heavy metal sound it is good for practicing.

I don't do gigs so i can't give an opinion for gigging. I use the amp for recording and practicing at fairly low levels.I have turned it up loud several times and it handels high volumes well.I've had it for about 10years and never had any problems what so ever.

I have been playing 3years properly on the guitar, but the amp was bought by my dad ten years ago when he started playing.I have a small recording studio.I use cubasis Vst 4.0,a Proteus 2500,a Lexicon Mpx200,a panasonic SX-KC200 keyboard,a Washburn N1 and an Epiphone Les Paul.If the amp were stolen or lost i doubt i'd buy another, but only because i'm after a tube amp for a blues sound and to be fair the GC30 wasn't designed to be that sort of amp.I love the overdrive, the FX loop and that it is a very good amp for the money (I don't know the price exactly ,but i think between 150 and 300 pounds.I hate that it is poor at high tones and clean tones.Overall it's great for metal and other heavy stuff for practicing, but it is only average in other areas e.g high notes.

it may not include all the hi-tech fancy features you would find on the more elaborate amps. but for its price it quite good. It has the standard controlls with built in distortion and remote jack. You could also connect aditional speakers from the jack behind. Good sounding and hardy basic model.

I was surprised at the power this amp has, i have tryed many types and ranges of amps. but this model surely is loud and seems louder than 30w. Its sound quality is quite good and satisfactory, sounds good with some fx pedal on it and that i found boosts it up even more. you can obtain a wide range of sounds on it and the built in distortion is actually quite good.

It is surely a hardy amp and could withstand much use. The only minor problem i had was with the input jack, it came loose and had to be adjusted because it was making a funny buzzing sound but fixing it was nothing really.

In all it is very hardy and sounds great. The best thing about it in my opinion is its loudness compared to other 30w. models. I have had it over a year now and has not given me any major trouble it is quite reliable.

Clean , Overdrive , 30 watts , Reverb and several other things on this GC30 , anyway .. This baby kicks some ass , I could play from Death Metal to Blues with "a touch and a click" .. Never need to cranck this baby up cuz' i'm afraid it would destroy something with it's soundwaves .. :-D

Mostly this Laney needs to withstand some pretty fucking rough metal , but sometimes I go off and play Chuck Berry .. this Laney just smiles and says "Alrite let's go , give it all ya got" .. from Clean to overdrive with a pull , that's really like it .. The sound from the amp is really beautifull , not distorted at all (unless with my distortion on HAHA .. euhr .. ) Watch out by the way , or the sound of this amp will kick you in the nuts !

The GC30 is a finely crafted solid-state amp that puts out a powerful 30 watts., 2 channels with independent volume/drive knobs, master volume knob, shared EQ, reverb, footswitch jack, headphone jack, effects loop and power switch on the back. It has clean and overdrive channels and a good sounding reverb.

For a 30 watt amp, the GC30 is very capable even at high volume. Its clean channel has a very crisp sound that, with a little reverb, sounds as good as I have ever used! By pulling the distortion knob, the GC30 has an extremely diverse overdrive channel. It ranges from a smooth drive to a really metallic sound or a deep, thick distortion; (although I prefer using the clean channel set to a high level gain and low master volume for a great tube overdrive sound). The tone controls work well and give you a lot to work with.
Yes I said tube overdrive sound! It is very responsive to the way I pick and get as much change in response as my Marshall Plexi's (72 & 74)ever gave. The 10" H/H Loaded speaker is excellent and has that British edge in sound. Sure the low end starts to drop off at the loudest settings, but so does my 71 Fender Bandmaster using 2 2-12 cabinets.
I mostly use a 76 Gibson "The Paul" and a 71 Fender Strat. Both guitars work well with this amp. The Paul will growl and let me get the classic rock tones as well as the bright Beach Sound rythems. The strat can get the sweet bell tones to the full drive Satch and even the Cream -Clapton tones. I jam regularly with a friend using a Marshall 50 watt 2-12 combo and another using a 68 Fender Vibrolux with 1 10". I have no problems keeping up with either amp and seem to have a lot more toneality than theirs. It is just cleaner and more defined.
As a giging musician, I have always used my 100w Plexi or the Bandmaster on stage until now! I have taken this little tone beast and using a Shure SM57 (dynamic - how about that) and have as good a sound as ever! I promise, I am more surprised than anyone.
I did try unplugging the internal speaker and using it with a Mesa 1-12 cabinet. I changed speakers several times just to see how it would do. I used a Vintage Celestion, JBL, AAL, Jenson, EVM, Fane and a Sheffield. The Fane was by far the most defined in this set up. But the 10" H/H Loaded stock speaker out did them all! It is great as is. Yeah the reverb is too strong, but just use a little. Now I don't have a hugh rig to carry around and I have better control of the stage volume. (My singer is sooo happy with the smaller amp/volume on stage). My back is also sooo much happier!

I have been playing in bands since 1964. I have 3 Marshall 100's Stacks (2 w/Celestions and 1 w/JBL's), a Fender Bandmaster Reverb w/2 2-12 cabs (1 w/JBL's and 1 w/Altecs). I have a Mesa 1-12 cab (I change speakers for the mood of the month). A Johnson Stage 25 w/Celestion. MXR vintage 70's Chorus, Distortion +, Flange and Phase 90. Boss Delay, ADA Harmonizer, Digitech Delay/Chorus, Boss Heavy Metal Pedal, Ibanez Tube Screamer, Cry Baby Wah, Univibe. Leslie Tone Cabinet (all original). Tons of PA, Mikes, Lights, Amps, Several Boards, monitors, etc...Les Paul, Strat, Jaguar, Jackson, PRS, Yamaha, Carvin and ES335 guitars.
I would have to find another amp like this one if it were gone. I wll get more use from this amp than I would ever have believed. I bought this amp as a favor to a friend out of a job. I had to take him out for a steak dinner recently out of guilt for getting such a good deal.
Hey, this is not the end all for amps, it's just a damn good little english edge sound tone monster that fits what I need. I think it would be good for a lot of uses and styles. Give one a try if you can find it!

What do you need in a Combo? It gives me everything. So it doesn't have built in effects. Most built in effects combos offer shity sound quality unless you pay a grand. I love it much more than my Crate with built in effects.
