2009 Model Lazy J 20
Amp is perfect for Blues / Rock / Country - Anything!
Straight ahead tweed combo. Who needs options?
You can order with additional Reverb if you require.
I play the amp at blues gigs & at home (I have a pot that takes it down to 5W).
Tweed amp that is built the way you imagine a tube amp should be built.

Sound Quality : 10
I play a 56 Relic & a Clapton Strat.
It is great for that classic Clapton / Gilmour et al tone.
The Clapton Strat really drives it but my 56 relic is my No.1.
The amp is dead quiet.
The amp also takes very well to pedals if required but I like to just plug in and play.
On the max it sounds superb.

Reliability : 10
The Lazy J 20 is built very well with only the best quality parts.
I've tried a few tube combo's for size and it does not require re-biasing which is handy.
6 months or so in and all is good.

Jesse is a gent.
After a few emails you know he cares and is very friendly & helpfull.
If only all things in life where as straightforward.

Overall Rating : 10
If like me you are after that great tweed tone in a 20watt rating then look no further.
The fact it can drop down to 5w is handy for the house too.
I get to enjoy playing my "main" amp all the time.
In fact it's now my only amp.

A Fender Tweed Deluxe recreation, with the personal touch of Jesse Hoff (6L6's and Alnico Blue speaker, as mentioned below)I ordered mine with the optional reverb unit, controlled by foot switch. You can ask from Jesse to built yours how you want it though. Amazing tone

Sound Quality : 10
I use a Telecaster, the guitar sounds amazing through the amp.
Several friends tried it, with NOCASTER, LES PAUL 2008 STD, Eric Johnson Stratocaster, every guitar sounded amazing, both at clean and distortion settings. Also tried some OD pedals(Crazy Tube Circuits Ziggy, Xotic BB , Xotic AC+, ZVEX Box Of Rock etc). This amp LOVES them.

Reliability : No Opinion
It's new so don't know. But the amp is very well built.

Customer Support : 10
Jesse will help you with everything you need-want.(as an old friend)

He will give you ideas how to trick the amp to get it as you want.

He will check and re-check the amp before he will sent you the amp, to be 100% happy with the result.

I'm sure that if I'll any problem at the future, or any question, he will be happy to answer.

Overall Rating : 10
I'm sure that I'll keep this amp forever.

A great, top quality(both built and sound) handmade amp.

AMAZING TONES!!!

I've got my Lazy J 20 combo amp about a week ago. It was handed over to me by the builder/designer/soundmaster himself. We met in a London music shop during a short stay in London. About the amp: a beautiful piece! It has 2 channels. One bright, one normal. And one tone-control. The channels have a separate input but they are interactive, meaning they influence eachother. The sounds you can get from the amp are very coloured by the guitar you play. But after a week of playing with different guitars through the Celestion Alnico Blue speaker I can tell you this.... It is hard to find a guitar that sounds like crap through this amp! The amp is very powerful. I haven't tested it during gigs but i am shure the staggering tone will cut through the mix like a knife through hot butter. The cabinet is made of solid wood. Looks and feels very durable. Inside of the amp, everything is handwired. And after a quick look under the hood,I can tell you that Lazy J used only the best components. Nice! This is every guitarplayers dream!

I played with Les Pauls (Junior with P90, les paul Deluxe with Mini-Humbuckers) Standard Fender Telecaster and Danelectro Dano Pro 57 with lipstick pickups.... They all sound amazing. I throughly hear things i've never heard before with my other amps. At high volumes the amp goes into a nice distortion that never hurts the ears (AND THE AMP GOES REALLY LOUD FOR A 20 WATT AMP!)
Because Lazy J told me he has based his amp on the design of the old Fender Deluxe, I went to the nearest music shop today to test one of those FENDER DELUXE 57 reissues and I must say... They sound like crap compared with the Lazy J 20! The Fenders sounds weak, dull and are very hard to distort. The Lazy J starts to roar when you turn the volume knob above 3! I've been a Fender fan all my life. But that has changed since i've met Lazy J

The amp looks and feels like a tank. There are no computers inside. only wire. And Tubes. So yes! I think you can depend on it. I will use it this friday for my first gig.

The Lazy J Amp has a warranty of one year. But after meeting Lazy J himself I know that I can always contact him if I have a problem. He always picks up the phone. When he gave me the amp he checked everything twice. He would have never let me go without doing so. He looked like a concerned father sending one of his babies of to Belgium.

I've been playing guitar for almost 20 years now. Because i record a lot i am very focused on sounds. This amp sounds fantastic. When it got stolen, I would place a new order in seconds. I love the simplicity! It is just like an old car: it looks great, feels great and makes a sound that makes your heart pound faster!

Basically a copy of a Fender Tweed Deluxe but with a few differences e.g 6L6's instead of 6V6's,Celestion Alnico Blue speaker and around 20 watts output. I got mine fitted with a VAC just to make it a bit more recordably friendly!! Jesse Hoff will make it how you want it though!! Standout feature is the TONE!!!

Sound Quality : 10
Great clean sounds to out and out tweed style distortion. It's a players amp, I just plug in and play, Tele, Strat, LP you name it, it sounds fab!!!

It's new so don't know but 100% sure Jesse will sort you out in the event of problems

Overall Rating : 10
As I said it's a players amp so people who are used to channel switching may find this amp odd. I love it, the idiosyncracies of the volume controls, loads of tonal variation available if you experiment. A very characterful handmade amp for less than 2/3 of the price of the Fender equivalent and a better amp to boot. Who could ask for more??

This amp is based on the Fender Tweed Deluxes from the 1950's although options such as reverb and attenuating/power scaling and other extras are available to order. Jesse himself is a lover of the originals and has just added options for extra versatility while retaining the vibe and look of the original.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a relic strat into a Lazy J Cruiser boost/overdrive pedal with Teese WOF wah into an Arion chorus splitting the signal to 2 of these amps with a plex tape delay going into 1 amp after the split signal. One amp has reverb & attenuation added with the other stock but for a switchable rectifier option. With this stereo setup you can mix the characteristics of both amps to create a really fat sound. I use the Boost pedal just to push the amps into natural overdrive territory.

Reliability : 10
I've had one of these for about 8 months now and I am quite sure there will be no problems. Jesse Hoff is very approachable anyway when it comes to his equipment.

Customer Support : 10
Jesse would treat all customers the same whether they're a name musician or not, he's that type of guy.

This is now part of my full time rig and my vintage Hiwatts have now been retired unless I happen to get asked to play Wembley Stadium!
I just play in a function band nowadays doing events, clubs/pubs etc.
Having played 25 years I've gone through my fair share of gear and can honestly say this is now the best setup I've ever had. I like Jeff Beck, Tommy Bolin, Mahavishnu, Hendrix, Coryell, really all types of Rock, blues and jazz in general and these amps handle it all. They're not cheap but you're getting a top quality hand wired valve amp that is used by a lot of industry pros to special order, they are not mass produced, in fact I hear that only about 2 a week are made. I think they are however value for money when you consider the workmanship and the quality of components that have gone into building these amps, the Celestian Blue Alnico speaker alone is nearly ??200. Jesse builds the amps from start to finish even constructing the boxes out of pine ensuring excellent build quality all the way through the process.
If you buy one of these I believe you won't regret it no matter what your musical style is.
