This amp was restored by someone who rebuilt the cabinet out of pine and covered with tweed and they did a pretty good job of that. Metal corners and a nice leather strap. The material needs to be varnished and I'm doing that now.
I not all that impressed with the amp the way it is. It really only suitable for my electric piano. Maybe a pedal steel? Definitely not a hot guitar amp that breaks up nicely at low volume.
the schematics I have for it are dated 2-57 but I doubt this amp is that old. Maybe it is. The thing is, the tubes listed in the schematics are:
12AY7,12AY7,6V6GT,6V6GT,6SJ7,& 6X5GT but factory painted onto the chassis where the tubes go, it says 12AX7 for the first two tubes and I'm not sure about the others. It's in pieces in my parents cellar while I'm varnishing the tweed so I'll have to check.
What tube changes can I make to get this to scream like my Epi Valve Jr., only a little bigger amp? If 12AX7 is the highest gain preamp tube(according to the tubestore.com gain chart) what can be done. I do not want to use a pedal. they all sound like ****. I want an old small amp that overdrives natural. I'd rather have three different amps than **** with effects pedals.

doesn't get used much. It's completely restored with a pine cabinet. it's not original. The original chipboard probably dissolved long ago.

The amp has two channels, each with two inputs, as well as a tremelo.
The amp also has a 12" speaker.A volume and a tone knob for each channel and speed and intensity controls for the trem.

O.K. This amp is about fifty years old and has fake tweed covering.
Each of the inputs for each channel drives the power amp at differnt levels. This amp is SOO killer. I play an early 80's Harmony strat copy through it and this is what tone. The embodyment of tone. Ya know when all the old farts are always goin on about how much new amps suck........They say that because they grew up playing on this thing!
No distortion unless you turn it to about 6, I wouldnt risk going past that cause the speaker wont handle much power. THE BEST tube distortion that Ive ever heard. Words cant describe it. I'll try........with volume and tone knobs both on 4 the sound is anything from old school surf tones to the coolest blues tones that youve ever heard, and the amp is SOOO responsive to playing style and picking changes....Like it sees what your playing and "breathes" into your pickups for an awesome sound. With it all on 6 the tubes glow real nice(2x6v6 / 2x12ay7)and you get the most life like gritty tube drive that will clean up or break up with volume changes and will sustain for days. I wish they still made amps this nice.....sigh.

Well, dad got this for me for a dollar at an auction and brought it home. It didnt work because the capacitors were all dried up and the pots were REAL dirty. I took it to friend who did a real hack job on it......then I took it to another friend who knew what he was doing nad he got it working real nice, though the tremelo is not working properly, it has a thump to it when you yurn it past 1 and you have to keep the speed all the way up to prevent unwanted swells in output.
other that that this amps has outlived many of the people I know from that generation......oh yeah, Im some dorky 17 year old kid from Indiana. Its a tank
