As mentioned in one of the other reviews, this cabinet was made as a companion to Lexicon's Signture 284 recording amp. It is unusual in that it a stereo cab, with separate inputs for each speaker to work with the 284 amp, which has stereo outs for cabs. After some investigation, I have discovered that the installed speakers were specially made for Mojo Tone, who assembled the cabinet, by Eminence. They are called the M10RRand Eminence doesn't make them anymore. They are 10 inch, 8 ohm, 50 watt speakers, with a 1.5 inch voice coil and a 20 ounce magnet. The cabinet itself is compact, but relatively deep, with a closed back. The speakers are angled outward for good sound separation and wider dispersion. Construction is top-notch, very solid, with a black tolex covering and black grill cloth. A Lexicon logo is in the upper right corner and a SB-10 logo in the lower left corner, with blue piping around the outside of the speaker enclosure. A sturdy black rubberized handle is on top. It's fairly light and portable. Black metal corner protectors and rubber feet are all included. For a cab, it's very full featured in design and construction.

This cab is awesome. I have the Signature 284 amp, which it is designed to work with. It is a stereo out, low wattage (3 Watts each channel), Class A tube amp and it rocks with this cab. The speakers have incredible low end and are loud, probably due to the 20 ounce magnets and the 100db sensitivity. They have a sweet clean sound but break up beautifully. The angling of the cabinet throws speaker response over a large area, which is perfect for a closed back cabinet, as the sound doesn't disperse out the back and so becomes very focused. I play a Les Paul Studio Lite, Fender Custom Telecaster (Nashville setup), Anderson Hollow Drop Top, Carvin Bolt (Stratocaster style) and Carvin SC90 (Les Paul style) through this cab and they all sound awesome. It sounds like a much bigger cabinet than you'd expect from a 2x10. I've also used the speakers individually with my ZVex Nano Head, a .5 watt (distorted), all tube amp head (incredible little amp), and it is to die for tone wise. Perfect recording setup. Live, depending on the amp used, you would have to mike the cab, but it will fill a medium size club/pub with the Sigature 284, which puts out a very loud 3 watts of Class A sound per side. I should mention that the stereo option is great because with a stereo amp like the 284, you can really vary the sound through each speaker and this cab is up to the task. The best small cab I could ever imagine using.

It's a simple, well-built cabinet and it's been exeptionally durable. One small issue was when I bought it as new old stock from a dealer, the right-side speaker wasn't working. When I opened up the cabinet (not an easy process as there are about 20 screws) and went in, I discovered that the speaker had not been soldered in like the other one. It had just twisted wire leads on the speaker, one of which had shaken loose. Quick solder job and no problem, but it shouldn't have been that way in the first place. I'm guessing they found a bad speaker, or it was a return, and they put in a replacement speaker. Good news is that it matched the other speaker, bad news is that it was shoddily done, so , points off. Otherwise, no worries or problems.

I didn't bother trying to get it fixed for the speaker issue as it was an easy fix and I didn't want to let it out of my sight. I think there is a warranty, but it's a legacy product as Lexicon doesn't make these (or commission Mojo Tone to make these) anymore. It's not that complicated to fix though.

Overall this is a fantastic cabinet. It sounds and looks great and the stereo option is both necessary for my Signature 284 amp and useful for other amps. I'm going to experiment with using my Nano Head with a Y cable to run to both speakers. It will drop the speakers to 4 ohm resistance and raise the Nano's output to 1 watt distorted, but it shouldn't hurt anything and I think it will sound awesome If a speaker blew, I might experiment with putting in the new Celestion 10s. In addition to the Tube 10, which is 30 watts with a 17 oz magnet, Celestion has a new 10" Alnico speaker (15 Watt rating) and a new vintage-voiced 10" with a 60 watt rating and 31 oz magnet. I really like the Eminences though and might just look for them again too. Compared to other 10" guitar cabs I looked at, this is an incredible cab. Even at the price I paid, which is higher than the other reviewers, it is well-worth it compared to custom cabinets or a pair of single 10' cabs like the Marshall mini-stacks. The build quality and design characteristics are unique for my use and it is especially voiced and matched to the Lexicon 284 low watt amp I have. I have been playing since the '70's, acoustic and electric guitar, and have pretty much gotten rid of my high wattage stuff in favor of home/recording volume equipment that can still be used for jams and occasional small gigs. This cab is a perfect match for my low wattage amps (tube and solid state). I haven't tried it with my Tech 21 Trademark 10 (another incredible low wattage amp), but it should work fine as another gig option where more volume is needed but light equipment is useful. I should mention that I also have an Avatar G112, which is a partial open backed cabinet loaded with a Celestion GH12 I use and it complements that cab well for uses where a tighter sound is desired with more fullness than a single 10" speaker can give you. The Avatar is a great product and I recommend them but they don't do any 10" cabs. If you can find one of these, they are really the best in this category I've ever seen. The only thing that would make them better is if they were wired for serial use in addition to stereo. Oh well, you can't have everything.

This is a 2x10 stereo closed back cab made by Mojo Tone for Lexicon Signature 284 recording amp. It has two 10", 35W, 8 ohm speakers in a very well built "deep" cab.

I own a Signature 284 and bought this on eBay out of curiosity. I was initially pissed because of the high price I had to pay (an eBay war), but when I got it and tried it at home I realized it's really well worth the money. On paper the speakers are not top notch, but they are just fine in this cab construction and although I'm an alnico snob I don't see a need to replace them.

This cabinet was made circa 1999. It's sealed and has two powerful 10 inch speakers. The speakers must be angled to the sides a bit, because the spread of the sound is unbelieveably wide. There are stereo input jacks, and the cabinet is quite compact.

I use a couple of guitars including a Fender U.S. Fat Strat and an Ibanez RG570. I use a rack setup with a Hafler (Bogner) Triple Giant tube preamp into a TC Electronics G-Major into a Marshall EL84 20/20 into the SB210. All gear is plugged into an XTA power conditioner. An ART X-11 controller handles all the patch & channel changes. I love this rig, especially for studio work & high profile gigs. I get incredible tone & versatility in a very compact setup.
The SB210 is a critical part of the chain. The speakers are very efficient and sound wonderful. I'm not sure what's in this cab, but it sounds like Celestions with an extra dose of bass. I can't believe how much bass these tens have. The bottom end is always very full, but the mids & harmonics always stay clear. This cab sounds bigger, deeper, and more refined than the Mesa Recto 2x12, which is what I was originally planning to purchase.

I've been using this cab for over two years. I depend on it constantly, and don't feel like I need a backup. It's very well built.

This is a very well designed cabinet, with incredible tone. I've been playing for over 13 years. I'm completely satisfied with it. I don't think Lexicon makes it anymore, and that's too bad. I guess you have to have a name like Mesa, Marshall, or Fender to make it in the guitar cabinet business. If i ever find another one then I will definitely buy it. I'd love to have one for the road & one in my home studio.
