So I like many people have discovered the thin "Line 6 tone"
Just doesnt come across like a tube amp.
However if you want versatility like I did it is a great amp.
I play mostly on the Soldano SLO 100 model.
My friend owns a Soldano and we have compared them and it does a very good job of modeling it. I have heard that even Mike Soldano has said they did a very good job.
However the sound will be thin and not carry like a tube amp. So there is some sacrifice when using this amp live.
I also must add it is great for recording with the direct outs!!!
So dont expect the world from this amp and you wont be disappointed. They are fairly cheap on ebay and very much worth the price.

I have had no issues with this amp at all.
I tour with it with no backup. It has been rock solid for the entire year I have had it.

I have been playin 13 years now and I wasnt sold on the modeling craze at first. When I lived in Hollywood I went to the allstar jam night at the cat club on a thursday. I saw a mountain of Flextone II HDs though. Played by Gilby Clark, Ryan Roxie, and such. I was sold.
I Bought the combo version at first as it was all I needed at the time.
When I upgraded to a half stack I went to the HD. I also got a Line 6 4x12. I eventually came to understand the thin tone everyone talked about.
There is no cure all but there are some things you can do to help it.
Get a good cab. Drop the Line 6 cab!
Turn the cab selector switch to no cab and let the speakers you bought do the work.
I bought an avatar cab with Vintage 30s and Hellatone 30s in it and it made a marked improvement.
Being ona budget at the time this amp has served its purpose. I enjoy the versatility. But it is not a replacement for a great tube amp. As cheap as they are on ebay though you cant go wrong if you are on a budget as well.

I probably got the last Flextone II HD that left the factory before they stopped making them about 2 years ago. I bought it new from GC. Anyways, wide array of tones that you could spend hours playing with, all the effects are tweakable to a certain degree but still nothing compared to good old stomp boxes. No phaser, which is a bummer. With the optional floorboard you get 4 channels on 9 banks (do the math 4 X 9) but the stupid thing is, if you want to take your rhythym tone and add some delay for a lead, you gotta enter all the setups again, which takes awhile, because theres is actaully twice as many knobs as you see on the amp because their is a hold button where u can tweak distortion, boost, delay effects, delay level, etc etc. I found this really annoying. Even with the floorboard its not easy to simply stomp delay or chorus in and out, its a big headache which as you can tell they fixed in the new series floorboards for the Vettas. Either way, I think the main attraction of this amp is the features, but they're simply not user friendly. For features id give it a 10, but since its a bitch to work them, its getting a 6. This amp is terrible live unless your a tap dancer, and like to hit 3 switches to get to your lead tone. But if, your not playing live, and you have the time, then it'd be ok. LED lights light up the front too.

The thing has built in optional noise gate, it is DEAD quiet. Now, if you're like me, and was sick of replacing tubes and wanted some reliabilty, think again. After using this amp you're gonna be running your ass back to your nearest guitar store and beg for a tube amp back. this amp DOES NOT CUT THROUGH THE MIX, no matter what you do. This is one of those amps that sitting right beside it, playing in your bedroom, you will think you found the holy grail of tone. Bring the rest of the band in, and your lost, especially if your other guitarist is playing tube. For this reason alone, this amp is useless. It's great for recording, bad for band practice and live. Put it on the second modern gain and BY YOURSELF, it sounds amazing, but that's not what guitar amps are all about. If you can't cut through, you may as well not have an amp. STICK WITH TUBE, IM GOING BACK AS SOON AS SOME MORON BUYS THIS AMP FROM ME. oh yeah, it's light as a feather too, but that doesnt matter cause this amp should never leave the studio anyways.

What a piece of SH*T!!!! perhaps some of my bias based on the reliability has leaked to other sections but crikes. This amp is like a retard. It made this stuttering sound, where it would cut in and cut out. This happened after 4 MONTHS of purchasing it new. Took it to the repair guys, it took them almost a year to fix and they replaced every component of the amp. They hated my amp almost as much as I do. They said and i quote "Line 6's are a bitch".sometimes the footswitch stopped working too. I hate this amp, and i'd throw it off a rood if it wasnt worth 300$ or so. a year later, the amp continued to do the same problem.

Great guys at Line 6, i needed a part for my floorboard and they sent it out right away, for free. That's my only experience with them but their website has a great FAQ section that solves most of your problems, otherwise CALL THEM, dont email.

Doesnt cut through the mix. Period. Great tone for recording, but you dont need a 600$ head to do that, so screw this thing.
