Feature wise this amp is more than adequate. It could have a bit more editing capabilities onboard, but it does suffice.Load the software onto your computer and begin the deep edit process....that's where the magic is.No it's not perfect, but really, what amp is? Especially for what these offer out of the box.Alot of power, very loud and.....easier on the wallet then buying an amp and 10 effects pedals or a couple rack processors. And with the use of the Floorboard you can get up to 36 programmed channels at the flick of a button.Plus the wah and volume pedal are a truly great feature.

The sound quality is pretty good.I play at church with this amp and to me that's where these amps really shine. In this enviroment, where you're constantly changing sounds, they are practically indespensible.Because we play alot of modern contemporary worship,we cover various artists whos sounds are quite different, and once again,it's very simple to attain that sound,or tone the artist is using.I have the floorboard for it and have roughly 30 pre-sets that I switch in and out of very frequently. And every one of them sound pretty good. They are not perfect models, but for church....come on, I don't need a Marshall or Mesa, nor does it require that much volume, even though these get VERY loud.I use mine with 3 different guitars.Jackson DK2M(2 humbuckers w 5 way super switch and 2 coil tap switches),Fender Strat with noiseless pickups and an Ibanez RG 320 DX......everyone of them sounds very good, though different and that makes it somewhat unique!

So far, I've not had any problems with any of my line 6 gear.I own a Flex 2 2x12XL, a Flex 2 Plus with ext cab and have the 212S 2x12cab and every one of them has performed without flaw.No issues.I take really good care of my stuff(each amp and cab has an anvil case)so that helps maintain their reliability.Take care of 'em and they'll last a long time!

I haven't had to use any support other than to get new tones and do the deep edit thang. So I can't say much myself, but I've heard from friends who have encounteres minor glitches that service is very good.

So all in all I've been very happy with all my Line 6 amps.I've been playing guitar for nearly 40 years now and I really trust these in the enviroment I use them in(Church worship). Now, for bigger concerts(we do alot of outreach concerts)I don't use any Line 6.I have a rack with a Digitech 2101 Artist,Aphex 204 Aural exciter,2- Rane ME30 EQ's and a Mesa 2:90 2 stereo power amp run through 2 Marshall JCM 900 flat 4x12 cabs and a Johnson J-12 controller. This is where you get FAT tone and a ton of power. This rig is extremely versatile and just plain kicks @#*!.But it is WAY too much for church. This is where LIne 6 really shines.Simple, compact, easy to transport.....If this stuff got lost or stolen I would definately get another one.

Not sure what year it was made maybe 01 or 02. For what I play this amp is very potent. I play mostly classic country and swing and lots of rock-a-billy. I love the fact that I dont need an extra pedal cuz it does have the delay and a ton of other stuff. I find this thing to be very complicated. It has way more stuff than I'll ever use and some of it sucks to my ears, but then I'm 67. I got lucky and found it in a Pawn shop along with the matching extension cabinet. It looked brand new. Power wise its unbelievabely loud without the extension speaker. Wish I could find the pedal that goes with it.

This is where I struggled. In the beggining I thought it sounded kinda crappy. But I played it for a few weeks and it got way better which leads to me suspect the speaker needed breaking in. I have heard this before about speakers needing to be worked. Anyway I play a Mexican Strat and a Mexican Tele and they sound pretty damn good. I have an American Strat but usually use my Mexicans cuz one of my bass players thinks the Strat sounds like Vince Gills guitar. Anyway its very sweet sounding. Most of my gigs are pretty large auditoriums and nite clubs. This baby cuts em all.

I have been playing since 1957. I own a Peavey Classic 30, Peavey Duel 212, Crate vc 212, Crate 212+, Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, and an old Fender Quad Reverb,oh ya and a little Princeton Reverb, plus a bunch of bass stuff. What ever I plug into I get a good sound, I like all my stuff. Sometimes I just bring something different just for the hell of it. If this were lost or stolen I'd be a mad mother @#%$^&. I'd probably never find a deal like this one again.

Well made amp for the price ! compare to any other 500$ (CND) used amp !
32 amp models - 16 cabinets and few effects (slightly good to slightly bad) - do you want fries with that ?!?! Maybe an air conditionner and an AM/FM 8 track to listen to some Boston or Chicago or some other band named after a city

What do you expect from a open Cabinet - Peavey sounds as shitty in that respect...
I've got a nice 1973 Special Edition Marshall cab with 4X12 inch 260 watt - the amp Sounds Great - so much bottom the windows shake

I've been playing for 25 years !
If I'd get insurance money and they gave me more than I paid - I'd buy a nice Rolland Jazz amp but that's just me - for 500$ - the only Rolland I can find has been beaten up so bad - it barely works
I love the fact that I'm done playing with my $%^&*# peavey stereo Chorus Amp (There is a god !!)
If ever I become a zillionaire - I will have a wall of amps and a wall of guitars - right now - I'm not a zillionaire so this amp works great for me and Godin Accoustic and My Godin Midi Jazz GUitars will do just fine with this amp for the moment - if not - I'll sell it for about the price I paid and will move on to another amp...

Everyone here knows it's features, so I won't go into detail. Pretty much all the bells and whistles of a 300$+ floorboard built into a combo amp. With the larger floorboard attachment, it's quite versatile.

I use a wide variety of guitars, ranging from Les Pauls to Strats to Fernandes guitar with the sustainer pickups. Like most good amplifiers, you can quite easily distinguish the tones of one type of guitar from another. As for its overall sound, it does have the sound issues (thin, undefined sound) when played through its built in speaker. HOWEVER, I hooked mine up to a 2x12 closed-back cabinet, bypassing the built in speaker, and it sounds awesome. Furthermore, by bypassing the speaker emulator, you can really tweak some great sounds out of it. I own/have used/have owned numerous fenders, marshalls and mesa's, and I can say this pretty close. Does a better job on modeling 6l6 based amps though (fender, mesa etc.).

I bought this amp cheap because the on/off switch was broken. It's broken in the "on" position, so I just unplug it. Other than that, it has worked flawlessly.

I have been playing guitar for about ten years and thus far Ive found nothing close to this amp for its versatility. I use it as my main rehearsal/gigging amp, and it does a great job. I love my Marshall, but now Ive relagated its tubes to wear and tear only in the studio.

I bought my Flextone II+ the month after Guitarist reviewed it back in 2001 (ish??) I was in the market for a Boogie at the time and had iro #1200 to spend.
Feature wise, it really has pretty much everything you'd want. I tend to use very little effects anyway - just enough to add some colouration, but nothing too OTT although the Delay is good enough for various U2 and Police covers as & when..
I'd say that the features available are about spot on. If you want more effects, you can use the loop, if you want more volume (and the "standard" 60 watts is loud, let me tell you!) you can add the extension cab for a stereo seperated (or stacked) sound with 60 watts per side - And that IS perfectly loud enough for a club gig. I've used it without the ext cab at 7000 seater auditoriums mic'd up and it was loud enough for on-stage foldback (I was about 8 feet in front/to the side of the bass player who had a 400watt trace rig. I've never had to play it with the master volume maxed out.
The amp's a solid state and was one of (if excepting I think Yamaha and Roland, if memory serves) the modelling amps that seem to be everywhere underfoot these days.

I use the Line6 with a strat with a DiMArzio PafPro in the bridge, and a Hugh Manson Tele with a DiMarzio Fred in the bridge and SH3 in the neck. The amplifier just sounds teriffic and I must be one of the luckiest guitarists on the planet 'cos I've found my ultimate sounds right here.
The style I play is mostly rock/hard rock with some metal thrown in. I also do some "quieter" stuff like jazz, blues & folk - pretty much the whole gamut, really. There's always a great tone just a few twiddles of the knobs away - perfect for the versatility I need.
The Line6 took my money over the Boogie because it was so versatile. The Boogie pretty much had only one sound (OK, 2 if you count "clean"!) and I would have had to use outboard effects which are a pain. The line6 did the Boogie sound (had to dig a little deeper to find it) near enough that the guys in Andertons thought I WAS playing the Boogie. The Floorboard is great because it gives you a decent wah and volume in one unit, together with access to the tuner, patches etc... It really "makes" the amp but is a bit steep.
Clean sounds have terrific clarity and sensitivity on certain amp models and again, this takes a bit of digging because the amp does sound different at higher volume levels, and tweaks are needed..
The OD is great - heavy enough for me although it probably doesn't have the saturation that some of the NuMet guys need.
Found the amp very quiet pretty much all the time

I've owned this amp for around 5/6 years now and to be honest it's now started to go a little flakey..
However, to put this in perspective, I have gigged it pretty much every week (sometimes twice a week) and practiced pretty much every week as well. I should have got a flightcase for it but just never seemed to get 'round to it.
Yeah, I'd say it was reliable. I came to this amp from owning a Marshall JTM45, which caught fire in one gig, and a Marshall JCM900, which also caught fire. Next to those dodge valve amps, the L6 was a breath of fresh air: Lighter, better sounding (versatility), and much much much more reliable.

I haven't dealt with L6 for specific support issues.
I'm annoyed that Flextone 2 owners have to buy another Floorboard in order to upgrade to FT3. Why for Heaven's sake? For a company that originally seemed to be pushing all the right buttons, this is a monster faux pas - I hope that the FX3 Floorboard won't be superceeded any time soon.
The whole website thang that L6 have going on is really great. I also own a Pod XT live and a variax, and the ability to get online and download patches etc.. is truly innovative.

I bought this instead of a Boogie caliber 50 because of:
a) light weight compared to Boogie
b) low price compared to Boogie
c) more versatile compared to Boogie
d) it does the Boogie sound near enough
I tried the Boogie, and then (because Guitarist had raved about the Flextone) tried the Line6 amp. Immediately had to buy it on the sounds alone. Don't confuse this with the Spider, which is fizzy as hell by comparison. The Flextone series is the real deal.
Sadly, mine must now go due to a hard life. I don't know what I'm going to replace it with though...

I play thru a Epiphone Les Paul (Standard, Drop D tuning) and a Schecter C-1 Elite (C and dropped B tuning). Mainly play heavy music but I have my moments when I want to play Jazz, blues, and old rock.
At first, I wasn't impressed with this piece of equipment. The amp only sounded good played at low volumes (below 2), and tended to get high pitched and loose sounding when turned up. Clean sounds weren't bad, and definately leave alot of room for experimenting. The effects are pretty nice, tap tempo on the delays has a surprisingly lengthy delay timing. Chorus is pretty believable, don't use much tremolo, flanger isn't the best but will get the job done. This amps saving grace came on a whim of mine. I decided to place a Tube PreAmp (PreSonus TubePre) infront of the amp to make it dig in a bit more. Made a world of difference. I then proceeded to connect a closed back 2x12 Madison cab to the unit. Now we are talking 200% better sounds. The Lows do not leave when the volume is used, and the distortions are much less digital. May seem like a bit of trouble to go through to get a good sound, but I wanted to keep this little guy for it's pure versatility.

Overall, due to its sheer versatility in your arsenal and low cost to acquire, I'd say this amp is pretty cool. The Wah pedal on the floorboard is adjustable as well, allowing you to chnage the sound or "Q" of the wah. Many people are not aware of this. I'd liken this amp to having a few dozen pedal distortions/effects laying around. Are you going to get famous using them, No ... but if you're looking to screw around with different sounds, this could quite easily serve as a drawing board.

Most of the reviews have been all or nothing for the most part. Most people see all of the good or all of the bad but few weigh them against one another. This amp models famous amps. It is intended to be a facsimile of these amps for those who cannot afford them. Or as a compact amp for someone who does not have room for an arsenal in their jam/writing room. If your sound is the Marshall JMP sound, by all means buy it. Likewise for the Mesa Boogie, Twin Reverb, etc... But if you want a practice amp that can mimic those tones this is a neat toy. It sounds OK, not great, but it is fun to play and you can get some decent tones if you don't mind tweaking.

I have Mesa Boogies, Marshalls, and Fenders. This is my only solid state or modeling amp. I use it quite often when the wife and kids are asleep or just to practice. If something happened to it I might get another modeling amp but probably would get a Flextone III or a Vox modeling amp.

I use the Brit High gain - those who say the volume is not there have clearly not discovered the volume knob. I cranked this volume up (without the ext cab) and the go kart drivers on the track next door to my rehearsal unit stopped racing to see what was going - and they had helmets on and loud engines roaring out. I would own this just for the brit high gain alone - superb jcm 800 sound without having to cart a stack around to every gig.

This amp is versatile...it has TONS of features BUT to me only half are usuable. I use about four or five of the amp models with lots of tweaking and only use about four effects. THE WAH SOUND IS AWESOME! You have to get the floorboard witht the volume and wah if you get this so you can exploit the full capabilities of the amp.

I use a strat and a les paul copy. Played many a other guitars through it and it sounds OK. Actually most of the sounds are thin and not convincing. You have to do alot of TWEAKING. There are really only three amp sounds that sound convincing. The blackface fender twin sounds pretty DAMN good and its reverb does sound like if i bump the amp the amp will make that spring shattering noise. Anyway, it sounds good low but thins out as you increase the volume. Plus I notice that it sounds full up close but as you step away it sounds thin and sterile...some of the sounds sound generic, BUT let me tell you this. Add another cabinet and make sure its a CLOSED BACK. This REALLY REALLY REALLY helps folks. It adds so much more balls and actually in conjunction with the open back flextone combo it adds a nice and convincing mix/blend to the sound. Its really hard to rate sound because at low volumes it sounds good, but increasing sucks. BUt with a extension cab (dont get the flextone ext. cab cuz its open back and really it sounds like a louder sterile thin kinda excrement) Oh yea, speakers will help beef up the tone. The stock are kinda weak.
ALSO, almost forgot, some of the clean sounds are very nice, like the blackface fender BUT one thing i noticed and HATE, is when you attack the guitar HARD the much less definition and sterile the sound has, so I have to really pay attention to my attack which is good training to have CONTROL folks and DYNAMICS and TECHINIQUE...and in doing that the sound is really nice.

Ok, this sucker is built pretty cheaply. It hasnt crapped out on me yet, but the input jack is plastic and very weakly supported. SO BE CAREFUL, you can barely trip over your cord like my friend did in our crowded warehouse, and have the jack snap out. Its not saudered in but its connected to a circuit board which can really screw up your day. There is also some vibrational noise on the amp when you play loud.

GREAT amp if you dont want to mess with tubes and pedals and all the headaches, but yet this amp CAN become a headache. The wah once again is really nice, but ya need the floorboard. I love all music, including country and death metal...YEE HAW! But I'm thinking of selling this sucker and going tube CUZ THERES NOTHING LIKE THE REAL THING BABY! Still a very nice amp and I get complimented on my tone (partly cuz of tweaking and the closed single cab which is a Peavey 112sx)

OK, I wrote a review earlier, and this is an update. I still like this amp for the variation that it brings to the table, but it doesn't have the projection of a "real" amp, and some of the models are too "hair band" styled. The Fender Blackface is very nice sounding, and I can get a nice blues sound with some light breakup. I also like the JC120 sounds. I have found a few Marshall sets that sound OK, but it's hard to EQ the "hair" out of them.
One more thing that is definitely frustrating. You definitely need to run this thing into a computer to take advantage of any of it's limited potential. And you need to EQ this thing in a large room, because if you do it in your bedroom, you will be unpleasantly surprised at your gig.
If you have an old laptop computer it is ideal for taking it to a gig early, and set your EQ's with the software. You don't need a super computer to run this software.
If you've made an investment in this thing, try some of these steps to try and minimize your frustrations. If you are tired of tube amps eating up your cash, and thought this was a viable option, I would recommend playing a Tech 21 Trademark amp first. I don't hate Line 6, they just don't quite give you what they promise.
