My Spider was made in 1999. It has a great clean tone and when on Insane or Recto, it really gives you that sound you need to play anything. It has 4 channels w/out the extension board and it has a headphone jack. The only thing I wish is if it would allow me to completely customize my sound. I use this amp for practice and small gigs and it works great!

I am using a 1999 SG Standard with the 490 pickups. This is a great amp for the overall guitarist. The thing I like best about this is that chorus, reverb, all that stuff, still makes the same differencewhen II have the volume on 10 as compared to 2 or 3. The distortion can stand up to the best on any amp alive.

I would use this guitar at a gig w/out a backup, but then again I haven't had this amp more than 2 months.

I have been playing for 6 years and this is the most versatile and best amp for it's size that I've ever played...it even can rub elbows with some of the best effects pedals. The only thing I add to it is my Vox Wah-Wah. If this were lost, I'd buy another one in a heart beat. Not much I hate, except that I don't have the channel footswitch so it kind of sucks.

I play mostly psych-rock, jazz, metal, really, anything but country. Of the 6 amp models, I've found a use for every single one. I do wish there were more than 4 channels (you can get 12 if you have the floorboard. I don't). I like the fact that its stereo. The headphone jack is a plus because I live in a small apartment with a wife. Any married people can instantly know the value of that. It also cuts back on negative critisism (also due to the wife). I do wish that all the knobs were motorized. Its kind of hard to tweak just right when you call up a setting and can't see where your settings are exactly. It would be much better to have the floorboard. Its an extra $240, but worth it. It gives you 12 channels plus wah and volume pedals. Overall, I love the features of this little amp for the price. Well worth it.

So far, I've had no problems what-so-ever with it(knock on wood). I would gig without a backup...maybe. Ask me in a year.

I've been playing guitar for about 12 years and this is one of the overall coolest little pieces of gear I've owned. The Line6 amp modeling is excellent! I would buy another one in a heartbeat if it got stolen(unless I had the money to buy an AXSYS 212). I do love this little amp.

Just bought the amp about a week ago. Previous reviews state the features so I won't go into it again. I bought this amp based on the fact that it has all of these features built into it. It has plenty of features to keep you entertained but not too many to confuse. There is nothing worse than playing with someone who screws around with knobs and stuff while your trying to play. I like the headphone jack as I can wail away and not disturb anyone. I havent had enuf time to play it as I just got the floor pedal for it (200 bills). The price may be steep but its is definitly worth it. It allows you to store more sounds(12),turn on/off reverb, effects, distortion, has a decent tuner, and a tap switch to adjust delay/echo. Throw in a wah and volumn pedal and you got one of the best floor units around. The jury is still out on the power (50 watts) as I havent had the opportunity to really lay into it, but it seems adequate. I wish it had a speaker out jack so you could hook up a remote speaker. Otherwise I'd give it a higher score.

This was the difficult part. I use 3 different telecasters when I play, and they are all different as far as pups are concerned. It took a long time of playing, adjusting knobs(ugh), tweeking the EQ etc., but I was able to program all 12 slots with usable sounds and effects with all 3 guitars. I play rhythm in my band and I need the diversity that the amp offers with minimal hassle. This is where the amp really shines. On the negative side, the bass seems to be overbearing on most guitar settings past the 2 oclock setting, and depending on the amp setting can be downright muddy. I was able to get a more usable sound out of it by setting it before the 12 oclock position. The drive feature sounds great on most amp settings but also gets muddy past the 3 oclock positon. Adjusting the EQ helps. While the amp has many useful sounds, from the clean to the overdrive (except the insane setting), it does lack the "warmth" of my Fender blues deluxe. Back to the insane channel. The name fits it perfectly. I don't know if i could ever weave it into my personal style.

Tough question. The amp seems well put together but light. Gigging without a backup is gambling to say the least. I treat my gear as I would an infant so I should be ok.

All things considered, I think this is a great amp and a wonderful product, especially for the money. I am teetering between this model and the flextone right now and I'm not sure which way I will go yet(got 30 days to decide). I like the amp for its versatility and convenience, but it doesnt have the fuzzy, warm sound of the tube amp.

The amp was manufactured in 1999. Versatility is where this amp shines. It has four channels that come loaded with factory presets. You can also over-ride the existing channels with your own presets. It has a headphone jack. It doesn't have an effects loop. The amp has 2 - 10" speakers and it's rated at 50 watts. I'm not sure what you'd classify this amp as? It's not a tube amp but Line 6 refers to it as "TubeTone" digital modeling. The amp models it comes with are; Clean, Twang, Blues, Crunch, Recto and Insane. It has two control knobs for effects. The first knob controls flange, chorus or tremolo (note: no two effects from the same knob can be used togethor). Knob two selects one of 3 delays, from; digital delay, tape echo and ping pong. It also has a seperate reverb knob. It has a Presence Boost, Volume Boost, Drive Boost and a built in Noise Gate.

I play a Jackson Dinky it has a s-s-h pickup configuration. The amp suits my music style very well. I dig metal and the two "dirty" models this thing has sounds really nice. I can get some really nice tones out of the Clean model too. The Blues model is ok but I think the Twang and Crunch models are total crap. In the single coil pickup setting it's noisy but that could be the pickups. I can use the clean model at very high volumes without any distortion and if distortion is your thing? You have to hear the Recto and Insane model. Recto is modeled after a Boogie Dual Rectifier and the Insane model gives you even more gain. For what it's worth though, the 50 watts this amp has are on the quiet side. If it were a little louder I would of given it a higher score.

The amp does seem to be a little on the fragile side. It would be nice if the knobs were metal, it would also be nice if the knobs were stiffer. They seem to turn too easily.

I haven't dealt with Line 6, but my brother has. He had a problem with his AX2 and they really took care of him. The warranty is 1 year and I'm pretty sure it's transferable.

I've been playin off and on for nine years. I would definately buy another one if it were stolen. I really like this amps versatility, the on-board effects are a really nice touch. I only had around $400.00 to spend on and this thing fit the bill. The $420 I spent included shipping. In that price range there isn't another amp that comes close. I was also looking at a Crate GFX-212, but for the couple of extra dollars this thing sounded better.
There is one thing that really bugs me. It should of come with a channel switching foot pedal. Line 6 expects you to shell out another $60-70 for their pedal or really splurge and spend over $200.00 for their all in wonder Floor Board. That really sucks... again, they should of included a cheapo channel switching pedal. If it was 100 watts and included a pedal I would of given it a 10.
