This amp suits all my metal needs. This thing came level with the drummer at about 3.5! 4 channels, but you really do need the FB4 footswich for live work. I wish it had a FX loop just to make it perfect. This thing will blow your windows out at 5 volume. Chorus is great and flange is good but it isnt very prominent on clean.

You need a good guitar to run this through coz if you have bad pickups it's gonna blow your ears up from the highness of the pitch. I use a maverick F3 with duncan pickups. This suits any style of metal. And any other style out there if you tweak it enough. This thing is noisier than a super volcano! The variety is endless. Clean doesnt distort at all. And i cannot describe the saturation distortin this has. I aint never played a tube amp but i cant imagine anything more distorted than this baby.

I bought the amp not to long about, probably 3 months ago. It has a few differnt distotion chanelles which are supposed to represent other amp sounds. they dont at all. I dont like any of the distortions except the Insane setting but that setting is great. The tape echo is fun for when your sitting around home boring, but becomes a pain in the ass to shut off at times. Im not into using effects really..so I never use them and wont leave a comment on that.

I play in a punk band, and use a Stratocaster (doublefatstrat) but i replaced the pickups with 2 emgs, yeah almost unheard of, but its awesome. anyways...the only way to get good distortion out of it is to use the insane. well for me..i guess i play punk but like a metal sounding disotion with great highs, i have a really bitch of a time hitting harmonics that sound clean with it..but never the less i hit them and they hurt, haha. Well i bought a box for the amp that brings in the sound threw the openback and shoots it out the bottom, and it just boosts the volume. Leaving no problmems at all for sound

I havnt had any problems yet, except when i had it on one of those gay amp stands that dont work for shit and it came close to falling a couple times ...but i ran to the resuce (never seen a fat guy run that fast) but im asuming its veryy dependable

Ive been playin for about 6 years, my other amp is a randall, which sucks..the only good sound i have gotten out of it was with my metalzone.
I love the amps disotion..i really never use the clean tones, except when i play in my colleges jazz band..which i normally dont even use my amp..but it still sounded good for that.

This amp is the 2002 model, i bought it back in July, and it is now October. It comes with quite a few features and cool effects, but its too limited and simplified. The effects are barely editable, and it only has four channels. I was really disapointed to find that there was no effects loop or output, just the headphone jack. When i bought it, i had just assumed that such an advanced, and moderately expensive amp/tube sim. would have those things, and so when i checked it out at home, i discovered there was no loop or output. I enjoy the double speakers (2x12") especially for the ping pong delay which sounds really nice on this amp. Although the effects are not editable, it is still line 6 effects, and those are always nice no matter what. Also, the speakers are aligned separately (staggered) which is nice.

I use a Fender standard Mexi strat with single pickups on it... the amp's distortion overall really projects any intereference picked up from the guitar, but when i use my boss pedal with it (and a clean no effect channel on the amp) it doesnt pick up as much useless noise. When using my MetalZone Boss pedal with it, i can get some pretty call sounds. This amp is capable of a LOT of bass, which is nice, but sometimes brutal. The treble sometimes can be ear piercing, thats how high it can go. Overall, i think the factory channel settings and amp mods. suck, but if you tweak with it yourself, you can get some pretty gnarly sound, especially when using a Boss Metal zone pedal. (just a tip for any amp when using a pedal) --> dont set the pedal to total metallica full treble and bass but no mid settings because that gets too piercing, and cannot be heard over drums as easily, unless turned up extremely loud, which then calls for extreme feedback. Anyway, the one factory model i like on this amp is the clean channel, which uses the nicely set up chorus, and any clean channel (with effects or not) does not get distorted at high volumes on this amp. Which is REALLY nice.... you know you're not gonna damage the speakers as easily as you would like to.

Never had to deal with them yet. But I never registered my amp, and there were like 5 or 6 papers telling me to register so that i can have the warranty or so they can fix my amp easily. But i forgot to register in time (which was an insanely short amout of time... at least in my head) so i can imagine the day my amp breaks, i'm gonna get screwed over and come back to this site and put '1' for this particular section. But as of now, i have no problems with them.

I've been playing guitar for almost 3 years now, and am in a band (So Random http://www.angelfire.com/punk3/sorandom/ ) in the Littleton, CO area. I enjoy this amp a lot, and it is definetly one of the best 100W combo amps i have played with. I used to use a Crate 2x12" (or 10" maybe) amp which was horrible. 2 channels, and the sound was horrible, the clean was practically distorted, and the effects blew... so this is a major step up from that. I also own a Fender 25w Frontman with reverb, and that thing is only fun for its insane crunchy sound, but it isnt loud enough. Anyway, my point is that this amp is pretty sweet considering its price, size, and simplisticness. And the effects (although not editable) are very sweet... you can't go wrong with Line 6 effects. I would probably buy this amp again if it were stolen, however if i had enough money, i would go with the the next model up (forgot the name), which has editable effects, and more effects. I chose this amp over a Marshall tube amp, forgot which one, somewhere around the 70-100W range... i just dont like the marshall as much for the music i play. However, if i enjoyed metal a lot, and metallica settings, i would've gone with the marshall and used my Boss pedal with that, along with an EQ. My friend has that same setup which sounds sweet for metal... so if you want a good pure metal-head metallica sound, i would go with a marshall over the line 6. But if you're looking for variety, or reliability, go with the Line 6.

I use a Deluxe Fat Strat with Floyd Rose Tremolo, which has proven so far to be an awesome guitar. It suits my style of music, cause I play anything rock, from Creed to Staind to anything... When I cut up the volume really loud on insane, I get a little more feedback than I like, but overall, it's pretty cool. I am also a vocalist, so I hooked a mic up to it to see what it would sound like, and it's actually pretty awesome [until I turn the volume up past 9 o clock, then it usually gives me a really annoying squeaky sound.] So far, the sound has proved to be awesome.

This amp was the best amp I had ever played when I first played it but that was after playing guitar for only a year... maybe even a little less. It's a good amp but it doesn't have the nice warm tone that my marshall does... and the clean channel pretty much sucks.... the optional floor pedal is nice but overpriced...

I called Line-6 repair about the setting hum. They told me it was natural but I think mine is excessive - excessive enough that I don't use the two (out of 6) settings. My warranty is ready to expire and I will know more about how they handle my warranty in the very near future.

Hi. This is just one more user review among a dozen stating that this amp is cute! I play in a rock/blues/jazz band, and it suits to all my needs. Yes, effect loop and output are missing, but hey, nothing someone experienced in electronics coulnd't do... I use this amp for small gigs as well, cause it rocks like hell. I am not so sure if stereo is that useful if the two speakers are next to each other, but it still is a funny thing to have. And as far as the field of usability engineering is concerned, I have to state that this amp is the easiest to use ever!

I use the spider with a Gibson LP Studio with 2 Humbuckers and a Fender strat with Single Coils. Clean sound is brilliant, and I totally disagree with the statement that it cuts away upper frequencies above 10kHz. The variety is enough, and anyways I love to adjust my sound myself. Compared to other Transistorstuff or effects one has a great influence on that. The distortion is kind of blowin' you away.

I guess I can only state that after 2 up to 5 years to go, becuase that is the least bit of time I expect an ampto last without trouble.

I am playing electric guitar since 3 years, but I also play many other fretted instruments. I would buy the amp again, becuase of its high usability. There is actually nothing that I hate with the amp, besides that the floorboards seem a little bit overprized to me (but I got my FB4 plus an amp-cover for free in a summer-special). One thing that I love is that the floorboard is connected with a telephone wire. So if it should ever fail it is a simply replaceable standard cable. This is important since I often jump around while playing... And it's a plug and play amp. No more other distortion or whatsoever else pedals...

Sounds are beautiful. Oh my i love it, ive had it for a year now and i still love it. Its not noisy at ALL. Anyone who says it is is either playing right in front of the damn thing or is shootin up heroin. I plug effects into it and its fine. You can get lots of really good tones from in from the built in effects. I HATE FACTORY PRESETS. Program ure own thats all i gots to say, for anythin. umm lets see u can pump this baby up as loud as u want and it wont get distorted. Bottom line... THIS THING KICKS THE CRAP OUTA TUBE AMPS ANYDAY. FUCK TUBE AMPS! this thing is much quieter and less fragile. Get this dont get a fuckin overpriced Marshall.

I bought a 2002 model just a few weeks ago which has proved to be a great investment. I play mainly punk, rock, and classic and it covers those styles with ease. I'll use it on stage during performances and practicing with the group in the garage. Setting the volume at 6 enables enough sound to use in performances.

I play a 1982 Gibson Les Paul Standard with 490R and 498R alnico humbuckers. Sounds great, except im getting a little feedback on all the settings. It was a floor model and I am taking it in tommorow to switch it for a new in the box amp. The distortion is amazing. The best I have ever heard. When I heard it for the first time I knew I had to have this amp and happy I bought it. CANNOT MENTION THE DISTORTION THIS HAS. FORGET TUBE AMPS THIS IS THE ONE.
