This amp is packed full of features, there are 12 amp modules that mimick amps from the likes of Fender, Marshall, Mesa etc. etc. Also there are loads of built in effects: Flanger/Chorus; Phaser; Tremelo; Delay; Tape Echo; Sweep Echo and of course... Reverb!
There are 4 fully programmable channels, which are switchable via a range of available footswitches (the switching is very quick).
When you combine the tonal abilities of the guitar and the Spider, anything is possible.

What I like most about this amp is even on the 'Insane' setting (Drive/Gain/Drive x45) when not playing there is very little 'buzz'.
I mainly use the Clean, Metal and Insane settings, these are extremely versatile. The Insane 2 distortion is so smooth, deep and sustains for ever... and some more.
There are a couple of amp modules that I know I'll never use, partcularly 'Insane 1', some kind of octaver high gain rubbish. It sounds pants, but could fit somewhere.

I take extreme care with my amps, I haven't had any problems at all. The build quality seems excellent, and the amp is extremely heavy which is a good sign.
I haven't had this amp for particualry long (2 months), I'll give it a 10 anyway!

Made in 2003.
I play all types of music on the rock spectrum including Mudvayne, Metallica, Disturbed, Linkin Park, Ill Nino, and many others. It covers these styles perfectly whether it be the crunching sounds of Mudvayne and Ill Nino, or the scooped mids in your face pounding of Metallica, this amp does it all.
This amp has 4 programmable channels (A,B,C and D). The only thing I didn't like was that it didn't come with a footswitch, they're sold seperately. Also has a headphone jack.
I wish it had an external switch for the effects. More so like their pedal I guess. I still think it should have come with something to switch between channels, and something that prefferable doesn't cost almost as much as the amp to get an expression pedal.
I use this amp in my room in my apartment. Has MORE than enough power for me.

I use a Morgan Monroe SHS-TMP with this amp, with EMG's (81 and 85) installed. It suits my style of playing perfectly. It doesn't get noisy thanks to the noise gate, but then again I haven't had it up past 3 lol. This amp can get anything from crystal cleans to crunching metal.

I'd use it in a gig without backup seeing as its all I have lol. So far the amp is fine. Had it about a week or so. We'll see as time goes on.

Been playing about 3 years now. Own a crappy cheap little acoustic. If it were lost or stolen, of course I'd wonder how the hell it got lost, but stolen I'd be pretty angry. If it were stolen, I'd replace it, or just wait and nab a Dual Rectifier.

This is the brand new Spider II series, 120 watts, two 10" Celestion speakers. 12 amp models (6 categories, 2 choices in each). 7 effects plus reverb, front panel tuner, and headphone/direct out.
I am a keyboard player in an eight pc. horn band that plays every weekend, we do clubs, private gigs, and shows. I started my career on guitar many years ago, then switched to organ as a teenager, and let the guitar slide for many years. Recently I started practicing guitar once again in order the give lessons to my wife. I decided (after talking to my bandmates) that we could use a second guitar on some songs that we play.
I have a full keyboard setup...so I wanted something simple that would give me the needed sounds to play backup and rhythm...a "clean" sound, something for funk, something for rock, etc. What I did not want was a floor full of pedals like my guitar player has. This led me to modeling amps.
My first attempt was with the Behringer V-ampire amp, 50 watts, 12" speaker, and tons of sounds and effects. It sounded great at home...but not enough power to cut it on a gig. My local music store (Daddy's Junky Music) took the Behringer back and let me swap it for the new Spider II that they had just recieved a few days prior.
It was easy to figure out, and sounded great at home. I was a little leary...I had read many reviews on this website about the original Spider series. I had little trouble finding and tweaking the sounds I needed. The amp has 4 user-writable channels (we keyboard guys call them presets) so I stored the 4 basic sounds that I wanted.
It doesn't have a line out or a built in DI, so I'm using a Shure SM57 to mic the cabinet. I play a G&L Fullerton guitar, and sometimes
G&L ASAT classic, both with the single coil pickups.
My first couple of gigs went very well...this amp has plenty of power, and it sounds great. Line 6 changed the front panel color from red to grey, I think it looks much more appropriate for the type of gigs I play. I tweaked the sounds as needed under "real world" conditions and saved them to my presets.

In my opinion, when all things are considered, this amp does everything I hoped. The clean channel is crystal clear. There are enough distortions the get the sound I am looking for. It does get noisy when the master volume is up about 3/4 full, but even with my rather loud band I never needed to push it past 1/2 way. There is a built in noise gate that you can save with your presets, so that corrects that problem. I have the effects I want, with no effects pedal board on the floor in my way. I can tune the guitar on the fly...the tuner mutes the speakers. The preset volumes get saved along with everything else so I can swap sounds quickly and not even have to turn around and touch the amp (by using the FBV4 pedal).
I've read other reviews that complained about the limited adjustment of each effect. I don't see that as too much of a factor. In reality, I'm talking about a good sounding amp, with effects and tuner built in, simple to operate, for less money than my guitar player has spent on the pedals he has on the floor in front of him.
He plays thru a Mesa Dual Rectifier....and it does sound better, no question...however, the amp alone went for $900 more than I paid for the Spider! I've seen reviews that compare this to that...but with apples to apples, I am quite satisfied with this purchase.
We play all styles of music, 60's to current....I have no problem finding a sound and effect that fits whatever style we choose.
A few of the sounds are unusable..mainly the "insane" setting, but possibly someone else could use them playing a different type of music.
I spent extra and bought the FBV4 pedal, I wish that I could acess the tuner with the pedal, but all I can do is pick a preset and adjust tap tempo. The FBV2 would be just as well for less money in my situation.

I've been in bands for 35 years..since I was 15. I own all top grade PA and keyboard stuff, the price was not a prime factor in this purchase, the features are what attracted me. So far it has worked exactly as I hoped, I would buy another one if this one disappeard. I wish they had included the simpler FBV2 pedal, or at least let the FBV4 call up the tuner, but all in all I am satisfied.
I will probably buy the Spider II 112 model for prctice at home when Daddy's get them in from the supplier....that's how much I like this amp.
