Awesome presets. If you don't like one of the zillion presets, you can make your own. The only thing that I would add to this amp are some 1/4 jacks on the back for pluging in a drum machine, a midi in and out plug. Otherwise, the features on this amp will stand up the more pricier ones.

Sound Quality : 10
What can I say ... I love this amp. The sounds are absolutely fantastic. Sort of like the Willie Wonka movie... you know.. the blueberrys taste more bluesberrily, the snozzberries taste more snozzberrily... The amp differenly has a bigger than life sound that is pure rapture to listen to.

Reliability : 10
Haven't had the amp that long, but one of the reasons that I bought the amp is that Line 6 has a solid history of reliability and costumer service.

Customer Support : No Opinion
From what I've heard is that customer service is sort of like the Maytag Repairman ... just waiting for a service call. No serious dude, like I said above, Line 6 is solid.

Overall Rating : 10
Looking for a reliable and versatile amp that has tons of features and is fun to play around with... look no further. This amp rocks for the money. I tried some of the more pricier ones.. and this amp shut them down. Hey, don't take my word... grab your axe head into one of the stores that carry it.. and give it a work out. You can do some side by side comparisons. Unless you're going to get a new axe, the only way to really get a "sound sense" is to use your tool.

Features : 9
Bought new, 2007. Fully-featured; see web for details. I use this amp for casual jamming with friends and home recording. VERY solid state.

Sound Quality : 4
This amp is an amp-emulator/modelling amp with something like 250+ presets from artists and songs, plus a variety of basic amp emulators ranging from clean to over-the-top heavy distortion.

Bottom line: Although this amp can make a wide variety of sounds, very few of them are good and I can't get a great tone out of this at any setting. This is a classic tube versus solid state issue, and for me, ALL OF THE SOUNDS have a heavy solid-state "electronica" brittleness that strikes the ear as a mere imitation of real guitar tone. As a result, it comes off as just a toy. Not a real amp.

Don't get me wrong -- I'm not a total tube-snob. I've been using the Line 6 Pod with good results for several years, both live and in direct recording, and my 100W solid-state Ibanez GX-100, despite the fact that it's old and battered, is a completely decent amp. But this Spider III is way too electronic-sounding, and is in fact far worse-sounding than my Ibanez. It's like Line 6 went so far down the solid-state emulation road that they lost the benefits, however debateable, of a decent solid-state amp while at the same time failing to capture in any satisfying way the tone you typically get from tube amps. The result is, I'm sorry to say, a near-total waste of money, at least for me.

Reliability : No Opinion
I am returning this amp after trying in vain to coax good sounds out of it, so I haven't given it a good road test for reliability. Line 6 products are generally reliable, in my opinion, and my Pod works like a trooper despite some rough treatment.

Customer Support : 5
Unlike the Pod, the Spider manual is fairly cursory. I've never had problems with Line 6 products, so haven't had the joy of interacting with their customer service folks.

Overall Rating : 4
I've been playing for about nine years and I have an American-made Fender hard-tail strat and a Washburn. I've owned a Fender HRD and the Ibanez GX-100, and routinely use the Line 6 Pod live (through the Ibanez) and in direct recording.

Basically, I have no use for this amp (the Spider) because it sounds worse than the Pod both live and direct, so it makes no sense to own both. If it were stolen, I would NOT replace it.

Comco with 12 Amp models, covering the entire range of music styles - what else do you need?
Build-in effects - the subset you really need and easy to control.
36 User presets, build-in Tuner, 400 Presets to give you inspiration.
A.I.R. Outlet for headphones, PA, recording, 2x10" Celestion speakers, CD/mp3 in and a plug to connect a foot controller.

Excelent!
You will never need more! Everything else if for waisting time!

Sound Quality : 8
Yepp - this amp is NOT a tube amp and does not provide the sensivity and
dynamics of a real tube amp.
But anyway - do not compare apples with pears!
This amp sounds GREAT!
The Marshall models are great, also the Vox AC 30, Hiwatt 100, Tweed and Metal models.
But the Fender model does not provide the punch you expect.
The effects are ok - they offer what you really need.
Only the combination distortion model with modulation effect sounds not that good - it looses definition and clearness.
Delay effects are very well.

Reliability : No Opinion
Can't give a statement - amp is fine during the first couple of weeks.

I love this amp and it is worth the (even low!) price!
It provides the most popular sounds and the effects you need in a single, loud Combo.
Tuner, presets, CD/mp3 in for practice and A.I.R. out for PA or recording... -> perfect!

It is not a tube amp - ok.
But it makes really lots of fun!
