4 channel amp. very versatile, everything from super clean to super distortion. great for metal, really cleans up nice, unlike some high end high gain tube amps. mp3 player input jack, line out/headphone jack. 2x4 ohm output (kinda odd). 75 watts. a bunch of effects, I only used the reverb on my clean channel, so i cant tell you much about them. the manual says it all. some extra hidden features, including a noise gate. i used it at home in my room. i dont play out, so i dont need anything with tons of power. about 35 watts through one 4 ohm output into an 8 ohm 4x12 avatar cab with eminence legends rated at 480 watts (overkill, yes but i got the cab used at guitar center for 100 bux). plenty of power for me. more features than i will ever use means line 6 gets a 10 here.

i play this thing with an ibanez sz720 with duncan dave mustaine active pickups. i play metal and this thing really does a great job at covering a wide variety of metal sounds. it is absolutely silent. crank it as much as you want and you will not get any excess buzz.

clean channel-great clean sound. no breakup, which is how i like my clean(thats what the crunch channel is for anyways). Put some reverb on it and you are good to go.

Crunch channel-great light distortion sound. anything from blues to ac/dc type sounds.

Metal channel-this was my favorite channel on the amp. very nice smooth high gain sound. great for most metal, not really a good death metal sound here though. great for some killswitch and all that remains stuff.

insane channel-death metal all the way. cover everything from death to cannibal corpse type sounds.

I mostly used the metal channel. i used the clean quite a bit too. didnt use the crunch or insane channels that much. insane has more distortion that i like and i really just used the crunch when my girlfriend yelled at me for using too much distortion. also, be sure you pickup the fbv express at the same time. it will make playing this amp so much more fun. really great sound for a modeling amp.

Reliability : 10
had it for only 6 months before i sold it. never had any problems. sold it to pay for school. wish i didnt have to. i would gig with it without a backup.

line 6 is great. i have had a few emails answered pretty quickly from them. having the manuals on the website is fantastic, especially if you get one of these for free off craigslist.

been playing over 10 years. i have a serious case of GAS, so i am always going through equipment. right now, im playing through my ibanez, a samson servo-150 power amp, and into my avatar cab. i also have a hand built (by me) 7 string guitar with a single duncan invader as the bridge pickup. if i could, i would probably buy another one, unless i had the money for a peavey jsx or an engl savage, but other than those, my gear wont stay with me for more than a year or 2 before i get rid of it for some reason. i love the sounds on it. 4 channels is great. should come with a damn footswitch, rather than costing an additional 100 bux. i didnt compare it with anything, saw it for free on craigslist, called, picked it up. definitely worth the 250 retail for it, but if you look on the bay you can find it for much less. stores also sell used ones for about 100 bux. i wish the wah on the pedal was a little better, but w/e. overall, i recommend this amp to any one looking for a cheap head that can do a lot.

This is why I had to write a review. The distortion just kills. It has several settings for time based effects, and some hidden features if you read the manual or go to the website. Has noise gate (NOT noisy)a wha, and it just plain fun. I saw a band over in Michigan that the guitar player was using for a TOP 40 cover band and it sounded so good I could not believe it! Why buy a Line 6 pedal for 80 or 100 bucks when you can get a head like I did for 115 Dollars from a pawn shop? I had to go for it and I am really enjoying playing with this amp. Use Mesa recto triple channel, Mark III, .50 calibur Plus head, Laney GH50L (which is a great amp!)and Marshall SLX and JCM 2205. Guitars I play thru it are PRS Custom 24, Jackson 87 Soloist,BC Rich Mockingbird, 77 LP Standard with Zakk/EMGs, several Kramers (Nightswan, and a few mid 80's models), Gibson ES-347TD, and tried my Chandler Pink tele out on it. All fun.

Reliability : No Opinion
Had it for a few weeks, no probs. Loud and fun.

If it broke - I would pick up another.

As above - 25 or 30 guitars, almost every amp known except Engl and Krank, never had one of those but for 1600 or 2000 forget it!!! Almost bought the new EVH Fender III head, but for 1999 they can bite it. It sounded good, but it seemed like it was missing 1 DNA gene away from sounding great. Can't put my finger on it, just seemed like a souped up Fender and very "Mid-rangy" sounding. For 1300 I would buy, maybe. I put my original Big Muff Pi thru it (got it in 74 a few years old then when I was a kid)and it was cool. would I play this at a gig?..I already witnessed in person a band using it successfully and sounding very good.
