Using a Squier Hot Rails Strat and an Ibanez JS100, both guitars sound great through this amp. I can get any tone I want.

Just got it a couple of days ago, but Line 6 has a good reputation so I'm not too worried.

I've been playing off and on for about 30 years or so. Used to be in a cover band, but now I just like to sit in my rec room and jam along with all the songs in this amp. It provides endless hours of entertainment and fun.

I won't spend too much time on this review, since the previous review (musikmesse)was an excellent and thorough one. I'll add that this amp allows you to record and listen to your playing. The amp is also very powerful. It also has is perfect for the new student, such as myself. It's motivational...

The Spider is a good sounding piece of equiptment. You can't go wrong with it. I use it with the Eppiphone Les Paul Ultra and it's great. I played this guitar with the Fender G-Dec and it never sounded as good as the Spider.

It's well built and seems very sturdy and I purchased it to last me awhile. It's appears to be able to go the distance.

Based on my research, this the best modeling amp out there. I recently purchased it after purchaing a very dissapointing Fender G-Dec. The G-Dec is no match for the Spider Jam. Fender made a big blunder...

This amp is made in China, but considering what you get for the price, that is probably the only place they could make it and still give you such fantastic value for the money. Versatile in all styles, this modeling amp is just outstanding. SOO glad I didn't buy the Fender G-DEC, despite the lack of Midi.
I have been trying to learn - again - and was using an older Yamaha PS550 keyboard for accom. I wish the Spider had Midi so I could hook them together, but the Yamaha is so dated, (late 80's, I think), that the Spider is fine as a stand alone learning tool.
I use this amp for everything now, which is mostly training. Biggest reason for buying the Spider over the Fender - sound and reliability. I had read reports of people actually taking out the speaker of their Fenders and putting in Celestion speakers, and no tweeter. Guess what? The Spider comes with a 12" Celestion and a 2" tweeter. One niggily, to make an electric acoustic (I have a Samick) sound right you have to do some setting changes on more than a few of the models. Hollowbody electrics sound better, (Have the Gretsch Electromatic), and solid body electric slide right in. (I have a Yamaha Pacifica)
Between this amp and the Fender, feature wise, it depends on your needs. Band members trying to midi their way into a whole gig, maybe buy the Fender. Training amp, stand alone amp, gigging with a friend and need a band? Buy the Spider.

There is some hum, but my Gretsch makes all my amps hum. Distortion is fine. This amp is LOUD, as is most Spiders. Master volume is not linear, it kind of stays sleepy and then around ten o'clock, just takes off. Is conquerable, but you have to remember. One great feature for sound is the ability to drive another box or your stereo system, I have a surround sound, can't wait to try that.
You can set this thing up so that it will give you a full band plus your instrument and not tear down your house or relatives, and still be without headphones, although if you insist it will rattle the rafters. Sound stays pretty stable all the way through the band, but Spider distortion has always been a bit much for me,and Insane on this amp seems to be lots more than my other Spider.
I have been listening to sounds on this thing for a while, and still have not found them all. Literally hundreds... My shop owner says that it is the hottest amp he has sold in 25 years of owning a store. Can't keep them on the shelf. I got his last one again, waiting for another shipment.
But distortion is there, if you want it. The Clean setting is so crisp and clean, it is digital...No tube qualties here unless you carefully dial in some creaminess.

I intend to have this for years. I did buy this through a retailer who matched the internet pricing, but I suffered the extra tax. For my money, having his warranty guy right there is worth the extra money, lose the hassle of not having to pack it back up, messing with customer service over the phone, trying to get a return authorization. Having worked for an electronics giant, usually if these things break they go in the first 30 days or so. But I wanted to be safe. So far, no complaints. Knobs seem solid, buttons seem tough with their vinyl coverings, but I wouldn't spill a beer on it.
Dealer did say that a couple have come through with speaker wires unhooked, no big deal, but that is really an open thing, easy to see, they probably vibrated off in shipment. If so, they may vibrate off with use. Other than that, great!

Bought it at a store to avoid the hassle of returns.
Have not used online for upgrades yet, want to look into that, Line 6 claims to have customer input on this amp - I want to see if I can get firmware upgrades, the card slot is available in the back, the book mentions it, seems like an easy to get more riffs and sounds. By the way, the book liiks daunting, but it is in multiple languages, your version will only be 20 pages or so, and it is all in easy to follow line format. Book is GOOD.

This is the fourth time in my life I've decided to learn to play. and this time, with this amp, I ENJOY practicing. I ENJOY doing scales to a rythmn track. My learning curve is better, this amp forces you to do more difficult things to keep up, AND, you can have an instructor plug into the amp with you for additional help. If you buy one amp for home or lessons, this should be it. I've read of guys who gig with this, but I don't know. Still for under $500? Give me a break, this thing is out of this world.
