This Maggie overbrand is seldom seen , an Orpheus 708 , marketed by a Coast Wholesale Music Co . The cabinet has the late '50 s front upward rake , but no 45 degree notch in the upper back to house the control surface of the chassis . The chassis has a 90 degree bend for the control face , the input jacks , fuse , pilot light , sw. / tone & vol. pot shafts are vertical . The 8'' Permoflux speaker is framed in a trapezoid shaped grille 9" high X 13 1/4" top X 10 1/4" bottom . Sides are brown leatherette , the rest is a you gotta see it to believe it 1950s material that I've seen in another color on 50s tube steel folding chairs !

This amp has about 4 replacement caps , little hum at high output . Switch on tone is like a second volume in this circuit , you can set the volume towards 8 o clock with tone maxxed and still crank . The 108 is an under rated little amp . It can chime and it can growl .

Just when you thought you've seen all Magnatone models made , along comes an "Orpheus" to torpedo that belief .

I like Maggies , but collect the contract buyers ; Giuletti , Titano , Da Vinci , Coast Wholesale ?!! The sound is 100% Magnatone , the appearance has a wide range of grill cloth and "tolex" . This amp ain't no seat cover , it will lift you off !
