Built somewhere between 1955 and 1959, this is a basic 1 x 12, 2 x 6V6 combo perfect for blues and straight ahead rock and roll. The amp has two channels each with its own volume and a common tone control. It has 2 inputs per channel and the volume controls appear to interact with each other. This example has a non-original mid-60s Jensen C12R speaker which is probably an improvement over the stock Oxford. The only real feature is an external speaker jack which enables you gig decent sized clubs with an extension cab. Very much the same size, weight and setup as a Fender Deluxe from the same era. A very simple but cool amp!

Sound Quality : 9
With any guitar I tried (Tele, Strat, Reverend Slingshot with P90s) you get the classic 6V6 bluesy grind at "4" and above. The amp is surprisingly quiet probably due to a service that the amp had received immediately before I bought it.

It works well with pedals and a simple boost pedal pushes this amp into killer, natural overdrive at any volume. I use a Pharaoh Amps Class A Boost and an EH Holy Grail Reverb with the amp and both sound great.

If you want a blues/rock'n'roll sound, you can't go wrong - Fender Tweed Deluxe type grind at a fraction of the cost.

Reliability : 9
Very simple, any competent tech could easily maintain this amp.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Magnatone is long gone but any tech could keep this amp running another 50 years.

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing 25+ years. This amp sounds as good as any 2 x 6V6, 1 x 12 combo amp could. Great value compared to the vintage Fender Deluxes and boutique amps that people are paying $1,000+ for. If you're looking for a great, portable blues amp, this is an excellent choice.
