I play with a 68 strat and a late 50 esquire. I also tried a 68 jazz bass with it.
My amps are marshall replica plexi and metal faces 100W heads only.(build by germino and/or metroamp)
Prior to these cab I played with two 4*12 cabs loaded with scumbacks H55 + H75. So I'll make a comparaison of them.
First the scumback cab ........ it sounded great , just like you think an old 4*12 marshall cab should sound like , EXEPT when it was pushed hard (with a fuzz face) , the speakers completely loosed definition , articulation , and percussion , and mushed out. Like a greenback ... But they aren't greenbacks , they are G12H30 replica .
This is the reason I tried the marshall 1960 ahw .
And WOOOW !!!
Clean , it was like the scumbacks had a blancket over them in comparaison to the celestion G12H30 heritage ! The celestion have more trebble , more presence and are clearer and tighter.
I rediscovered my guitars !
In crunch , the marshall cabs have more texture , more crunchy (in a good way) , and pushed hard , they stay like that !
Those marshall 1960 HW cabs are IT !!!

Built like a tank , but don't forget the power handling !
I use 2 of those cabs with my 100W head , like it should .

This is a reissue of a classic Marshall 4X12 cab of the days when music mattered. Mine was probably made in 2006, which is the year the first of these came out I believe. I wrote a review before, but it is missing, and I felt that it is a product worthy of comment. It is a cab. OK, but there are cabs, and there are cabs, and there are speakers, and there are speakers, and if you are thinking " Marshall half stack " it is necessary to consider from whence such terms come. It has a single input, and there is no fancy stuff. I assure you, you don't need it. The Celestion reissue G12H's are Made In England, not China, and after breaking in, they are of a quality that is worthy of a Celestion label, not like the recent Asian manufacture stuff. The construction, covering, grill cloth, and 4X G12H 30W speakers, are of the highest order, hand wired by some guy in England, who did the job right. This is where it started. Frankly, I don't think much of a lot of the Marshall label these days, but this is what it is about, and what you need to understand about the origins of the Universe of Marshall cabs.

I have put several amps, and guitars through this. It is probably the only way you'll get to hear high-end reissue G12Hs, since they are only 30Ws each. I use Gibson Les Pauls, USA Fender Tele's, Mesa, Rivera, and THD amps through this, as well as a Guytronix 1/2 Watt tube practice amp. Blues and classic rock are really where this is best, and as it defined classic / Texas / and blues based rock for some time, it will get those tones exceptionally well. Some of the higher powered stuff found elsewhere will be better suited to higher output metal, but my F-30 Mesa running in full-bore-metal-mode works great on this. It is built tough, and is road worthy, but honestly, a slant 2X12 gigging is easier to carry, and drunken moshers may not notice a difference. There are situations, where I appreciate it more than others, but it does have a modest collectors appeal, as well as the best quality 4X12 you'll want to hear or own, short of high output metal. I can only say good things about it.

I've never really been into the Marshall thing. I do love owning, and playing nice gear. This brings me pleasure on both counts. Just to go around saying I have a Marshall half stack never really appealed to me, or that I need a billion Watts of power just isn't true. But I did grow up on classic rock, and this is why people get all misty eyed when they think of Marshall cabs. It is a visual, engineering, and auditory treat. Good stuff - no - great stuff, made in England, by someone who cared what they are feeding their kids. My local dealer gave it to me at $1000, which is slightly less that online, particularly after I brought back a modern particleboard Marshall cab with bad speakers, horrible sound, cheap covering, and only a glittery gold emplem to suggest anything worthwhile about it. I had to go dig out my vinyl Hendrix again, to remind myself that there was a reason once, and then plugged into this and played all day. Castles made of sand, rise, from the sea, eventually.
