blah,blah,blah,...talking about features here would be beating us all in the head,I think we know....Or Do We?...
...for all of u guys that say these cabs have Celestion Vintage 30's...have u opened it?...check it out...they are Marshall Vintage by Celestion...similar in tone, but not quite...
I own both a Marshall 1960 AV and a Marshall 1960A modded w/ Vintage 30's,and I gotta tell ya...THEY SOUND DIFFERENT!
True Vintage 30's are searing, clarity from the heavens in comparison as the Marshall Vintage are a bit more boomy, less defined.....A/B them if u can...thats how I've come to know what I know.
Otherwise, the AV is a good sounding cab...the speakers dont say Celestion Vintage 30's though...not trying to be a punk,I just think its time these guys opened em' up.

I would have to say that the AV meets my 1960A w/ V 30's and a stock 1960 halfway...lil less boomy than the 1960A,lil more clear too
I run an ESP LTD M-307 w EMG 707's and an ESP LTD SC-607B,also w/ 707's(early model I guess),Mesa Boogie DC-10 into the V-30 cab...had the AV ran by some solid state crapper for a while...eagerly awaiting my Mesa 2:90 and Marshall JMP1 to run the AV...although the AV sounds pretty fuckin sweet w/ the DC-10

Marshall cabs have always produced the sound, and have been part of my rig for years now...I treat them roughly at times, nothing broke yet...the 1960A V-30 cab looks like hell, but still rides w/ me to every show....plastic handles suck though

Made in 2000 I believe. It has a Mono Stereo Switch with Two inputs. I removed it and Soldered in two jacks so i can do thru. You cant do it otherwise. Plastic handles.... Particle board back....

It has vintage 30's so its pretty crunchy. I play swedish metal/powermetal/hardcore/clean instrumental/jazz. Clean tones are great. It's allright for metal. Could use more bottom end. Its just an average cab. Ive tried others.. e.i. bogner framus krank orange mesa. they all sound better. Ive played it with a 5150, JCM 900, JCM 2000, Krank Revolution 1. It sounds best with the 5150. It's an ok cab. There's just a lot more out there. I wouldn't get one if i were you. Overpriced new as well. Marshall has been using PARTICLE BOARD backs, which kills a bit of the resonance.

Casters and Handles are unreliable. Ive replaced the casters. handles are horrid. They are plastic. Who puts plastic handles on a $900 dollar cabinet? Marshall does. It does hold up though, ive toured with it. The tolex is nice. It does rip occasionally but what tolex doesn't? I give it a bad score for the plastic handles and the casters

Sound's fine until you hear other cabinets. It's a decent cab. Not bad but has its flaws like the particle board back, the casters, and the plastic handles. There's just better fish in the sea. Straight cabs are better as well.

32 years, also own HiWatt DC-130's Fender and Marshall combos. Dont have to worry about these cabs being stolen...(only a MORON wouldnt see these going out the door!) Seems today, all the "Boutique" amp companies are braggin about how good they are....well, immatation is the highest form of flattery! This is REAL SIMPLE:
you want loud and raunchy.......Marshall
you want super clean............Fender, HiWatt or Orange
you want deep, dark, and muddy..Mesa
you want hype...................V.H.T. or Soldano (although both are loud as hell)
Seems ALL the classic rock hits were done with Fenders or Marshalls...( why the hell do you think everyone and their mother is trying to copy them!)

awesome sounds with my marshall heads!
& please for the love of God, if your going to talk about speakers, please know what your on about first before posting here & looking like an idiot
Yes marshall has the Celestion vintage speakers in these quads, & yes it's a fricken Vintage 30! - no it's not rated at 75w (Marshall doesn't manufacture speakers themselves you know! these cabs have the same made in England jobs you would find if you were to buy a V30 off the shelf)I know because i've checked.

I have 21 guitars running all sorts of P/U's, Gibson, fender, Seymour, Fralin, etc.
I would describe this cab as sterile and raspy. I really cam't stand the way it sounds.

I bought this cab with a Marshall JCM2000 TSL 100 over a year ago. I also bought a Soldano Slo100 with the 4x12 cab, shortly after. At first the Marshall didn't seem too bad, although I never really liked it. However, once I started playing on the Soldano, I didn't play the Marshall again, until very recently. I was actually going to get rid of the TSL 100, having had all of my boyhood dreams of owning a Marshall shattered, until I decided to plug it into the Soldano cab. Well low and behold it turns out that the TSL 100 actually sounds great, it's just this cab that sucks. So if you want a good cab get a Soldono 4x12. They cost a little more, but whereas this cab is sterile and raspy, they have the fat, warm, rounded tone that most of us are really looking for.

firstly these cabs do not contain celestion vintage 30s, they come stock with Celestion designed Marshall G12 Vintage speakers which are rated at 70 Watts rather than the 75 Watt vintage 30's. Anyone with different speakers has had them replaced at some time.
As 4x12's these along with other late 1960 cabs are alot more versatile than most other 4x12's, they offer 4 or 16 ohms in mono and dual 8 ohm in stereo inputs.
This is simply a different flavour of the industry standard 4x12 guitar cabinet.

2003 1960 AV 4 x 12 Marshall - Vintage Celestions rated at 70 watts.
Stereo or Mono - 4, 8, 16 ohms. Slant back. This cabinet is
very warm and versatile. Built to withstand any abuse.

I use a JCM 2000 DSL 50 watt lead head. I normally play my Les Paul
Custom or my PRS. Any of my guitars sound awesome through this amp.
Sometimes amp parts can become loose and vibrate like the reviewer
has stated above but mine has not suffered any abuse yet so I can't
say how it will hold up. I know they are very tough.

at you. I'd take a Marshall cab without a backup any day without]
a thought.

Overall you can't do much better than this cabinet. The speakers
are warm and powerful, plenty of bottom end and you could crank your
amp to 50 and this thing would still sound tight and sweet.
Do yourself a favor, spend the extra 250.00 to get the better speakers.

The versatility of this cab is a big selling point. The 1960A can be used in a variety of applications and has an overall good sound. I use the cab for rehearsal and live.

My 1960A is very noisey. The handles vibrate like crazy whenever I'm palm muting around the C range. The vibration is so bad that it actually colors the music. Vibration also comes from the ohm switch on the back.
A positive thing to comment on is the overall tone of the cab. It is mean and loud and is quite punishing when called into duty. The cab makes use of the 4 celestions by allowing them to sing freely with next to no obstruction on the front of the cab. It also produces the subtle tones in your music...

I'm 22 and I've been playing guitar for about 15 years. This is the best gigging cab I've played through.
I absolutely hate the vibration. I'm actually considering resorting to another Marshall cab I have that is older and beat up. The handles are very solid on it and swapping the speakers would be easy.

This Cab was made in 2003. It has de new print on the gold plate. It says : 1960 Vintage. The cab has the Celestion Vintage 30 speakers. each speaker rated at 70 Watt. It is 280 Watt full Guns 'n Roses sound. You van switch between mono(4 or 16 ohm) and stereo(8 ohm's per side). This switch is also the reason I bought this Cab. Because for the moment I play with a Marshall 8280 Combo (wich is stereo 2x8 ohm). Im looking for an Orange AD140TC within e few months. The cab is very well and nice made out of 15 mm thick Birch Plywood and has a closed back. The casters are good. This cab is the best cab for his price.

The sound of the cab depends of wich amp an guitar you use. The first thing you should do is to by a good guitar if you don't have a guitar with good pickups. The pickups does sound the amp plus cab good. With an Epiphone or squier or whatever not out of the USA or canada; There isn't any amp and cab who sounds great. I play with a Godin G4000 and G1000. The pickups are really great and sounds very clean and clear. My marshall 8280 (the same as the 8200 head) sounds much better then a JCM900 4100.
With this cab I can go from Dire Straits to System Of A Down. We (my band) play grunge like ( nirvana, foo fighters, ...). The cab sounds great really great for old rock like( led zeppelin, ACDC, black sabbath, jimi hendrix, Iron Maiden). This cab is also the best for metal and punkrock because its warmth. The best for this cab is a good overdrive or distortion. then you hear the speakers sing.
The Cab really sounds much warmer and has much more buttom end than the normal 1960A cabs. If you choose; shure take the vintage 30 series. It's a little bit more expensive than a normal 1960 cab with the G12T75 speakers, but you will certainly have more joy about this cab then a normal or other cab.
If you want a Mesa cab and want to pay much money, then go for it but the sound is much the same and with a bad guitar, they al sound bad.
I can play all styles and the cab sounds great. I just love the closed back clean sounds. You can go so loud with this cab. Only the Orange cab sounds even more great. yeah!

Support of Marshall is good because its from Europe, and I am from Belgium. When I've got problems with it, I go to my dealer (Piens musiccentre). and have a good support.

I've been playing 10 years now and this is my first 4x12 cab.
I play mostly grunge, hard rock and punk.
I have tested Mesa, peavey, LAney, rivera, and the usual 1960 marshalls.
My final decision was this 1960AV.
There are a million 1960A cabs but there are not that much 1960AV cabs, wich makes him a little bit unique:-)
the only cab who is also as good as the marshall is the Orange 4x12.
I just love this cab because its simplicity and warm feeling.
