JCM 900 1960b Cab. 4 celestion 75watt speakers. Stereo/Mono option with 4, 8 and 16 ohms. It gets a 6 because it's a cabinet. How many features do you really need?

Sound Quality : 10
I think this thing sounds fucking awesome. Huge tone! Who would have thought a cab could make that much of a difference! I play an epiphone les paul custom with BBQ humbuckers through a boss tu-2, a bad horsie wah, a boss super chorus and then into a marshall jmp-1 preamp, which is powered by an Ampeg stereo power amp loaded with jj kt88's and ecc83s's. I play mainly metal/hardcore and I'm so happy I found this cabinet. It just has a huge sound to it. The bass is nice and tight, the mids are there, and the highs are crisp and well defined. I'm not sure why so many people have been slamming this cab. I think it handles the low end just fine. I mean it's a guitar cab not a bass enclosure. Even at dropped tunings (C and C#) this thing rocks and holds it's composure just fine. I personally find that those who go for a really bassy tone usually sound really nice by themselves, but put that tone in a band setting and it just doesn't cut through worth a shit.

Reliability : 9
I bought this thing used. It looks like it's seen a few shows in its day. The tolex is ripped in a few places. I'm thinking about just taking it off. Regardless, it sounds great. I could give a shit if it looks like a truck hit as long as it sounds this good. It's never shorted out on me or never been able to take what I can give it. It sounds better the louder it is. The only complaint would be about the tolex. It just seems like they don't put much into making sure the stuff stays on. Oh well, it doesn't affect the tone so I can live with it.

Customer Support : 10
I've never dealt with them about the cabinet, but I've had questions about the JMP-1 before which I sent via email. Everytime I got a quick response and thorough answer. They've always been really nice.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 14 years now and have only owned one other 4x12 in that time. It's a crate which is loaded with 50watt celestions, which sounds excellent. That's why I've had it so long. It just can't touch the Marshall though. I'm thinking about selling the crate and buying another 1960B and running them in stereo. I tried it with the crate but the Marshall just overpowers it. I've put it up against another crate with vintage 30's in it and a mesa recto cab and I just love the sound of the Marshall better. It's tighter, more focused and just warmer and natural sounding with an amazing crunch factor. It's a bottom cab so it's a little heavy on the bass side. I tweaked the presence on the preamp and the power amp and that was the end of that. I wanted a cab with a fuller, bigger sound and this is it. I couldn't be happier.

This is an acoustically treated cab done by Voodoo Amps. Pretty standard 4x12 cabinet with all GH-t75 speakers.. Mono (16ohm) or stereo (2x8ohm) operation. No change from stock in features.

Sound Quality : 10
This cab in it's stock form sounded pretty harsh / and was a little lacking in the bottom end dept. Trace fied all that, this thing now shakes the house down, with improved clarity and feel.

Reliability : No Opinion
No change from stock. I will always slam Marshall for their rippable, seemingly cheap tolex that looks awesome whe you fist get it, but a few gigs later the rips just keep on coming. Asthetics aside, seems to be built like a tank. Trace also re-enforced every little screw in the cab.

Customer Support : 10
In case you haven't heard, Trace and co. absolutely rule in this dept.

Overall Rating : 10
This thing rocks now, to put it simply. The bass response and clarity have improved so much, I doubt I'll look for another cab for a long time, unless it's no longer practical for a 4x12. Than it'll be Voodoo 2x12 all the way.

Everybody is familiar with marshall cabs so I won't bore you with the details, not that there's many anyway, it's a 412 cab stereo/mono yada yada, they look real good from about 10 feet away, super mean and metal looking. Up close they look cheap and gimicky

Sound Quality : 1
No other word for, these cabinets sound like ass. They suck. They cannot, repeat cannot handle any bass, they fart out at high volume and they color your guitar tone something aweful. I bought 2 brand new, all excited about the tonal bliss I was about to experience. What a nightmare. We went through our set at rehearsal, one song with the marshalls, then again with the carvin 412's they were replacing. Then repeated the process for several songs, though it only took one song to realize that the carvins blew the marshalls away. I have no idea why. Carvins are like one step down from peavey and (at least I thought) about 20 steps down from a marshall. Guess again. The carvins had a more brutal sounding distortion, didn't fart out loud and even had a much better clean sound. I don't know anything about the 100watt brittish series speakers in the carvin, but they blow the marshall 75 watt celestians away. Maybe older marshalls were THE SHIT, but these new ones are just shit period. Don't buy them.

Reliability : 3
only had them 2 days. Thank god for guitar centers lax return policy. I did worry about the cheesy plastic handles. They felt like they were going to crack when I picked the cabs up. And cloth grills have got to go, period!!!!

Customer Support : No Opinion
like I said, only had these 90 pound paper weights for 2 days

Overall Rating : 5
Nothing looks better than a marshall stack. Too bad you can't get by on looks alone

standard 4 x 12 marshall cab, made late 90's,4 castors,2 side handles,2 inputs with stereo and mono switch.it has enough features for a cab.its covered in that black elephant skin type cover which is shit as it easily ripps.these things should be covered in soft pvc type coating as they are always getting abused when moved.

Sound Quality : 8
i play mostly metal such as slipknot, machine head, pantera, slayer.
heavy as hell palm muting fast crunchy fat riffs.i play various mahogony guitars all fitted with emg-81 pick ups, through a marshall 9200 power amp into a pod pro through fx loop of boss gx-700.then through a behringer 32 band eq.my stereo output goes into marshall 4 x 12(v30's) and marshall 4 x 12 (g12t75-the one im reviewing).
when i first got this cab i had my volume turned up about just under half way with the bass right up and it sounded great-fat,bassy,chunky fat crunch-yes.until my drummer started playing, then my bass player oh and then some grunter starts to sing-shit i cant hear myself and they cant here me-ok i'll just turn up a bit,a bit more-no right up.the bass started to flap and fart my speakers to hell,so i turned the bass down, well right down actually=no fat bassy sound,no fat crunch,no muscle and 1 pissed off guitarist.i just cant handle bass at high volumes and every other marshall user will agree with me.a cab should be able to handle the right amount of bass compared to how much high and mids you have-this cab does'nt.the projection aint to great either, the sound sort of stays with the speakers and doesnt fill the room.
do yourself a favour and listen to what i have done.no i havent brought a mesa cab(who has that amount of money for something thats just gonna get knocked about to shit)take the back of your cab off and insert wood around the edges basically when re-fitted it will be deeper.holly shitttttttttttttt this really works,it can produce and handle the bass at high volume and doesnt fart out-its great it also helps projection as you can have more bass which makes it easier to hear.if you want the dimensions to what i did then e-mail peterlynsey@HOTMAIL.COM.it costs only about 2 pounds for the wood and 5 for spray paint.i will rate it 3 and 8 now after mod.

Reliability : 8
if you drive it into a brick wall then you will fuck it up.its gonna get bumped and chipped and ripped so be prepared.i've had it 3 years and its never stopped working, castors are still working.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never used them but if you want info on modifying it or about the speakers contact drdecibal@celestion.com.he always answer my boring long e-mails about anything.

Overall Rating : 6
i think marshall are stuck in the dark ages when it comes to cabs.they've been making the same cabs for the last 30 years.
the cab is great cosmetic wise but it just cant handle todays music,i want to turn up to practice or gig, turn on and sound fuckin huge.
it does now after the mod but thats what i've done and i dont know shit about sound engineering, says alot about marshall.

I use a 61' reissue gibson SG with classic 57' humbuckers into a Peavet 5150, Alesis Compressor, and BBE Sonic MAXI.
It has a much tigter sound than my other Jackson USA cabinet, but it is not as bassy. I play hardcore punk so without sounding to lame bass is important to me. But I play with the cabinet sideways on top of my rack so it hels with the bass response.

Reliability : No Opinion
yeah definetly strong. Not as strong as my jackson cab, but it prolly ways 50 pounds less, wich is one of the reasons i bought it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
It had been previously used once for a blues convention and returned with a handle broken off. So Im gonna plug Marshall for a new handle. ill se how it goes

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I love the tightness oof the sound but I wish it had more bass flexibility. if it where stolen i would find another used one and buy it with the insurance money...its all about finding top quality usd equipment, and saving

stereo/mono switch,loud as hell.It's a Marshall cab,what else can you say?

Sound Quality : 9
I run a Sansamp psa-1 into a Marshall 8008 power amp, then into the Marshall cab.I use a Jackson U.S.A Randy Rhoads model with EMG pickups.Plain and simple.I play brutal thrash/death type metal music. This cab is perfect. The low end is tight and full bodied chords are very clear.Mesa fans might not like it because it's more cutting and choppy as opposed to bassy and a little more loose.I'm not doggin' Mesa,I just prefer Marshall cabs.

Reliability : 10
No problems so far.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had to deal with them yet.

Overall Rating : 10
Long story short.I will always use these cabs unless something better comes along, which is a long time coming.

Playin hard rock and other styles thru a 60 watt blue voodoo. This cab made my amp sound totally differet from before (marshall 2x12 cab)
lotsa headroom. Overall well balance sounds but if you push the bass alot it can get loose sounding (partly due to my head). Sounds really clear for both clean and distorted tones with good headroom.

Just got 2 yesterday

NIce piece to have if you play heavy music. sounds fuller than the slant cabs.

I bought it new, in a cardboard box. It's lighter than my 1960A, took the passenger seat out of my Jetta and it fits right in there. In stereo mode you have 2 speakers on the left & 2 on the right working independently, 8 ohms each side. In mono mode one jack becomes a 4 ohm mono input(all speakers) and the other is a 16 ohm input(all).

Sound Quality : 10
Humbucking bolt on guitars. It has the regular 75 watt Celestions in it. I looked into the BV but I have enough high end going on, the greenbacks sounded a little thin to me. I play rock or pop rock. I use a lot of distortion and these sound great to me.

Reliability : No Opinion
The wheels roll alot better than my old '84 1960A cab. I don't know how to rate this category. After owning a 1960 A for 17 years and not having a problem I'd expect the same.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing 22 years or so. I love everything about it. I wouldn't buy another brand unless I came into some money and bought a Bogner head or something and wanted matching cabs. To me the Marshall stack has always said 'ROCK'. Sad to say but the cosmetics had something to do with it!
