I ordered this new and it came from coast to coast. Marshall really should have better boxes for shipments. Any hits to the box will result in ripped tolex or grill. I would recommend a thin piece of wood inside the box. I always open up cabinets and check for loose components so this is what I found: All the speaker screws were loose. They include a wood center support but it is not attached to the rear panel. The bottom of the support was only attached by two small wood screws. If you want this to be solid you will need to do some work. I glued the base support and screwed that into the back cover. I see no reason whatsoever not to do this at the factory. Also the side handles are cheap plastic. I ordered some metal ones from MoJO. The quality of the rest of the cabinet is very appealing and professional. I like the extra size in both width and height.

I bought this because I wanted the best and get the old school sound I hear on recordings. I have a Gibson SG custom shop with 57 Humbuckers. My head is a professionally modified (Dave Bray) Marshall 1987X. The cabinet delivers with the greenback speakers. I can get ZZ Top, AC/DC, whoever else used this stuff. I never used a original vintage cabinet but I can't fathom it sounding any more on than this. I am happy with this as is.

If you are expecting this to be right out of the box - it won't be. But with a little tweeking it will be what it should. It is overpriced but most of the money is for the sound and look. Quality should be better for $1100.00.

not a whole lot of "features" really... I'm not sure how you would have a feature on just a 4x12 cab. The grill clothe is very nice, and I enjoy its size.

sounds fantastic! very warm mids, and sparkling highs! this cab has insane low end due to the large size, and can blow just about any other cab out of the water...my favorite cab that I've owned thus far in this area!

This cab always sounds great.
the only real issue I've had with the cab is that the stock marshall handles are very cheap plastic. I'd recommend buying the cab, then immediately ordering some metal handles for it. the cheap plastic handles broke very easily, which sucks if you are on the road with it (which I was)

Good sound. I had a bad rattle too between G and B notes on the E string. It turned out to be the internal brace in the center of the cab that goes between the back panel and the front speaker panel. The brace/stud vibrates against the back panel. I fixed it by adding an additional screw thru the back panel and into the brace/stud.

For me,the bottom line is that there just isn't enough bottom. I want to be able to dive bomb the low E and feel like I'm being sucked into the cab. This cab does not do that. But that's what you get when you buy sight-unseen and go by reviews that are glowing.

I've had this cabinet for about 6 years and really just kind of rediscovered it because I hadn't played through it for a few years. I have a 50w 4 input, plexi style marshall head that was made in about the same year which I assume to be 2000 because I bought the pair in 01 brand new. The first couple years I played through a power brake at fairly low volumes in my house and I always loved the sound with my strat. 97 strat plus with rosewood fretboard and texas special pickups. I haven't played through many other cabinets to compare it to but it nailed the Hendrix and Zeppelin sounds I was after. The major problem I noticed was when I eliminated the power brake and played it loud it has a terrible rattle on lower notes F# to G on 6th string. This is very distracting and literally sounds like there is a jackhammer inside the cabinet trying to get out. I'm not sure if it is destructive to the cabinet or speakers but it doesn't sound like it is a good thing.
It definitely sounds best with the marshall which has GT E34L's and GT 12AX7's, I used my Reverend 60w amp with 6L6's and 12Ax7s and it just doesn't work well with the strat like it does with the marshall head.
The rattle is some kind of resonance problem which I am attempting to fix. If I get it fixed I'd be much happier with the cabinet but it shouldn't leave the factor with an apparent design flaw like that. Maybe it is a limited thing as I have seen only one other reviewer mention this same problem.
I will say though that with the marshall amp this cabinet can get extremely loud to the point of being painful in anything less than a very large room and closer than 15 ft.

Again it is a cabinet and simple by design but I have never had any issues with reliability such as a short of speaker failing. It has never been run hard though or played at high volume levels for extended periods.

This is the only nice cabinet I have ever owned but I plan to add to my collection. I am having some work done to the head and I plan to keep them as a pair but would like to try other cabinets eventually. I played through an Orange 4x12 cabinet and it sounded great but it was through an orange amp as well so I'm sure it'd sound different through my amp. Maybe eventually I will be able to take my amp and demo it with some other cabinets but for now I am happy with this cabinet overall.

Back of the Cab reads 1960 TV, the previous owner says he's done some research and it was built in 1989.
One input, 4x12" Celestion Greenbacks.

I'm currently powering the cabinet with my Mesa Boogie F-30 and playing my Fender Cyclone (with a Duncan JB JR in the neck and stock pickup in the bridge position). I use a couple of effects in the signal chain: Ibanez Tubescreamer, Boss Tremolo, Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Wah, and Line 6 DL4.
I play a bit of everything, some bluesy stuff, some rock, whatever comes to my head and some covers. The cabinet does everything from clean to high gain excellently, once i got it home and plugged it in i couldn't resist turning it up to enjoy it.
Reliability

The cabinet itself is fairly beat up, looks like it's seen it's share of stages and vans. The Tolex is ripped and the grille cloth is in rough shape (but mostly in tact). Being an older cabinet it is made from actual plywood and not from the sawdust & glue chipboard that a lot of newer cabinets are built from. I'd drop it off a stage or back of a truck and think it'd hold up... but really don't want to test that theory. IF i ever start touring with it i'm buying a roadcase.

I've been playing for about 4 years now, played various amps and guitars, Fender, Vox, Mesa, and am most pleased with my current setup. I've considered going to just a Mesa F-30 head to power the cabinet with but decided to keep the combo for smaller gigs and venues.
If this cabinet were stolen i'd track the bastard down and beat them with thier own shoe. if it were somehow lost it would take forever for me to find it's replacement seeing as they just don't make 'em like they used to.
I like the sound of the cab, it's a bit big, but still fits in the back of my 99 Cavalier Z24, it's not so pretty on the exterior but works just fine. The castors are a little sticky but they are just about 20 years old, will replace in good time.
I played this cabinet and one other used Marshall cabinet (a 1960B i think) with Vintage 30's in it. The TV cab sounded warmer and didn't have a serious mid-deficiency. The greenbacks sound wonderful, well rounded and cover the frequency range well. If i get some money i may look into replacing the stock mesa speaker in my F-30 with a greenback.

Not many features, but so what.
The one I have now is an "older" reissue, made completely from ply and supposedly a few inches deeper than the recent ones.
This is my second TV cab. I sold my first when my old band broke up and I moved across the country. I tried a couple other cabinets that SUCKED by comparison. I play a 1969 Marshall super lead 100w amp, which fried the greenbacks in my first TV cab in approximately 7 minutes the first time I hooked it up. YOW! But it sounded damn good until that happened. Because I'd bought that one new, Marshall was kind enough to replace all 4 free of charge. I kept them in there and used another open-back Fender 2x12" cab with EVs as well. That was an insanely fat, loud live sound I had. It was a pain to truck all those speakers around though. And of course I was unecessarily loud. That was back in the days before the Hot Plate.
Anyways, because of that experience, this time I took the greenbacks out of my second TV cab and installed 75w celestions instead. It might not sound quite as great, but it does sound wonderful, and at least it works!
I don't need stereo wiring, so I don't care that this speaker doesn't have it. It has two jacks, so if you care about stereo wiring, you could just rewire the thing.
Sound Quality
:

Sounds great.. a lot more bass than a normal 4x12" because it's taller. The wood must flex more. It also sounds good because the speakers are back-mounted, not front-mounted. Front-mounted (a la Mesa, Fender, etc) is stupid penny-pinching cheesy sounding crap, bro.
I love celestion speakers. I know the greenbacks are better than the 75w, but with my 100w amp (puts out 130w actually) I just don't have much of a choice. Not unless I wanted to cart around two of these cabinets.
Reliability
:
6
Dead reliable from an electronic standpoint. ..at least after I replaced the greenbacks with 75w speaks. Otherwise, I'd be frying speakers with regularity.
But you know what sucks? The recessed plastic handles. NEVER pick it up by one handle. They will break. Ask me how I know. Also, the caster wheels suck. I've broken a couple of those too. Anyway, this thing seems like it would be tough, but it still must be babied.

Marshall was really nice for replacing the greenbacks in my first TV cab. They did it quickly too. My argument was lame but they bought it... "Hey you guys said this was a 100w cab. I have a 100w amp, so why did the spkrs blow??" heh.

For about 5 years I ewas very satisfied with it. I thought it was better than a 4x 75 watt speaker. But.... just now I bought a 1969 4x 25 watt original greenback cabinet. You might have guessed: I was blown away with it's sparkling 3 dimensional sound. Clean or distarted: wondrfull! Unless you have heard it you probably would not believe it. I am about putting away my 1960TV reissue. It is somewhat harsh with ugly midhighs compared to the original. It's is true: they don't make this quality these days. I am a big Marshall fan and loved my old set but the holy grail lies in the past. For this reason it gets 7 points.

i have to admit that i am not impressed with this cabinet. it does look awesome, but it doesnt have any low end. i have a plexi head that i run through it and i a/b'd it next to my super reverb and believe it or not, the 4x10s have almost twice as much bottom. i will say that i dont regret buying it, because it does look awesome and looks great along side the plexi but i do plan on replacing the speakers. i was under the impression that the larger cabinet would allow the speakers to breathe/throw more. if i didnt have the super reverb to compare it to, i probably wouldnt have any complaints. i realize that they are two totally different animals and i dont expect them to have the same characteristics, but i do expect the TV to have more range, or at least a better sound.

I don't know how to explain it...
Perfect!..no, nothing's perfect...
Almost perfect!
This cab breathes! It pushes and throws the sound at you, perfectly balanced. Thick mids, full bottom, beautiful highs.
The extra large dimensions of the cab and the greenback speakers go together so well.
The basket weave grill cloth actually filters out a touch of the high end (annoying buzz), overdrives and distortions sound smooth and lush.
I've plugged many amps into this cab and was astounded at how much better they sounded. It brings tube amps to life, it has a 3-D sound that surrounds you.
The sound I enjoy playing with is kind of like a Van Halen meets Led Zeppelinish tone. Although, alot of the songs we play in the band call for clean sounds, which sound huge and full.
I've had this cab for 2 years and have used it with a 71 Marshall Superlead, Rivera TBR-1SL, Vox AC30.
I'm really hard pressed describing how much I love the sound of this cab, I'm really impressed, you have to try one.

I honestly can't see how anyone wouldn't agree this is the best 4x12 cab around, period, if your into a rock sound.
I buy, sell and trade amps from time to time, but this cab is staying!
Sadly, I can't use it for smaller gigs (I have a combo for them), but when my band plays larger gigs (a few times a month) my band members cheer (seriously) as they see me loading it in.

1998 Marshall 1960TV ("Tall Vintage") filled with 25W greenbacks. This is the tallest quadbox i've ever seen. I added some of my own castors to it and it looks very imposing. One 16ohm mono input. The cabinet is fairly heavy and takes some effort to get into the back of my car. The addition of castors was a must before I gigged with this thing.
Sound Quality

I'm running a 1997 Marshall 1987XW ("plexi" reissue) into this cabinet. It's amazing how much air this cabinet really moves. It makes the room shake with the amp even at its lowest volumes (it is a loud amp though.. ). The greenback speakers are really warm and have a particularly nice low end/low midrange sound. The additional height of the cabinet lets it get even more air than a normal quad which further improves the bass response of the cabinet.
The speaker magnets are seriously powerful, rolling the cabinet past my television (at a fair distance) caused the picture to go all strange as the amp went past. I've never seen that happen with another cabinet.
This quad is definitely suited to people after a bassy warm sound in their tone. The greenbacks are fantastic speakers in a normal sized cabinet, but the extra height really adds something special.
Reliability
:
10
Built like a brick. I think i'd struggle to do damage to this quad. The only way i can imagine damaging it is running too much power into it (it's only 100W) and frying the speakers that way. Thats pretty hard to do with my 50W head at the moment :).

I've been playing 8 years or thereabouts. This amp is worth it just for the look. The grill cloth looks really special and gives your stack some personality. The small marshall logo and gold trim also look really cool. I'd certainly look for another one of these (pretty hard to track down in Australia) or one of the normal sized marshall cabinets with greenbacks if it was ever lost/stolen.
I've played a few quads and none come close to the low end response of this box. I play mostly fender guitars and my tone is fairly treble heavy, so the low end of this box really balances my tone in a nice way. When cranked this cabinet sounds huge.
I was told when I bought my reissue plexi that I needed greenbacks to make it sing, and it's amazing what a difference the speakers make to this amp. They really bring out a lot more warmth.
The only feature missing that would be kinda cool is a stereo option, but being a 100W cabinet i can see why this was left off.

Others have covered the essentials - it's 4" taller than the standard 1960 range of 4x12's, it has a lovely weave & a small sweet logo, an angled front and those stunning 25W Greenbacks. Dunno how to rate the features of a cab, but for looks alone it gets a 10. This thing is lovely to behold, and looks the dog's nadgers on stage.

My main geetar is a battered but beautiful 62 Strat fitted with Kinman pup's (stunningly authentic but without the noise!). This cab is part of my live rig, which is built around a TSL100 (fitted with ECC83/5751 G.E.-JAN valves - crisper, clearer 'n tighter than the cheap fizzy shit they fit as standard!). There's also a big pedal board with loads of stuff, switched in all manner of complicated ways to minimise tone loss.
Previously I'd been using 2 x 1920 2x12's. They were portable (this bastard isn't!) and kinda ok. But at a recent (fairly large) gig I played through a 1960AX 4x12 and (a) blew the back of my head off - I had forgotten just how much air these mothers shift!, and (b) was blown away by just how much better it sounded - like the guitar & rig had gotten pumped up on steroids. So I went down to my local geetar emporium only to find the fuckers had made a msitake when I called them on the phone and they hadn't in fact got a 1960AX in stock after-all. But they did have a 1960TV. I played. I fell in love. I bought.
Others have described this thing well - smooth is a great word, rounded works for me, too. But the thing I still can't get over is how much more 'tone' there is - I simply get more of my 'tone' than I ever did before. It's not just that the sound is 'bigger' (although it is), it's that it's richer, more 3D, there seems to be more 'space' inside the sound.

You could drop one of these instead of a bomb and it would do at least as much damage. To what it lands on, that is. The cab'd probably still be in perfect working order.

Marshall don't have a great name for service support. I've not had to call them abut this cab, but I've called them about other stuff before and they were just useless (the service operator couldn't even get impedence calculations right - not what you expect of a fucking amp & speaker manafucturer!!!)

I've had this baby for just over a month. I am in heaven. I'd been using a Pod Pro for most studio stuff, but I'm now seriously thinking I'd rather use my live rig at all times. No matter how much hard work moving this cab is (let alone the rest of the gear ...)!
I play all sorts - lots of soul/RnB (classy big 8 piece band), quite a lot of blues/bluesy rock (loud 3 piece), not as much jazzy stuff or funk as I'd like to, and occasionally Indie guitar pop. My set up works fantastically in all these situations - and the cab sounds majestically listenable no matter what sound I'm trying to get to. EVeryone who plays with me regularly has spontaneously commented on how fabulous this thing sounds.
Do yourself a favour. Go play one.

It stands extra tall like the vintage original Marshall 4x12 cabinets, which gives it better bass response and projection than all other standard-size 4x12 cabinets (Mesa standard, Marshall 1960 A/B, etc.) Can only be run at 16 ohms; has one standard 1/4" jack. Beautiful basketweave grillecloth with gold piping, and gold Marshall logo, extra small. Truly an esteemed player's cabinet.

First, I won't give any product a 10 rating. With that being said, this is the best cabinet that I've ever heard, period. The greenbacks have an incredible smooth response to them, not too much bass, not too much treble, and plenty of midrange. They're not harsh in the least, and break up beautifully. They sound perfect for slightly distorted jazz guitar with my Les Pauls, and I think they sound great for hard rock and metal, too. Hell, these are the cabinets that Metallica uses with their Mesas! I like the response of the greenbacks more than the vintage 30's, and a hell of a lot more than the harsh sound of GT-75's.
I'm running this cabinet with 2 Gibson Les Paul Customs, one being a 1978 Silverburst with an H1+ Tom Anderson pickup in the neck, and an H3+ Tom Anderson pickup in the bridge, and the other being a 1969 Black Beauty with original pickups in it. I also play a 1999 Ibanez Universe UV777BK as well. The amps are a Marshall 1959SLP 100-watt reissue (awesome amp, but going to replace the output transformer for a better sound), a Peavey 5150 II, and a Sovtek Mig100H. All of the amps sound their best through this cabinet, especially the Sovtek. My god, it made it sound just like it is supposed to: and old modified Marshall head.
A definite improvement over the other 4x12 cabinet that I have, a Marshall 1960B with GT-75's.

This cab was handbuilt in the UK at the Marshall factory, with finger-locking joints, etc. It weighs a ton, and doesn't seem like it would EVER fall apart.

I've never dealt with Marshall/Korg, but I've heard that their customer support sucks hard. I won't rate them, however, because I've never personally dealt with them.

I got this cabinet and a Marshall 1959SLP 100-watt reissue plexi head for 1100 dollars total NEW!!!! The guy who originally had it had bought it for 2000 dollars, and his wife made him sell it a week later to buy a new car. I lucked out with the deal of a lifetime. Hell, the head itself sells in Musicians Friend for 1100 dollars!!!
This cabinet is a dream. It sounds incredible, and, luckly, looks amazing too. Get this cabinet if you are looking to get as close to a vintage sound has you can. Also, if you're into playing any modern rock and are having problems with other cabinets sound harsh when you crank them, give this one a try. It can definetly take your sound to the next level.

Basically a larger (hint "Tall Vintage" TV) version of the 1960AX. This amp comes with 4 25 watt Celestion Greenbacks. The stock wiring has been replaced with a larger guage for better sound. Big and hard to carry around, but its worth it for the sound. What can I say, it's a big 4x12 cab.

SOUNDS AWESOME. Being noticeable larger than most 4x12 cabs but still having the slanted top makes the bass sound awesome with the projection (and cool looks) of a bottom or straight cab. The Celestion Greenbacks are great for the mainly classic rock/ hard blues type stuff I play

Running my 1987x through this and a 58' reissue Les Paul sounds pretty damn awesome. I got it for a great price so I am ecstatic. Not too many of these cabs come up for sale because everybody that plays them loves them and they don't make them anymore. I don't ever gig it out, so I don't have to move it, but if I did that would be a real pain in butt because it is so large, probably the only fault with it, but it needs to be for the sound. If it were stolen I would hunt down the person and beat them like osama's gonna get beaten.
