Late 80's. Pretty rare. Picked mine up used in 1994 for about ??150.

As this is a 4x10, not the 4x12's I was used to, I tried the cab in the shop before purchasing, and pleased with the sound, I bought it. I then took it into the studio with the band and cranked it up. I was using a Laney session 40 as a pre-amp through a 1973 Marshall JMP20. Sounded great. I've since used a Marshall VS100 Valvestate head. I got this amp because it was a perfect match for the cab. The two combined have a fantastic sound. Been gigging them both for plenty of years an neither have let me down. I couldn't believe the quality of sound from a 4x10.

Very very reliable, and it's unbelievably light and compact - 18"x18"x12". Fits in the boot of my car (Mazda 6) with the amp head, two guitars in cases, two effects boards, stands and a sports bag - without removing the parcel shelf. I'd struggle to get a 4x12 in there, even if I could find anyone willing to help me lift it!
As I say, I use a 100w head cranked right up until my ears are ringing, and this cab handles it very well. Never let me down. The only downside is the plastic handles. They are pretty flimsy, and crack easily. Metal wouldn't have added much to the weight, and would ensure a 10/10 score in this section instead of the 9. However, that's purely because of the handles. the cab, speakers and finish are great.

I've been playing for about 25 years. I use Marshall, Boss, Gibson, Ibanez and Fender. I would never go back to a 4x12 cab unless I could afford to pay someone to store it and drag it around for me. As said, the ONLY downside is the flimsy handles, but so what - this cab is GREAT!! If it was lost or stolen? Don't know what I'd do. It's the only one I've ever seen in the condition that it's in. Not a single break or tear anywhere on it (apart from a crack in one of the handles).

I have two of these cabs and I believe both were made in the late 80s but not sure of the exact year. This is a basic speaker cab with an 8 ohm input and 4 10" 35 watt celestions.

These things have tone for days!! I play in a band that does both originals and covers of all styles, and the tone from these things covers everything from country to hard rock. My rig is Gibson SG > BBE wah > MXR 10-band EQ > UniVibe > Boss Super Chorus > Boss DD3 Delay > Marshall JCM 2550 Jubilee head > 2 Marshall 1965A cabs.
I used to use 4x12 cabs, but found the tone of the 1965 to be much tighter and smoother. Plus these are a lot easier on the back. The overall volume seems to be less than running my amp with the same settings through a 4x12, but it is still plenty of volume for small clubs and theaters. I run one of them for small venues, and then 2 for larger venues like outdoor festivals. The 1965 cabs can cover just about any situation and style of music.

I've used both of my 1965 cabs for about 200 shows a year for the last 4 years and have had no problems at all with either one. They're built very tough. I've taken these all over the country in a trailer and other than the tears in the tolex, they have worked perfectly.

Never had to deal with Marshall on these cabs or my amps, so I don't have much to offer here. My gear is all over 20 years old, so the warranties are long gone. But this is a speaker cabinet, so you really don't need a a service center. If a speaker blows, just put another one in.

I've been playing for over 15 years and have gone through all kinds of amps and cabinets. The 1965's are the best sounding most versatile cabs I have ever used. If these were lost or stolen, I would definitely buy another. That's assuming I could find one. These weren't made very long and they're a little hard to find these days.
The 1965s are great for just about any style of music, except maybe metal. They don't really have the growl for metal, but I've used them playing everything from the Beatles to Guns n Roses and everything in between. Definitely a great speaker cab.

4x10, 8 ohm,Celestion 35w (140 total), closed back, handles are plastic, but durable. Don't have a features rating, it's moot on a cab, unless it's got a cappucino maker attached.
Bought this used from a guitarist for a major rock band in the 70s and 80s, so it has a lot of miles, but it's never been abused. Road cases all the time. Used around the world, mic'ed backstage. It's a prolatarian cab that doesn't weigh a ton, and has a really good sound.

Excellent. I have two slant cabs and one straight. I pair the slant with a straight for a small stack, coupled with my Carvin MST3200. I have a great tight, midrangey sound that goes well With the Warmoth custom Strat, and Tele copies, or the Les Paul Deluxe (1972) I play with it. I've never been happier with my sound. I play mostly Classic Rock through this rig, so I'm thrilled with the characteristic Marshall "growl" I get from this. It's not so overwhelmingly loud that you feel you can't use it on a small gig. I don't play without both cabs anymore. I don't usually give a "10", but this deserves it!

It's a cab, if it's unreliable, then it's a cheap Behringer cab, and the cones would easily break. It's not though, so I expect this to sound awesome for years to come. No rating, again it's moot!

Great Cabs! If lost or stolen, I'd have to go and do a search for the person who has it, since I have the serial numbers of everything I own stored and safe. Then I'd have the local constabulary arrest him, and flog him before, and release him to my tender mercies. Then I'd turn him over to the neighbor's Pit Bull/Rottweiler mutts. They don't get fed enough! Then I'd look for another one, with tears welling in my eyes, after looking at the prices of these collectors' items.

Probably made in the 1980's, which makes it close to twenty years old now. It's a smaller size cab than a stock 1960A 4x12, probably about 2/3 the size, and a LOT lighter. I love the fact I pick this cab up unaided and carry it around with ease, plus it fits in my car a lot better.
The cab has 4x10" speakers, 35w Celestions and is set for 8ohms only, so I've had to make sure I switch the impednance of my amps a I am used to running my other cabs at 16ohms. No big deal though.
It's a speaker cab, not heavily loaded with features. People complain the plastic handles aren't great but they're still in perfect condition considering this cab is about two decades old. No castors, but you don't actually need them due to the weight and size difference between this and a 4x12.
I'd say the biggest feature about this amp is the compact size and the extremely impressive tone for that size.

I bought this from a friend after being sick of lugging around a 4x12 for ages. I run a Rivera Knucklehead K-100 head (one of the best vintage/modern sounding amps I have ever played, and arguably, the best tone I've ever had - if you don't know them, it's like having a Twin Reverb that's switchable between Tweed & Blackface on one channel and a JCM800 with footswitchable gain boost on the other) and a Marshall DSL 100 (also a good amp if you prefer a more basic raw sound), plus a few effects (Boss Tuner, wah, delay, phaser, chorus, Hotcake overdrive) into one of my four guitars - Gibson 61 Reissue SG or 76 Reissue Explorer / Fender 69 Reissue Thinline Telecaster or 62 Reissue Japanese Jazzmaster.
I play in an indie rock band, which I'd equate to sounding somewhere between No Doubt, Bloc Party, The Strokes, Kings of Leon but we have a semi-comparable sound to girl fronted bands like Paramore and Letters to Cleo due to our female singer. I tend to play with more gain and effects that the other guitarist, who has a more traditional sound - ES-335 or Strat into a Fender DeVille.
My Rivera sounds best with this cab, and because the Knucklehead is smaller than the Marshall head, it fits on top of the cab pefectly, giving me a smaller stack that is just at gutsy. The low end and midrange on this cab is amazing and the highs are very tame, not at all what was expecting. Ten-inch speakers are a different kettle of fish to twelves. More punchy, smooth, less low end mud. I might never used 12's again at this rate.
The cab sounds very full for clean sounds and super punchy for dirty ones. As the total rating for the cab is like 140w, it breaks up a bit better with gain but still manages to get a sweet clarity on cleaner tones. Very versatile and I get a lot of comments since using on it on how much I cut through in the band.

These are a great alternative to full size quads without any compromise in tone. If you can pick one up cheap, you'll never want to play a quad again unless someone else is moving it for you.
I'd say the only improvement would be to have metal handles over plastic, but it would probably increase the weight ratio somewhat.

I'm running a Carvin Nomad in to the Marshall cab . The Carvin is about 35 watts or so . The guitar's I have are a tele nashvill , Epiphone 335 with Seth lovers and a schecter Banshee thats like a strat with a lipstick neck pickup and a humbucker in the bridge.I split my signal with volume pedal to the carvin with the marshall cab and the other to a Fender Super Reverb RI it also has 4x10's. I run the carvin on the dirty channel and set the super reverb to break up.I control the super reverb with guitar volume and the carvin/marshall with the volume pedal to blend the two amps . The Marshall cab is quiet compared to the fender . It sounds great clean or with preamp distortion as well with natural power tube distortion when the clean channel is crank . If you opean the back up it sounds more like a fender cab. This marshall cab is working great for me no need for other distortion pedals.Just the volume pedal, guitar and the Carvin with the Marshall cab and Super Reverb for 8-10's cutting through the mix.I have not wired Marshall to 2 ohms to connect it up to the super reverb yet maybe some day.

I come from germany, so please ignore my suck grammar!
i bought this cab 2006(used) and played it with an Pod + amplifier.
the sound was more a compromise then a satisfaction. yesterday i played this cab with an ordinary behringer amp... the sound was amazing!!!
this cab create a very harmonical sound: the middes come very cordial and the bass accurately defined.
The best cap ever!!!

Excellent tones coming from this thing considering it was built sometime in the 80s and has been through quite some action. Nice and punchy. However I had trouble finding a nice sparkly setting from my Fender 65' Deluxe Reverb RI - but more about that later on.
Next amp I tried it with was a Epiphone Valve Junior and I was blown away. Excellent vintage tones from an amp of that size. This cabinet sure does bring out the tones - don't be fooled by its size...
Last amp I tried was a Marshall JCM 900 (it's not mine) which sounds very beefy. Nice tight end as expected from the 10s. I' m not into marshall stuff n I have no idea how it compares to a 4x12 - check the other reviews bout' that...
So here's the deal. I bought the thing for my Deluxe Reverb. Converted the Deluxe combo into a tweed top (which looks excellent) - this was mainly for reasons of WEIGHT. I hate lugging heavy stuff around and when moving between gigs, rehearsal and studio you get pissed when stuff is heavy. So I wasn't looking for a sound improvement in the first place...
When I first hooked it up when I was alone I was quite comfortable with the sound - definitely moves way more air than the single 12 of the Fender combo. But no matter how I set my amp I couldn't get those sparkly fender tones out of it. I just had no idea of how much of the 'marshall' tone had to do with their cabinet construction!
But instead of putting it back on ebay I opened up the rear cover today and - voila! There's the sound I was looking for - much more like a Fender Bassman! I continued playin while a band mate opened and closed the cab for comparisson. With the back on much more sound is projected toward the front while removing the back opens up to a real nice room filling sound.
Conclusion - gona build some rear panel and keep it for open back operation - with it's small size and weight it's definitely a keeper...

I play a Heritage 535 (ES335 type) made in Kalamanzoo on the original machines the Gibsons of the 50s were built on (so cut me the crap about Gibson). Heritage pickups capable of coil tapping and a sh*tload of other gimmicks. Second axe is a Fender Baja Classic Player Tele with custom shop pickups (also with cool S1 switching options).
Either straight into the amp or sometimes with a tad of volume boost provided by a RAT. Very basic stuff...
Even though I like the sound after modification if it were lost or stolen I'd look for an open back cab in the first place...

Just one word! Awesome!
I use this baby with a Koch KV50 (other than reviewed by someone else i am crazy about the sound!) and some effects.
my rig is as followed:
Guitar -> A/B switch ->
A -> EHX small clone -> Ibanez Flanger -> Koch KV50 pre- and poweramp
B -> Rocktron Gainiac-> Koch KV-50 Poweramp
Offcourse both circuits end in the 1965A.
I play mainly Nu-metal, but i like the little brighter sound from a 4x10". I tried the Koch KV50 through a 4x12" when i bought it, but i think it sounds MUCH better through my 4x10"!!

Since i bought this I don't like to gig without this thing. I would take this over my old Marshall 4X12 1960a anyday unless for some reason I needed a lot more volume. The 4x10 sounds better for what I play plus it is smaller, lighter, and fits perfectly in my car! It is pretty hard to find 4x10 slant cab of this high quality. Marshall didn't make many of these so if you stole mine, i'm sorry, but i'll have to k___ you.

I have three 4x12 cabs, one 2x12, and this guy all have Celestions. All of my amps sound better through this cab than through my 12" cabinets. Something going on there.
Since it's been discontinued a long time it's unlikely I'll find a straight face version, but I'll look.

This cab is amazing. I went to Gedde's Music in Antioch, California just checkin stuff out cuz I've never been there before. I was looking around andI saw this cab under an Ampeg head. I looked at it and realized it was a 4x10 guitar cab. I got all excited cuz that means I could get rid of my heavy ass (but nice sounding) Behringer 4x12. I looked at the price tag and it was only $200!!!
I brought my Behringer in and they traded straight across.
I took it home and plugged it into my Line 6 Flextone head, and it got the most amzing sound from it. After I sold the head I bought a Peavey Classic 50. Its a 4x10 combo, so now I'm running 8x10. The peavey sounds amazing through this cab. Wow, these speakers sound great. Nice warm vintage tone, plenty of bass, lots of cutting power. Not farty and loose like 4x12's.

I bought it used and I havent switched anything out. When I bought it, I took the back off to check out the speakers. They are in pristine condition. A little dusty but whatever.

If you find one, and dig that warm vintage sound with a focused and tight low end with a nice mid punch, grab this if you can. If you can find one under or around $200, get it immedietly. Just do it.

It is used with various preamps, both solid state and tube. Usually SS poweramps. Various rack effects units and some pedal effects.
It has a nice tight sound. Not as slopping or woofy as a 1960 type 4x12 cab. I think these speakers start to breakup at around 30-40 watts ever so slightly. I'm not a huge fan of speaker breakup, but I don't mind these too much. I loved the closed back sound, and how light the unit it.
Much more oomph than a 2x12 cab, and moves more air. Compared to a 4x12 it's more mid-rangey, and really helps to project my guitar tone. Plus I don't have to fight as much with the bass player for sonic realestate. He loves having a big more room to be heard. I sacrifice very little and my sound is still huge and loud. I use a stereo eq unit to tweak my sounds as per the venue. Sometimes, I punch up the bass and do a slight cut on the mids.

This is pretty important to working musicians. Only thing I would like better would to have a full range stereo cab this size.
But I am going to make a couple more cabs with eminence drivers for myself since the 4x10s are almost impossible to locate locally. I can find some over the net, but shipping charges make this endeavour kinda silly. Better to just order the cones and get some plywood and have a good summer weekend project.

It's a 4x10" 140 watt cabinet, with Celestion speakers. It originally came with an Mosfet Marshall stack. The Mosfet amp is a little smaller than the standard marshall amp, so it fits nicely on top of the cabinet. Not too many features though: one 8 ohm input, no stereo or ohm switches. Two handles on each side. Look like a small jcm900 1960 cabinet. Our drummer used to call it a 'dwarf's cabinet'...

Ok here's why I SOLD just two months after I bought it: it sounds too thin for my style! I play a Koch KV50 50 watt 3 channel top with a Ritchie Sambora Strat and a Nuno Bettencourt Washburn. I used it with my metal band, our style is simular to Slayer, Metallica, Nevermore, ect. so we need power. I compared this cabinet to an 1960 en the difference is enormous! This 1965a cabinet almost has no power, it just sounds so thin. There are no dynamics, and no real 'push' when you hit those powerchords. Just a lot of high en almost no low and mid. I was really disappointed, because when I tried it at home, it seem to sound good. But after comparing it with the old 1960 cabinet from a friend of mine, a was convinced to sell it. So if you play in a loud band and you play metal DON'T BUY THIS CABINET!!! If you play in a cover band however, I could be a nice cabinet, because of the neutral sound and the small size and low weight.

It's reliable, but that's about all. I really didn't like the sound, and I got the feeling that it was more suitable for bass-amps. No I wouldn't ever buy this cabinet again. If I'd buy a cabinet other than the standard 1960, I would buy one with Vintage 30 Celestion speakers, because of the warm sound.

First off, i have a Triple X with JJ tubes. I have tried many 4x12s and 2x12s but never even seen a 4x10 till i saw this one. i originaly went to this guys house to buy his 2x12 and i saw this in his room and asked him if he would let me try it out. it sounded ok with his ss marshall but i could tell it was a good cab. it has nice tight bass and the speakers break up very nicely. anyways i bought it off him and took it home. i pluged everything in and omg it was perfect for my amp. i had looked into a G-flex 2x12, a mesa 2x12 and a couple marshall 4x12's with G12T-75 speakers. the 2x12s sounded kind of farty in the bottom end. the 4x12's sounded great but were too big and the G12T-75s were a little too scooped sounding. this was light weight, much more punchy than the 2x12s, and had very very tight bottom end. seriously one of the best cheaper cabs i have ever played. if your going to spend 500+ on a cab then yeah dont try it out because im sure a good used 4x12 arround 500-600 will be better, but if your looking to spend under 500 its one of the best deals ive come accross and it was only 200 bux. best part is, its very light and fits in the back of my car!

one of the best cabs under 500 dollars. if your looking into 2x12's like i was please give a 4x10 cab a chance, they may look small but my god they kick ass. less farty than most 4x12's. great value and i plan on keeping it even if i get a better cab later on.

I use this cabinet with an ENGL RITCHIE BLACKMORE HEAD.The tone is perfect for my style of playing,(that would be the blues). The cleans are clear, chimey and can growl if pressed. The overdrive channel in my amp sounds just beautiful. The heavy gain channel is creamy and brite. The bass is tight but not at all any less loud than my 412 cab.I think I like this cab so much because the speakers break up so soon.Anyway ,if you find one give a listen.

I have been trying to find a good match for my ENGL head for a while now.I own the ENGL vintage cab loaded with vintage 30 speakers but dont like the midrange..I also tried a 212 greenback cab that sounds pretty good but not as good as the 410. I think the 410 has a better all around tone than the others. And you must know that there isnt a product that marshall has ever made that Ive liked, especially those overated silver jubilee things.

not sure what year it was made, i am assuming it is 6 to 7 years old. i like metal, hard rock and classic rock mainly and this thing is awesome for all of it. has four 10 inch speakers (celestions-8 ohm cab) and isn't as heavy as a 4 x 12 cabinet and is definetly more portable.

i love it. it is tight sounding and i find it full to my ears and not as loose as a 4 x 12 cabinet. did have to cut the bass a little do to the tightness of this thing. i find it focused and can cut through with no problem.

140W 4 x 10" mono speaker cabinet. Loaded with G10 35W speakers. Speakers are wired for 8 ohms. There is only one socket on the rear of the cab and that's it... still it's only a speaker cab. Handles seem a bit weak and the feet are tiny (not sure if they are original). Think i might search for some small castors instead of these "porn star nipple" feet. The cab is made from ply rather than nasty particle board. The overall build quality of the cab seems good with corner protectors and the usual marshall covering.

I use this cab with a Marshall AVT 150 Combo. I looked at using the dedicated cab for this amp (the AVT112 - 1 x 12") but i already had a 1936 cab (2X12" valve head sized cab), so i stuck with that. I've been using the amp with this 2 x 12 cab for a while, but i just wasn't happy with the way it looked rather than sounded. The 1965A sounds just fine to me and the mix of tens and a twelve in the amp is an interesting tone. All my other cabs are loaded with twelves, so it makes a refreshing change. Not quite as much bottom end as twelves, but it's more than enough for the style of music i play (seems to cut through the mix better too). If i was to criticise the cab, i would say it is a slighlty more brittle/sharp tone than that of a larger cab. If you using the cab with a valvestate head or cab (or solid state amp), i would say it's not worth fussing about, but if you are an "all valve" fan it may not be to your liking. Being an angled cab. the upper two tens seem to direct more of "your" sound towards your ears when gigging - can't be a bad thing!

The Celestions have behaved themselves and it's never let me down at a gig - still, not much to go wrong really. Look after your equipment and it'll (normally) look after you.

I won't be using Marshall's support for this cab as it's so old and if anything breaks, i'll fix it. I personally have never had problems with Marshall. They've always responded to my questions concerning other Marshall products quickly and professionally. This is only in my experience though. I've read a lot of other poor reviews submitted by people in other parts of the world. That's not good Marshall. Worldwide support could be improved I guess. Another point - is it me or is the Marshall website extremely slow? I've been on a few times and often give up browsing as it takes so long to load.

This cab is perfect for my requirements. Not too heavy to lug around, well built and gives my sound that extra dimension. AVT 100 AND 150 COMBO USERS TAKE NOTE. This cab is ideal for creating a mini half stack. The width of the cab is perfect, but the amp will hang over the back of the cab by 30mm or so (not a problem really). The feet on the bottom of the AVT need to be moved slightly to fit into the receivers on top of the cab, but this is an easy job. It might be worth putting an extra foot towards the rear of the amp in the middle to stop it rocking if you use it by itself on the floor. It doesn't rock, but it's just a precaution. The amp never really sat right on the top of the 1936 cab anyway. I'm pleased as punch with my purchase and i would recommend snapping one up if you can find one-they seem to be quite rare. E mail me if you want to know more.

I think everybody below me covered this section quite well.
Only change I would make to this cab is a selectable impedance. It's wired for 8 but it would be nice to flick a selector switch and have it ready to go at 4 or 16 ohms as well.

Do not like the sound too much. Its really brittle, and not all that fat sounding. I'm using a Marshall Jubilee 2553 into the cab, and a Fender Strat with a Seymour Duncan JB Jr. The original matching cab was purchased before I can get it with the Jubilee. But this cab is very brittle sounding.

It Sounds like the old 4x12s with a couple of Exceptions:
1. The bass response is less flabby due to the smaller speakers.
2. There is no edge yowl.
Now, I'm not saying there is no bass response in this cab-far from it. There is a little bit less but only because the low tones don't Fart out. BTW, this is the reason Ampeg put 10" speakers in those old SVT Cabs. Everything in the low end is loud but under control. After a couple of Years playing through a 2x12 I found this to be a VERY welcome change.
Also, for those of you who don't know, Edge Yowl happens when the speaker cone itself starts vibarting very unharmoniously. To make a long explanation short, The speakers in this cabinet don't have this problem.
So, When I cranked up my amps (Marshall Super Bass & Early '70s Sunn 60W} It just kept sounding Louder & Bigger up until my amps were either distorting or at Full-tilt Boogie and it didn't matter.
Bottom line: the speakers didn't crap out in any way, shape or form And there weren't any Weird resonances coming ot of the cab. Gets a thumbs-up in My Book

I checked out the inside of the Cab and found this:
Speakers: high Quality 35-Watt Celestions Bolted snugly to the Baffle.
Wiring: Solder joints were Well done and very neat At Speaker Terminals and Jack. Wires were Not overly Tight But Not so Loose they would interfere with speaker Function.
Debris: none in the Cab.
All of this points to Classic Marshall Quality and It should last quite awhile.

Under NO Circumstances Should YOU Purchase any of these!

I'm using a Les Paul with Duncan pickups, a Marshall tube pre-amp (9001) and the power amp from a JCM-900. I'm also running an active crossover that splits the frequencies sending the Mids and highs to the Marshall and the Lows to a 2x10 Carvin Bass cabinet. The cabinet sounds great but when the bass is turned up the sound starts to crap out. That's why I use the Carvin though. Has a very clear Mid-range and also works great with my Hot-rodded Strat. I like the "punch" this cabinet has.

Some of the screws that hold the back panel on have stripped out the thin wood this cabinet is constructed of. So therefore it rattles when it's turned up. Eventually I'll fix it by filling in the hole and re-drilling it. Also the plastic corner panels are starting to crack. Oh well, I use it on a regular basis so it's just normal wear and tear.

I bought this because I liked the sound of my dad's 1960 4x12 with my amp. This cabinet is great but the construction is better on the bigger version. I also bought it over a 4x12 valvestate because I hate the Gold back speakers. The sound too small and crappy. For a clean sound I use a Fender Pro-reverb.
