Features : No Opinion
It is a 112 cabinet...

Sound Quality : 10
11. I was always intrigued by the Marshall 1974X, but I wouldn't get one because it is too loud for me (with no master volume, that is).
Also I was always in love with that cabinet, except I didn't have any use for it really. And I thought 600??? for a 112 cabinet is pretty steep. But I just got a Stephenson Stagehog and gave it a try with the 1974 Cabinet: It just could't get any better. Actually I liked staghog+cab better than the 1974 combo, for several reasons: 1) because I can get distortion without the need to wear earplugs
2) because the stagehog is a frickin great amp and last but not least
3) I guess 80% of the sound of a combo depend on the speaker, and this one is a very special one (being 'aged' and all).

Anything I play from jazz, blues, country, funk, rock to heavy sounds awesome to my ears- distinct, warm, rich, alive, natural and transparent. From smooth clean tones over crunch tones to screaming lead sounds and evrything in between. Everything sounds just the way I think it should.

Reliability : 10
It should last- I can't see what could go wrong. It is well crafted, but it is not overly heavy.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have no experience with Marshall customer support.

Overall Rating : 10
Another 11. For british vintage tube sound, a 112 can't possibly get any better, according to my taste. The sound, the looks- and it is not too heavy. I think it is a lot of money, but it is definetely worth it. If you have ever thought about getting this cabinet (be it as an extension or as a single 112 cab for a head), it was for a reason. I can highly recommend it.

Made in 2007. 1x12 aged geenback speaker. Lovely looking cab, a classic!

Sound Quality : 10
I'm using the cab with a Fargen Mini Plex Mark II. I first tested out my Fargen on a 4x12 rectifier cab. I love this cab, and was certain that it would work great with the Fargen. Not so. The Mini Pleax is 12 watts and needed something else. The combination of the Mini Plex and the CX was amazing. 1974cx is by far the best cabinet I have ever heard. It has that lovely woody complexity that is so important when you are recording. When I fired it up at a gig, next to my friend's 2x12 Marshall cab, his jaw dropped. His cab sounded harsh and thin in comparison.

Reliability : 10
It's a small handbuilt cab. can't see anything going wrong...

Bought it over the internet.

Overall Rating : 10
I currently use a tele, a strat end a Les paul. My amps are the Mini Plex a Mesa Boogie F30 and Bad Cat Hotcat. I would certainly buy it again, although it is very expensive.

same aged celestion in this as the 1974X combo.
same construction as the combo.
basically its the combo without the amp part!!!
duh..

identical dimensions, so order another marshall cover for the 1974x and it will cover the cab.

Sound Quality : 10
the sound you get from the 1x12 1974x combo is excellent, and adding this cab gives a huge, broader, deeper aspect to the tone.

it also looks pretty sweet, as an 18W stack!!

if you get this cab, then in the box with the combo there will be longer feet, which you need to put on the combo, so it clears the handle on the cab...

Reliability : 10
as for reliability, not really much to malfunction in the cab..

Customer Support : No Opinion
i noticed the cabs speaker had a scratch on the label on the green magnet cover, so marshall got celestion to send me a new sticker.
sweet!!

Overall Rating : No Opinion
i use the cab with the combo, and its excellent.
i added a cab to my tsl122 100w combo, and the difference was nowhere near as noticable as the difference with this 18w combo and cab??

Made in 2004, sounds like 1964. 1x12". Features the same aged handwired Celestion 12 as in the 1974x Combo. Open back cabinet (they did these so the musician, standing behind the 'stack' could hear what he was playing according to Marshall). Solid unflawed birch constrution. Matches the combo in dimension, grill, etc. Perfect at what it is. Due to the excellence of components used, a 10 for features because they are the right features.

Sound Quality : 10
As perfect as my combo is on its own (see a good review at http://guitaramplifiermagazine.com/pub/currentzza/marshall-18-2.htm ), in tandem with the cabinet it is even better -- running the cab 1x12" and the combo's 1x12". Distorts beautifully at higher volumes. Adds spank to the sparkle that one speaker alone cannot produce. Sounds awesome.

Reliability : 10
Only a month old, but seems built like a tank.

Customer Support : 10
Marshall was very prompt about answering questions through the dealer. Their authorized dealer, Gig Sounds in South London, was excellent. Brian always got the answers and got back to me very quickly.

Overall Rating : 10
If you have a 1974x, demo this cabinet. I guarantee that you will take one home. The little stack looks as beautiful as it sounds. Anyone who needs a 12" open back for recording should consider this too. A great little cabinet. I honestly love everything about it.
