2x12 in a smaller Marshall slant cab. Gorgeous to look at. Looks like a smaller 1960 cab.

I was looking for a smaller cab for my Peavey Classic 50 head. I always had Marshall amps in the past, and when I saw this little baby, I couldn't resist. What a looker.

The sound of the celestion 30w are right on the money. I was about to sell my Roland ready Strat (which is brighter than a US american serie), because of the lack of bottom. This little cab gave my Strat a new life. Beautiful sound, very deep lows on the 6th string. More important, very well balanced. I use to own a Fender Hot rod Deluxe and always found that the lows are accentuated excessively. This cab is more linear in the balance between lows and highs. I compared with a 4x12 1960 cab (4 celestions 75 w I believe) which had more bottom , more lows, but too aggressive for my taste. I much prefered the 2061Cx. Sometime, less is more. The clean sound with the Peavey is between a Marshall and a Fender, reminescent of Castle made of sand from Jimi. I also tried my Telecaster Deluxe with similar results. Humbuckers (Steinberger GL2, ang Guild Bluesbird) sound very Classic, like old cream, Zeppelin.

I am a schooled musician and have been playing for the last 38 years. I have a small garage band (Joe Jackson, Hendrix, Cream, Classic rock), and I was looking for this type of sound. Marshall cabs give more meat to your clean sound and beautiful lows. The speakers in this little beauty are very musical and sound gorgeous even when you play Jazz in them. Can't wait to try it with the band. A good amp is an amp that is balanced; too many manufacturers push the lows too much to impress younger crowd. With time, you ralize that too much bass is not so great in a band context. The guitar will sound bad in the mix. The compbination of the Classic 50 ( Joe Satriani used it as a basis for the Peavey JSX I believe) and the 2061CX is wonderful.

One 8 Ohms input jack....which is sufficient as long as the design works. No cheap mono/stereo switches to kill the tone !
Will swallow 60W of power. Design is like a baby 4x12" utilizing bigger volume than regular 2x12" cabs, with perhaps a smaller footprint, still.
The cab seems very solidly built and looks classic and gorgeous !

Sound Quality : 10
After hooking up with a Jackson RR1 thru a Boss GT-8 and THD Flexi 50 (with tube-booster on) big rich, woody and warm tones left the speaker immediately. Ambience, bass and dispersion were excellent. Closing my eyes, I could actually mistake the sound to come from a good 4x12". Sound could perhaps best be described like a warm mellow and big greenback mid with G12H bottoms. The treble was very pleasant to the ear and the tones was given great focus.

The secret of this cabinet`s outstanding qualities emerges from great cab construction and special drivers (what you actally pay for), rather than just being handwired.
This cab could be definitely used for multiple music styles because of its warmth and great sound in general.

Impossible to tell! (I`ll do a follow up every 10 years.)

No trouble yet.

Been playing 15 years. I use the Marshall 1959 HW head from same series and the 1960HW/B cab. (This is the stuff to have from Marshall these days !) I also use a Diezel Herbert head, a THD Flexi and Bivalve head and a Mesa Boogie 395 rackmount amp, which I probably will sell for decent cash just because the Diezel is so damn good.
I liked the 2061CX cab so much that I ordered my second today, so I`ll of course replace them if stolen. It is not cheap, but the cab sounds and work and look 100% to my liking, besides I can carry it by myself !

Well I saw no review on this cabinet so I thought id be the 1st since I just got one today. It is the "Handwired" 2x12 cabinet that they made for the 2061X 20watt Lead&Bass head. Now I realize the "handwired" part for a cab is kinda dumb..i mean its like 4 solder joints involved..and i cant imagine a robot wires other cabinets. Ok let me say right off the bat the retail price on this cabinet is retarded. $800 for a 2x12!! For that price it sould be made from the wood from Noahs Ark or something. I got mine as "B Stock" and paid $640 which I still feel is alot for a 2x12. That said, it is one coolass cabinet. I saw the picture of one and HAD to have it. For me --especially with a herniated disk in my back -- a 4X12 is OUT. And frankly for me overkill anyway. If you dig the vintage Marshall Vibe its too cool. Its basically a "baby basketweave" like a mini late 60's 4x12. I has no dumb looking plastic corners..small gold logo..salt&pepper basketweave grillcloth and metal handles. Too cool. It has a real ply back..not chipboard..and 2 G12H 30 Watt speakers..one of celestions best new products..next to the alnico blues. If you --like me LOVE the look of it and wanted to have a project you could buy a cheap 1966A cabinet..retolex and grill it..put on metal handles..make a ply back and put in G12H's and youd have the same cab. But thats a big pain in the @ss. My guess is this cab will probably be quite collectible in years to come..cuz not many people will pay that crazy retail price for one. Ive seen several of the heads used but never a used cab for sale. it is 25hx25wx12d. It weighs 50lbs. It is 12'' deep rather than 14" depth of the 4x12's..thats the one thing i wish they had kept the same as the 4x12..bet it would be monsterous for a 2x12 if it were 14'' deep. That would have also really set it apart from the relatively cheap --used price-- of the 1966A. I give it a 10 on features cuz what features do ya need in a cabinet. And its looks are the cats pajamas. Im old school..i dont want some crazy quad stereo input on a cabinet. 1 jack and ready for take off.

Sound Quality : 9
I play kinda heavy blues style..but i like a more agressive sound than a traditional blues player. I guess im more toward the Slash, Gary Moore end of the spectrum. I have pretty pro-level equipment so its hard for most cabs to sound "bad". I have Budda Superdrive 30 Head, a Gibson '59 Historic Flametop, a Fender Voodoo Strat, and a 1962 Fender Deluxe. I dont play out or anything so i cant say what it will sound like in band environment..but my guess is it would be PERFECT for a small club. It sounds tight and has good bottom for a 2x12. Its a bit stiff sounding still but i just got it today..my other broken in G12H cab is a bit warmer but that is probably because the speakers are well broken in --yes that DOES make a difference--. I see alotta reviews here on stuff id deem crappy equipment and people give 10's. I think this cab sounds REALLY good and looks awesome..so I'll give it a 9 cuz i dont give 10's on sound unless I hear god! Maybe with some pre-rola speakers id go 10 but for now 9 seems fair. Im really one the fence about selling my Superdrive 30 --which sounds really good and has some nice features in a master and channel switch -- and gettin the matching head. The retail price on the head is crazy too --like $1700--..especially for a little 20watt head with a pretty simple circuit. But that IS where handwired would matter..and they do sound cool and the head and cab together has the ultimate "Baby Plexi" vibe in look and sound. Fortunately I have a friend where i can get it at dealer cost if I go that route.
