Picked this one up at local guitar shop about a year ago. It's red and looks pretty good. Not sure of the year exactly. 2x12 50w with 2 Greenbacks. 4 Inputs.

I play a custom shop 69' Reissue Stratocaster through a RMC wah, Uni-Vibe, and Arbiter Fuzz. My two main amps are a 1969 Superlead with modern 1960ax cab and a Bogner Shiva 2x12 w/o reverb. I picked this amp up for a good price and it sounded fine in the store. I was planning to use it for a recording/practice amp. However, I haven't been that impressed with the tone. Loud, but overall pretty fussy, hard to dial in the solid Marshall tones I can get in 1 second on my Super lead. Something about these Greenbacks I don't like. Not sure what the deal is but I think Marshall missed on this guy.

This is another issue, broke down after about 1 month of use. Took it to my local amp-whiz in London. A couple hundred later, he thinks Marshall designed these amps weird so they are pretty subject to breaking down. Maybe that's why they only made them for a few years?

Overall I don't mind this amp, but I've been thinking about trading it in for something different. I was looking for a decent Marshall tone in a small box, but this thing just doesn't do it for me.

This amp is a rare one and so far the first one here.
How rare? I belive it's 1 out of 5.
The amp is from 1978. The book of Marshall says it's called 2187 and not many were made.
It's the 50 watt version of 2150. 2 25 watt greenback speakers
It's 4 inputs with mastervolume (factory!) and and effectsloop(added) in the 2 of the inputs. Precense, Bass, middle, treble, Master Vol and Gain
Condition is 6 out of 10. The tolex is ripped but otherwise original.
Now the rare thing is that this amp was used by Thin Lizzy!
I've found out that Scott Gorham used 5 of these with the mastervolume. A 2187 does not have a Mastervolume and in the book it's the only Marshall that fit's the bill.
In live at Sydney there are a few and maybe mine is there.
Could have been used in studio. Was told used backstage.

On low it's very lovely vintage clean Marshall regardless of the volume setting!
That's how I used it and a friend who borrowed it for a very long time. With a few pedals here and there.
I've tried the High and that's were the distortion is (and drive).
It's 50 watt so it's more easy to drive and the Thin Lizzy sounds are there. Just ad a Les Paul.
Otherwise just a killer sounding Marshall. Clean/rock/blues it's got that and more.

This one has seen alot of gigs and studio use since I've bought it in London summer 2000.
Has never broken down. Has a slight problem when using the highgain master vol. over 5 and gain on at least 7
That's pushing it. Are being serviced at the moment

Overall
Very handy amp! If I lost it then it would be very sad.
It does not weigh much. Very small in size so fitting it into a van that's packed or a small car etc. It's half a Valvstate!
Studio, stage whatever I belive it's the most easy Marshall ever to deal with when it's 50 watt. Transport or sounds. It has always surprised me in a way.
