This was made in the 1970s! It is LOUD! so loud in fact i had to get in a power break and pull two tubes.
This amp is perfect for Jazz, early Blues, Rock N Roll ect (clean)
This amp is perfect for Blues (later stuff), classic Rock, Indie, Punk and so on. It gets a similar amount of gain as a marshall plexi but sounds nothing like it! in a fabulous way, this baby is unique there aint nothing like a matamp....maybe an old orange but not as bright.
For any one who loves 50s,60s and 70s music this is ideal also any one who likes indie music will not be disapointed. As long as you dont play uber death hardcore math thrash metal then youll be fine.
No head phone jack but you could get a little amp for that...if you have a matamp playing through headphones wont do it justice, get a cab....
It has an FX loop called echo return and send because thats all those guys used in them days but it works just the same. It has a bass and treble pot that when you turn them down the mid is pushed, a presence control that boosts mids too and a bass boost knob that allows you to get a really warm sound out of the amp with out getting muddy and boomy.
This amp is for giging and loud rehersals and even then i attenuate it slightly. the trick is to get the sound you want, take away the volume using the attenuator first. a 50/50 mix between the master vol and the attenuator is about right.
The amp is as versitle as the over drive pedal you put in front of it. while it can get a range of tones using a booster is best to control the gain

I use an american strat (stock) which suits me perfectly as all my heroes use them, Hendrix, Gilmour,Ted Turner, Laurie Wisefield, Hank Marvin, Ronnie Wood, Jeff Beck and you can get it to sound like other people too.
The amps not too noisy but then again i do use a strat with a couple of pedals.....
This cannnot be stressed enough....This amp is TONAL NIRVANA! Better than marshall plexis and more unique, this amp is underrated alot.

Jeff at matamp is a saint.
Best customer support ever, you can just wander in and try any thing and walk back out but youll go crawling back because this sound is addictive.
