This head is serial no 001. one of only 2 re-issues made. Finished in black leather. Features are a 10 for me, but may not be suitable for others. Single channel, switchable between 2xEL34 or 2xKT88 power tubes. Hi/lo input, reverb. Slow start up feature.

With my G&L ASAT classic this amp sounds awesome. Really clear notes, even when cranked. Hitting that bottom E chord on a tele will twang your pants off! I always used to associate bassy with mushy, not on this amp! Lovely and warm sounding. I'm running it through a matching 2x12 cab at the mo. This amp is so responsive, if you play softly with your fingers it comes out nice and soft, not like other expensive amps I've had which are an all or nothing sound. The series 2000 was the amp Peter Green famously recorded Albatross on, if that's what you're after you won't be dissapointed but it does so much more. BB King, to Stevie, to Mr. Page, this amp makes you put more into your playing cos you get more out. I got lost in the reverb, it was like the wardrobe leading to Narnia!

Only had it a few days and haven't had a chance to gig with it yet, but it's very solid and came in a flightcase (which by the way, matamp uk sell on to the customer for no profit and are solid as a rock). Look at the website, they use top quality parts and this is all lovingly hand-made. Very confident in this amp outliving me (I'm only 25).

I only put 10 cos it doesn't go any higher, seriously. I phoned Jeff, well funny bloke, would do anything for you, chatted for about an hour, they'll tweak it for you, change it, swap it, do anything, they don't like unhappy customers and I don't think they've ever had one. Really really helpful, I wish matamp made cars!

Have been playing for 12 years, have owned all the usual amps, this one really stands out. If you're toying with the idea of a matamp, phone them up, I guarantee you'll have placed an order before you put the phone down. Factory direct in UK, please don't associate low prices with inferior gear, this would cost proper money if it went through middle men and music shops, as it is you're getting top quality equipment which should last you forever for not a lot of money. I've already ordered my C7 (7 watt single end head). Any questions please email me

having owned this for a year or so now, and played in a band setting with it, including other instruments like keys & xylophone, i'll say this thing OWNS. even with a 5 string bassplayer in the mix, this thing sounds full. you can hear every note even with the gain dimed. you can hear the color an individual pedal adds, and guitars retain their individual character, but still get that nice tone from the amp as well.
i've also improved my playing because i can hear every note all the time now. i went in to GC to play around and could barely stand any of the amps in store... too mushy and lacking in low end.
all in all, its not the "usual" amp sound but i cant hear myself using anything else.

amp was made 2002, i believe. i bought it used from matamp so im not entirely certain. it has two inputs. the first one has a pre amp boost and a bass boost before the eq and such; with both boosts cranked it sounds almost big muff, but with more "conservative" settings its super thick overdrive. the second input has gain, bass, treble, presence, master. at low volumes this input gets a jazzy clean sound to mild overdrive, and cranking the master yields a thick foggyness. i give it such a lower number because it isnt footswitchable, just one channle and for some thats a problem. i dont care, it sounds awesome to my ears in either channel.

i play a Gibson SG junior (p-90 pickup). i have been plugging straight in, but it handles effects excellently too. i like a very bass heavy rock sound, and i generally play a range of things from 'rock' to 'emo' i guess. like Recover, Sparta, JEW, QOTSA, and Refused. this amp works for me, but some might not like the lack of mid control.
with the gain and pre amp boost cranked, theres a bit of noise coming through from my singlecoil, but it isnt bad or detracting.
this amp has a foggy, thick sound. it gets its own Matamp/Orange tones, and can sound like vintage marshall and vox. the 'clean' input stays very clean with the gain backed off a bit and the master around 4-5, but after that im sure it starts to break up. i wouldnt say its "distorted" exactly, its much more of a super thick, low end thumping monster overdrive.

ive only had it for a week, playing it like 4 hours a day. so i cant comment on reliability. but it made it through Seatac air cargo in just a cardboard box and sounds great.

when i bought it, i contacted Joel via email. he answered all my questions quickly, and even worked with my crappy schedule about shipping it out so i could pick it up. he even called me personally about it, very cool.

ive been playing for 5 years, i own a Gibson SG junior, Vantage avenger, Ibanez strat copy, Boss me-30, yamaha g50-112, hartke b30, and a tiny ibanez practice amp. if it were stolen, id go through all means to get it back. i love it, its green, sounds awesome. i kind of wish it had a mid control, i guess, but i have an eq in the me-30 if i need it anyway. i chose this because of the matamp sound. oh, the cab with it is huge. get casters. heh. i guess this amp is a certain sound, it rocks, but dont expect some metal beast or anything.
