8 - This amp has all the features I need to get unbeatable tone for different styles of music. I connect the effects loop to a Jim Dunlop univibe which gives the amp a bit more sustain. selectable impedance output is very nice for using with different cabinets. Built in reverb sounds great without changing the tonal character. It has 1 channel and is capable of any sound, though you can't access these sounds intantly. Volume, Master, Mid, treble, bass, reverb, and brilliance controls work together to give the most luscious clean to a full spectrum of overdriven tones. I wish it could channel switch but I understand that feature would compromise the sonic integrity of the amp. I use this amp with my blues/rock band in medium to larger venues. It is more than enough power for most any application. Class A, point to point.

The sound is unbelievably good-beats all the Fenders and other Matchless' I have had. I use a Fender American Strat, G&L ASAT classic, and an Epiphone 335 hollow body. I have used PRS in the past. This amp makes almost any guitar sound awesome. It suits blues, rock, Jazz, classic & modern rock very well. The amp is not noisy. It produces a wide variet of tones. The reverb is nice-It sounds very Rolling Stones, but it is not a Fender or surfy sounding reverb. The clean channel will stay clean if you turn the Master up. By turning it down, you can overdrive the amp with the reg volume. The distortion is rich. Metal heads will want a pedal however.

I have been playing seriously for 12 years. It beats the 2 HC 30's, Brave, and Fender Vibrosonic-all special amps I have owned, in fullness, headroom, versatility, and richness. I would buy one again if it were stolen. I love the sound. I hate that it is so heavy. It is comparable to other Matchless products but has supreme headroom and more versatility. This is the King.

this amp was made in 1997. I bought it new/used that is it was new but had been used (it has a few scuff marks). This amp is one channel and straight up. All tube. This is a 100 watt head through a 4-10 matchless cab.

I have played both single coil and hummers through this and both sound absolutely wonderful. No noise from the amp other than a very light hum (cranked). It does clean and distortion very well but needs a box if you want metal. Very wide range and sweet. This is the best amp I have ever owned and I have owned marshalls, fenders, boogies, and others. I have also owned other matchless amps in the past and all were great but this one is really special. A perfect 10 I'd say for my ears!

Well, as we all know matchless is out of business so can't ding em on this one. This amy hasn't needed anything other than a set of tubes! It speaks for itself.

Again, they are not around but the amp is so well made I can't imagine it will break. maybe a tube replacement but that's about it. Can't ding it for that.

I have been playing a long time and have played a lot of different amps and guitars. Some are good and some are great but this amp is awsome.I would certainly get another if I lost this one (I would sure have to pay a lot for it) so I hope this one doesn't get stolen! It would still be a great value though as there are no more of these very special amps being made. Don't know how many were made but probably not a whole lot of em!
