This is a one channel, stripped down head. The cabinet underneath is loaded with one 12" Celestion Vintage 30, reworked by Matchless. Effects loop and speaker inputs grace the back panel. The front panel has 2 inputs, volume, 3 eq controls, and master volume. As with other Matchless amps it uses Class A, all tube circuitry.

As it is a single channel amp, versatility is not its forte. It does have more gain than other models by the manufacturer and gets a fat, steely distortion. Adjusting the brilliance control is necessary to control the tone from a more midrangey compression to a bright aggression. Clean sounds on this amp come from reducing the guitar's volume, a welcome simplicity.
