Very simple set up. Volume, one tone and master. It has two controls for the Tremelo which sounds very good but is not footswitchable. This obviously limits it's usefulness.

This amp is the same as the Spitfire with added tremelo. It has the small box cabinet which makes it very portable plus, I believe, contributes to it's great sound. I mostly play a '95 Hamer Studio Archtop and a '92 Anderson Strat w/ Fralins. This fantastic amp just shines with either guitar. From my experiance Matchless amps sound best at 8 ohms, master volume all the way up and the pre amp volume just beyond crunch. Switching between pick-ups and adjusting your attack will give you many shades of the amp's basic sound which is jaw-dropping for players who want beautiful clean tones through overdriven crunch. This is not a high gain amp and should not be reviewed as one. I have sampled many OD pedals and to my ears the amp sounds better without them. Just turn it up a little more, adjust your guitar volume and attack and will find it's all right there at your finger tips. Use good tubes, it makes a difference! It's pretty loud for 15 watts and should work for most band situations.

I honestly love these 15 watt Matchless Amps. They are super dependable, great sounding and louder than you might think. Currently, I am amp switching
between this small bow Hurricane and a small box Lightning I bought new in '94. I have all I need with these 2 amps. Use good tubes and enjoy!
