Brand new 2009 Model, very simple design. Single 12" G12H 30 watt speaker. Volume, Tone, Master, Line out, Speaker out with Rotary 4,8,16 ohm option. 6 watts All tube EL84, 12Ax7 & 5AR4 Rectifier tube. Single Channel. I use this amp for live mic'd situations, and it is perfectly loud and the tone is amazing. It's a 10 for how small the amp is, they couldn't put more things in the chassis.

Sound Quality : 10
I am playing a Tom Anderson Atom w/dual humbuckers. I play mostly rock sound, a little bit of clean tone and a lot of overdrive tone via my secret array of pedals. The Amps clean tone is awesome, even cranked all the way up, there is no break up and no added noise. The amps sounds great with all my pedals and very touch sensitive, I don't even need a boost pedal for my solos, I just play harder and it gets louder. It sounds way louder than 6 watts. The Matchless tone is unbelievable. The tone is very warm and can get pretty bright if you turn the tone knob up, which does not really affect the bass, but the entire volume of the amp, it is a very interactive tone control. There is the perfect amount of bass in it. This amp is perfect for rock/pop, country, jazz. This is pure clean class A Matchless tube tone at it's best. 6 watts is plenty loud, unless you play for 5000+ people on a regular basis, you will not need anything louder. If you are looking for amp distortion, check out the little monster if you can find one, that amp is meant to do that. You have to use pedals to get your overdrive/distortion.

Reliability : 10
The amp is built like a tank, Matchless is very good quality and stands behind their 6 year warranty. They answer the phone when you call and are very helpful. I would maybe carry an extra power tube, but that is all. That is the beauty behind this amp, only 3 tubes to change, and nothing fancy to break.

I have been playing for 15 years or more now. I play semi-pro (have a paying job and do pro music with a very good artist on the side) I have owned Fender, Trace Elliot, Top Hat, THD, Bad Cat, Mesa Boogie Tried Digital and hated it, but always come back to simplistic tube tone. I currently own and play through the Matchless paired next to a THD univalve running at the same time. I also have a Music Man amp that is a work horse and pretty reliable just not a tube amp. The tone that I get with the Matchless is amazing, and with the THD it makes it even more cool. It's like play through a tiny vox on steroids and a tiny marshall at the same time. I highly recommend anything Matchless makes. They are a great company and hope to add more Matchless items to my arsenal.
