Let's see EL84 based amp. Bunch of 12AX7's. BIG Torroidal Tranny and a regular tranny ... A single 8 Ohm out.
Two input Mic / Inst with a jumpered Volume control 1 control for Mic 1 control for Vol, but both affect each other on the final output.
1 Tone knob (Push Pull). Sag knob, Wattage knob (1-20 Watts) On/Off and a Standby.
This amp has excellent features!
I think the one perhaps unfortunate thing, you can't switch to different power tubes like 6V6 or KT's or 6L6's .. bummer!

This amp can sound like many different things. For the time being I am playing this through a 1x10 detuned Cab made by Mad Sound (these are incredible)
Well I never liked EL84 based amps, but this amp totally changed my mind. It sounds amazing. Has super crisp clean of many different variety, can be a Fender clean or a Vox clean or .. you name it clean. It can also get down and dirty and nasty. I wouldn't say it goes into Metal but it shreds major for sure and all that can be contained to decent volume levels with the Wattage adjustment.
(Besides it is 20 Watts it wont blow away your home)
The Sag control is very subtle really has to do with adjusting the power from pick attack and has the ability to "color" your guitar play nicely but very subtle.
Just to compare, I have a no frills Auble 2 Watter. This is a great amp to give you the straight up sound of what you are playing. The Zeeta though does 1 or 2 or 10 steps better then that by being able to color your sound in various ways pending on your settings.

As far as I can tell this head will last a life time.

I did email David and he's prompt and gives some good info.
The documentation that came with the amp had some nice settings on it that work great on the amp. So far awesome!

Amp is truly a work of art. Not that it looks majorly prettier then other amp heads. My Auble in the Mad sound enclosure sure looks better I feel. But the sound is amazing!
Maven Peal (David) makes just amazing sounding amps that .. is the bottom line. (Not cheap .. but for the sound I feel it is worth it)

This amp is deceptively simple. It is a 2-EL84 "Deluxe." But the ability to change the overall wattage and power supply of saturation of the amp make it a Deluxe on steroids. Why the Deluxe comparison? Well after I got the Zeeta, I felt willing to sell my Victoria Deluxe. An early one with NOS tubes, over-sized transformer and MoJoTone speaker. In other words this is a sweet sounding amp with controls like a deluxe, early break-up (if you so desire) thanks to the wattage control and the EL84 and an extra bit of thickness (again, I guess via the EL84s). It's suprisingly load and yet cleans up nice with the guitar volume down. I've had and still have lots of great amps, but this one will be one of the last to go if I have to sell them. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but an amazing amount of simply manipulated variety of tone and feel. This is the high end model with the more expensive caps and power chord. I don;t know how it compares to the plain vanilla models. I doubt it is that much different

This can be a very "fat" sounding amp and it and a bit of tube thickness to single coils (like my Victoria deluxe, did). It overdrives easily with humbuckers and a nice Les Paul (with burstbuckers) just really sings through this thing. I use it through a 4-10 8 ohm kendrick cab with backframes. It keeps it on the Fenderish side even with the EL84s. That cab is responsive (it is an instrument in itself, just ask Gerald Weber) so between the two units you get a lot of "feel" and "response." Very gratifying to play. I also have an 8 ohm 4-10 Eminence Alnico cab and a 4010 naylor cab. The amp sounds great and a little different through all of them. The Naylor makes it sort of Marshally mid-rangey and the Alnico 10s just melt in your mouth, hot and thick.
Another comparison I'd like to make is to my Mojave Coyote. I felt I could sell that when I got this, too. I know, it is more of an EL84 plexi than a deluxe. But the Zeeta is right in the middle between the deluxe and the sort of JTM45 sound. But with complete control over the volume and power supply saturation (sag). It just sound and feels right!

The Zeeta is industrial strength!. Warren haynes uses one and he is sort of on the over achiever list in terms of playing time and productivity. It obviously holds up in a gigging situation. David Zimmerman of maven peal puts a little bit of himself in every amp he builds and it shows! His target maket is the gigging musician who wants the best.

I am writing this review very late in the Zeeta's product life-cycle. I got one of the last to be built. Dave Zimmerman actually killed the product when he went to work on his other Baby ---> the Ganesha. But, you don't have to sweat it. Dave is again making the Zeeta. He's taken all the tweeks from the original products lifespan and targeted a more affordable product with the same great specs and capabilities. Sometimes it pays to be late to the party!
