My Boogie was made in the late eighties, early nineties.
This .50 is the love of mu life, specially the loudness coming out of this relatively small combo is surprisingly good.
I bought it in Holland, where you don't see them quite often, what is a shame, since it sounds incredible!!!!
Featured with 6L6 tubes it does everything with sounds that I need.
I mostly play blues, and deep fat soloing on this machine is a real pleasure. It's got two channels, rythem and lead, there's a footswitch included.

Sound Quality : 9
I play a handmade mahogany guitar, with EMG "lukather" pick ups.
It's not noisy at all, and the clean rythem channel stays clean till somewhere round 7 or 8.
The lead is a robust and heavy one when you turn up the gain(clean volume), and a nice crunchy one when you keep it low.
Precense does a lot with the amp, from deep till sparkly, and also the chromatic tuner can help you with some more mid in your lead stuff.

Reliability : 9
No strange breaking down or malfunction, just change the tubes every 6/7 months, and it rocks.

Customer Support : No Opinion

I've been playing now for 8 years and also own a Fender 75, all tube combo. I use a Boogie 2 x 12 cabinet and a Hughes and Kettner lead pedal, together with a Tubescreamer.
If it was stolen I would hunt the guy who stole it down, kill him and steel it back, no matter what!!!!
I compared it to the new Marshall Valvestate's, and the pressure in theswe Marshall's was so much less than the Boogie in front of me, pretty nice since the Marshall Valvestate 2000 is a 2 x 12 combo!!!
BUY THIS THING IF YOU SEE ONE!!!!!

This amp is versital enough, I mainly use the lead channel, as I play mostly heavier music ( Sabbath, C.O.C. Acid Bath, D.R.I. etc.) It's got two channels, clean and lead.If you have the lead channel set for all out gain ,then you can forget the clean channel to be clean. This amp has a 5 band e.q. and sounds like total dogs**t when the eq is off. Contrary to other reviews, this is not a loud amp. In fact it is not really 50 watts, It is more like 35 if you don't believe me try keeping up with a Marshall 50 watt plexi. Heck even my 1971 Traynor Custom Reverb non master volume (rated at 45 watts) totaly burys the boogie. If you still don't believe me look at the size of the Transformer, it is the size of a small childs fist, now look at a Fender or Marshall 50 watt transformer and you'll see a definate differance in size. I give this rating a 5 cause Boogie just out and out lied about the wattage.

Sound Quality : 8
I use a Mockingbird with an EMG 81 and it works well for my style. The distortion is pretty good (you don't need a distortion pedal) It is noisy if you have the gain and treble up high or the treble slider up all the way on the eq. The clean channel sounds good if you like AC/DC's tone (if you have the gain high on the lead channel, because the two channels have shared volume and eq controls)

Reliability : 10
I never have had a problem with it.

I have talked to them about tubes and such and they are friendly. But other than that I haven't really needed them.

I just could'nt take getting drowned out by guys with 100 watt amps, so I bought a dual rectifier. If it were stolen I would not buy another 50 cal. I have been playing for 16 years and this is definately better than a Solid State amp and is louder than a 100 watt ss type amp, but if volume is your game like mine( think Motorhead loud) than this ain't the answer. The gain is great the clean is so so.
