Pretty simple...a nicely finished cabinet with a 12" speaker and dual 1/4" jacks. It's pretty big, though! The 1x12" is a little bigger than many 1x12" combo amps, more like the size of a 2x12", though still very transportable.

I was looking for a smaller alternative to my Marshall 1960A 4x12. This cab really does the trick! Matched with my Rect-o-Verb head, the sound is really big...thicker than what you'd expect from a 1x12 cab. I find it still has a great low-end "woof" like the 4x12, but it also has a really pleasant midrange and shimmery highs. Of course, much of this comes from the Rect-o-Verb itself, but the speaker seems to be a perfect match. I have a DC-5 combo with the same exact speaker, though a somewhat smaller enclosure. Just for fun, I ran the output from my ROV into the DC-5's speaker. I then set it up with the ROV into this 1x12 cab for comparison. Both sounded very good, but the 1x12" cab edged out the DC with a little bigger bottom and a little more 3-D feel. All around, a great-sounding cabinet with a bigger sound than you might expect!

Highly impressed! I'm thinking of buying a second matching cab and having a midget-sized full stack with a huge sound from only 2 12" speakers! Then again, I guess I can just use the Marshall cab...

I bought this new in 2003. Up until then my main cab was an old music man 1x15 (for guitar not bass, one of the original leo fender music man designs) paired with a sunn model t reissue. I loved the tone and wide sound I got with that 15" cabinet (15" speakers are much less beamy than 12"s), but I started playing with another guitarist, so I needed a new cab with more presence so I could compete against his Mesa Dual Recto and 4x12. I didn't much like the mesa black shadow speaker, midrange was a little harsh and I missed the low end of my 15" cab. I replaced the black shadow with a vintage EVM12L and I haven't changed a thing in two years. I've used this cab with my Sunn Model T, Hiwatt DR504, and Fender Pro Junior. For small shows I'll use the Pro Junior and combine the internal 10" with the 3/4 back and it sounds fantastic. For huge shows I stack the 1x12 on top of the 1x15 and it keeps up with any 4x12 (and stands 5 feet tall). I plan of buying a few more of these, each with a different 12" speaker for the ultimate in speaker options when I'm in the studio.

I love this cabinet. It's well priced, sturdy, well designed and pretty loud considering it's only a 1x12. This is a great cab if you like 4x12's but don't like the bulk, although now that I have this cab loaded with an EVM12L it's pretty damn heavy!

It's a guitar cab with a frickin speaker. Probably one of the largest 1x12 speaker cabs around.

This cab can be amazing or frustrating, depnding on what you want. This is an absolutely huge sounding 1x12 cabinet. Probably the most exagerated sounding 1x12 on the planet. If that's what you want, great. I find it a bit frustrating for my taste. I prefer open back cabs that have a good balanced/neutral and large soundstage. This aint it folks. It's huge sounding alright, but extremely colored sounding. I actually put a Greenback in this thing and it hardly made any difference whatsoever in the sound. The cab has such a strong character, it's pretty much masks the sound of whatever speaker you put in this thing. In my book that aint cool. If you want a thick massive sound, this cab is great, but there is virtually no way to tame it.
So for me, this cab is only useful for certain things.

I've been playing since '75. I currently have a Boogie Mark IV, Traynor YCV40, Fender BF Vibro Champ, Reverend Goblin and a few different guitar types (335,LP,strat).
This cab is not versatile enough to use all the time for different styles/sounds. It's got an extremely strong fundamental character that pretty much overpowers whatever you run through it.
The other reviews show you how everyone is different and how these reviews can be decieving.

1x12 3/4 back tuned cabinet with one 12 inch Black Shadow 90 watt 8 ohm speaker. Has 2 1/4 inch jack, one for the input and one for a loop out for another cab.
Hey its a cab...a pretty big cab for a 1x12, not much difference from the Mesa 2x12 3/4 back cab. Really, you could fit 2x12's in this cab.
20-1/4in x 26-5/8in x 11-3/4in are the dimensions. Mesa says 60lbs but either someone spiked my coffee with steroids or its not 60 lbs.

I bought this cab to be used with a DC-5 widebody 1x12 combo (see my review on that) to open up the sound. This cab does exactly that. It made this combo sound bigger and more full of life. I'm not going to say sounds like a 4x12 or full stack but the DC-5 with this cab (basically using 2x12's) keeps up very well with my Marshall 2203 and 1960A 4x12. I have them side by side and run through a powered Whirlwind A/B selector box that lets me select either amp or both so its easy to compare the two.
I kid you not, this cab really has a pretty big sound to it. The DC-5 combo on its own really doesn't sound small either but with the addition of this cab, man it sounds really nice and full. I noticed I had to adjust my amp settings because it really added some bottom end. Not too much though, pretty musical, definitely distinctive Boogie!
I don't do the Nu Metal stuff, I play guitar not bass and I tune to E and Eb. I play Dream Theater, Randy Rhoads (RIP), Yngwie Malmsteen type of progressive music mostly but I do play all types of music. This cab sounds nice wheter playing clean or mean.

I've been playing since late 1981.
I own some 14,15 or 16 guitars, all Charvel, GMW and Jacksons. I use a combination of DiMarzio and Duncans. I use little effects, Boss SD-1, GE-7 delay and thats it, I'm old school, don't need a rack full of crap to achieve good tone, it comes from the soul, fingers, guitar and amp.
Honestly I was happy just getting the combo off the floor so I didn't have to bend down to adjust it:) Seriously though, this cab raised my combo a good 20 inches off the floor. It really added some depth and fullness to an already killer amp. I was surprised but the 90 Black Shadows, I was really looking for vintage 30's but the DC-5 has the same 90 watter so that made not think twice about getting another one in an extension cab. I may try one vintage 30 just to see how it sounds in this cab.
I run two amps in stereo and this compact set-up of the DC-5 and this 3/4 back 1x12 sound great paired with the Marshall 100 watter 2203 and 4x12 cab.
I would buy this cab if it were to get stolen, nice deal
I would recommend this cab for anyone who has a 1x12 or 2x12 combo to add some depth and bottom end to their sound. Although in my case it wasn't a super HUGE difference like some of the reviews, it is quite noticeable and a good improvement to the sound size, depth and bottom end.

This cabinet sounds HUGE! I was looking for a smaller cab to replace my Marshall 1960A cab. Compaired to the Boogie, my Marshall sounds thin and tinny. I was really amazed at the clarity and warmth that this 1x12 produced. It stays together at high volumes- which was a concern at first... but I don't worry about that anymore. My signal chain looks like this: ESP Eclipse (Duncan JB/'59)--> Mesa/Boogie Mark IV-->TQB 1x12 cab. The other guitar player in my band is still trying to figure out where I have the stack hidden! ;)

Overall, I am very please with this cab. I wish that I had discovered it years ago. I could have saved time and money with this. No more lugging 4x12 to gigs. If you want 4x12 sound in a lighter and easier to haul package, then you owe it to yourself to check out the TQB. Eventually I'd like to pick up a second TQB to run stereo. Rock on Mesa!

I primarily use this cab for home studio use but have had the pleasure to crank it up a few times in my friend's rehearsal studio. It handles volume suprisingly well for a little 1x12. For home recording, it's the most versatile single cabinet I own. As a reference, I also own two '74 Marshall 4x12's with greenback Celestions, a Mesa 2x12 closed back recto cab w/Celestion Vintage 30's, a Dr Z 1x12 open back cab w/ a Vintage 30 as well as several 1x12, 2x10, and 2x12 combo amps.
This cab has excellent low end & good high end response, and has a slight dip in mid-range frequencies. As a result, it's outstanding for recording clean and distorted rhythm tracks at low volumes. However, for recording lead parts I tend to rely more on my closed-back Marshall cabs as they tend to focus midrange tones better. The 90w Black Shadow isn't really my first choice in speakers, but it seems to be a good fit with this cab. I'm probably going to change it out at some point for a Tone Tubby Alnico 1x12 but there's no rush.
I play a variety of heads through this cab. This cab's a really nice match for my Dr. Z Route 66.

This is either my 7th or 8th Mesa cab. I also own/have owned a number of Mesa amps including a pair of Mark II C+ combos, a couple of Triaxis preamps, a couple of Simul 2:90 power amps, and a Blue Angel. I've never had a problem with their gear in the last 15 years I've been using it.

I mostly work with the crew in the Hollywood store and to be honest they're the only people I let anywhere near my amps. They've really helped me out over the years. I've also worked with a few of the people from the Petaluma factory and they've been very helpful, too.

I was looking for a versatile 1 x 12 and tried this 3/4 (TQ) back, side by side with a Mesa Boogie Thiele (with EVM12L) for a couple of hours. I really like the extra punch, tighter low end, and distortion reproduction of the closed-back Thiele, but the TQ was bigger sounding, especially at low volume. The TQ also enhances the breath and quality of the cheap Nano-Verb effect I use with my Custom K & M Analog Designs amp. The cab is on the dark side of warm sounding, but I think it's easier to brighten up a dark cab than to warm up a tinny one. So far, I am very pleased. There is enough punch with the 3/4 back that I am not regretting choosing the TQ over the Theile. The TQ sounds great on it's own, whereas I think you might have to add an open-back extension to the mix to compliment the Theile's good qualities.

I've played for over 30 years and have not heard a 1 x 12 sound this big. There's probably something out there, I've just not heard it. I think the 3/4 back design has as much to do with it as the C-90 speaker. I truly think any high quality speaker would sound great in this cab, but, for around 250.00, this IS a lot of bang for the buck.

I play modern rock when playing live in a band, jazz with my wife who plays piano, and blues when I'm home having beers. I use these stacked beneath a Rectoverb head during live use, and use a half-stack configuration for everything else. They seem to translate the tones that the Rectoverb puts out, quite impressively. They are never "woofy", or trebly, or sharp/shrill sounding. Always very accurate, tight tones from these easy to carry cabinets. I never miss the 4x12's. I wish I could have owned these before I began shlepping around two Peavey 4x12 cabinets years ago.

They get moved around quite a bit for gigs and practices. I take care of them very well, but their construction is so simple and solid, I'm sure they'd hold up if they fell off the back of a pickup truck (...well, maybe not that tough). As reliable as they come.

I've been playing steadily since 1978. I own/have owned so much crap. Like Mesa's combo amps, I wish they'd always put removeable casters on them, because Mesa's stuff ain't exactly lightweight. Although, these two speakers are small and light enough to easily carry compared to any 4x12 cabinet. You can easily afford two and run your rig in stereo. If they walked, I'd definately buy them again.
