The amp was built this year by hand by Bruce at Mission amps. It is a clone of an early 50's 5B4 V-front Super. It has no channel switching, no reverb, no tremolo, no master volume, no built in tuner or headphone jack but the features include the following...
-Handmade in the USA transformers (that are quite large!)
-Hand wired PTP in the USA board with top quality parts
-Top shelf pots, jacks, switches
-High quality current production and NOS tubes
-High quality (made in the USA) Weber speakers
-High quality handmade (in the USA) cab (made by Armadillo Amp works)
-KICK ASS TONE
So for features it gets a 10...features don't have to be "Bells and Whistles"!

The sounds of this amp is second to NONE.. If you are looking for super chimey clean sounds this is the wrong amp and if you are looking for super high gain this is the wrong amp ut if you want the best most natural overdrive ever to come from an amp up to what I would call mid gain crunch this is the ticket! The clean tone the amp does have is very good but because of the nature of the amp it doesn't last long (thats why I bought it!). The clean sound is nice and chewey and sounds amazing with a Strat or Tele it even has a nice sustain at low volumes, the more you turn up the volume control the more dirt gets added to the tone and you get a real beautiful very natural breakup that only comes from well made Tweed type amps, by the time you get the amp running hard you are getting a killer crunch tone that mixes with the speakers and the cab to make this great woody/reed like honk that is simply amazing!
This is one of the quitest amps I have ever heard (noise wise)...even cranked up with a Strat or Tele is is quite (the guityars do buzz a bit, but the amp is dead silent). Depending on which gutar I use and how I use it I can get a pretty wide range of tones out of the amp. Best of all though is how the amp reacts to your playing...his amp is very touch sensitive and alive sounding, the way I've been describing it to people is that it's l;ike you have to use the guitar to play the amp! It really is an extension of the guitar...the guitar, the pickup(s) the way you hold the pick the way you pluck the strings all shape the tone that comes oput of this amp.

I have not owned the amp very long but I can tell you this...this amp is beilt every bit as well (if not better in some cases) as a Tweed Fender from the 50's and those amps are still kicking it so I figure this beast will last at least 60 years or so! The transformers are very large and solid, the chassis is extremely solid and well made all the parts Bruce used are top notch and should last for years and years the cab is very well made so I don't see having any problems with this amp! As for giging with a backup I would prefer to have a backup for everything I use because you never know whats gonna happen but I don't see myself using the backup very often! This amp is built like a tank!

Bruce is a great guy to deal with...I called him up and we muct have talked on the phone 3 or 4 times plus exchanged close to a dozen or more emails by the time I finally made a decision...not one time did Bruce get upset with me, he was very kind the whole time! He was also able to answer every little question I had and everytime I called he answered the phone and returned emails in 24 hours or less. You can't ask for better support thn a guy like Bruce. I have spoken with Bruce 3 times since getting the amp and all 3 times he has asked how I like the amp, is it working ok, etc...he really does like what he does and he is damn good at it. Based on the way this amp came out and dealing with Bruce, he has a life long customer! In fact we've already been talking abou another amp as well as getting some work done to some of my other amps! Customer Support doesn't get any better than Bruce!

I have been playing guitar for over 10 years now and have been through loads of gear. Currently I have a few nice Historic Gibsons, a few nice Fenders and a handfull of other nice gutars and I plug into a vintage Fender Twin a mid 90's Fender Custom Vibrolux Reverb and a vintge Sound City 50+ through a Fane loaded 4x12 cab...Bruce's amp can hold it's own with all these amps and to be hoenst it's rapidly becoming my go to amp! I have owned lots if vintage Fender, Gibson, Marshall, Ampeg, Traynor, Primier, etc amps over the years and this amp can 100% hold it's one with all those!
I am already talking with Bruce about another amp (his new Aurora looks real nice) but if this amp were to get stolen I would for sure have to have nother one...truth is I want another one NOW!
I love everything about this amp. I talked with 2 other companies before ordering this amp (2 very big name companies) lets just say they were less than eager to build me an amp so they didn't, Bruce on the other hand was very helpful, did want to buold me an amp and he did...Bruce built me the best amp I have ever owned...and I've owned a lot!
This is the first time I have given 10's in all areas but it is well deserved!
