Bought this kit awhile ago. had nothing but problems. diagram is the worst diagram ever drawn! even showed it to 2 respectible amp makers and they could not believe how badly drawn it was. they even said they would have a hard time building a amp from Mojo supplied diagram.

Finally got it working after having to re-do the bias section values. sounds good, but not after a lot of headaches.

I have been playing since 1973. If this amp were lost or stolen I would not buy another from Mojo. Bummer is I wish I would have bought a kit from Metro or Ceriatone.

This PTP amp kit consists of a JTM45 chassis with turret board, carbon comp resistors, Mallory 150 caps JJ preamp and rectifier tubes and Svetlana EL34 output tubes, and a correct sized second series Marshall Bluesbreaker style cabinet made out of 13 ply Baltic birch like the originals. Speakers selected were MOJO Brittish Vintage 30H 30 watters. These speakers are made in America from source components made in England (Possibly Celestion?). Anyhow, they're Celestion G12H30 knock offs and they look and sound exactly like Celestions.
The amp itself is a very exacting clone of a Marshall JTM45, not the RI but the original. All component values on the board in the kit match the old style JTM45 schematic to a *T*. I've used Groove Tubes KT66s and the SED *Svetlana* EL34s for output tubes with success but the KT66s were a very poorly matched set making it impossible to bias them both correctly with the one bias pot. Still, they sounded great. The EL34s that came with the kit matched perfectly however, and help the amp give up a great variety of good sounds.

I had the kit built by a good friend who does amazing work with electronics in general and guitar amps are becoming his specialty. The initial shipment of the kit was missing several items right off the bat and, later as the build progressed, incorrect component values were found in some of the resistors and other small pieces were found to be missing. All of these minor issues were taken care of in a timely manner by the good folks at MOJO so, there really were no major delays getting the kit finished at all. They were very friendly to deal with.
I'm playing a 2003 Gibson LP Standard with stock Burstbucker Pro pickups into this amp and the sound is quite authentic to JTM45 sounds. I was hoping to get Eric Clapton with the Bluesbreakers tones and this amp ante's up that classic tone in a frightningly similar manner! Even with EL34s it has that sound. AC/DC is more than in there also. This is a much better recreation of JTM 45 tones than are possible with the stock Marshall RI amps. You want that sweet old style Marshall sound, get the kit and build it or have it built by someone who knows amps and you'll have that sound. I am more than shocked at how good this amp has turned out. It also runs very quiet, vanishingly low hiss and almost no hum when not playing. Much quieter than ANY Marshall I've owned in the past. Yep, I had it built good! I'll give a 10 in this category because Mojo really earned it. The design and selected components and transformers and killer recreation of a Marshall Bluesbreaker cab are all first rate. Great value for the money

I'd rate this thing as more than reliable 'cause I know firsthand how the work building it was carried out. I'm sure the quality parts used wont fail either.

Pretty good customer support, they were always friendly and helpful when we called them, and happily sent us the missing or corrected pieces we needed without delay. They must be just getting into the kit business (or at least it seems like it) because this order took nearly 3 weeks to ship initially and they still didn't have someone go over EVERYTHING and make sure all was in order. They are aware of the problem and assured me that they are taking steps to make the kit assembly prior to shipment run smoother and more accurate. I have no doubt they are.

I've been playing for nearly 25 years and have been lusting the early Marshall sounds for a long time. This kit amp sounds closer to that type of sonic heaven than anything else I've owned or played through anywhere. If this amp was lost or stolen I'd order another kit exactly like this one, without blinking, and have the same guy build it all over again. I may soon buy another kit from MOJO and have it done up in the head JTM45 version and build a 4x12 cab to go with it.
