Basic features. Bass, treble, volume, bright switch on the normal channel. Bass, treble, volume, gain, reverb, mid-boost switch on the distortion channel. Extension speaker jack and line-out on the back panel. Foot switch, for channel switching and reverb, came with the amp and works very well. 50 watts of tube power is more than enough for the gigs I play. It's about the same size and weight as a Blues Jr.(the cover for that fits this perfectly) but it has three times the power. Still had the original speaker and that sounds great. A great find for what will surely become a classic amp for under $500.00.

This amp is in the Fender tube mold, which makes sense since it was Leo's design. Using the one 12AX7 pre-amp tube for the distortion channel gives it just enough punch to give it some grind. Otherwise, the pre-amp section is solid state - not a bad thing at all. The 6L6 power tubes give it plenty of power for all styles. I play classic rock and this amp is great. I can use the distortion channel, but I use either a Tube Screamer or a Digitech DF-7 modeling distortion pedal for more gain than this puts out on its' own. I use Fender Strats, a Schecter C-1 Classic or Les Paul Studio and they all sound great with this amp. The clean sound, all the way up the dial is what I was after and it's what I've got. Not noisy at all and that is saying something for an amp built about 1984!

I bought this amp used from Daddy's Junky Music. I knew it was built in the eighties, so I bought the "extra protection" warranty and had them go over it. After changing all the tubes and cleaning it up, it sounds great and I have no doubt it will be very reliable as all the old Fenders I have had were.

Too bad Music Man amps went out of business. Something built like this today would be considered of the "boutique" variety!

This is one of those deals where you walk in your local music store, not expecting or needing to buy an amp but something catches your eye. I knew the reputation of Music Man amps and their closeness in sound to the old Fender amps I used to own. I wanted something smaller than the Hot Rod DeVille I have and something with tubes, as opposed to the Cyber Deluxe I have used for gigging the past six years. I love the clean, bright tone and the overall quiet nature that the amp has. It's loud but you can really control that. If it were lost or stolen, I'd be crushed because these things are going to keep increasing in value. So, I'm getting a Hot Rod Deluxe for gigging purposes and leaving this one for practice and home use.

Excellent for blues....! This amp is slowly becoming revered as the blues amp to have. The clean channel is punchy and articulate with no mush what so ever! Great clean Fender tone with better clarity.

Great tone. Reliable. Easy to carry. What else do you need. I just wish they still made this amp. You have to scour eBay, Craig's List or the Pawn Shops to fine one of these babies.

Two channels with reverb all footswitchable. Amp was made in the early 1980's. Rated at 50 watts RMS...frankly my Fender 57 Twin, which is rated at 40 watts is much louder. Volume wise this amp is really in the range of a 30 watt all tube amp. This is a good thing because the amp blooms nicely at a reasonable volume level. Unless your playing Arena's this amp has plenty of power. This is a backwards hyrid in that the power section is all tube 6L6's and the preamp is mainly solid state with one 12AX7 for distorition.
I should note here that the distortion channel is useless. It is one of the worst dirty tones I've ever heard in my life. With that for my purposes this amp is truly a single channel amp and therefore I give it a low rating for features.

Highly recommended for blues players!!!
Again, this amp is very limited in what it can do. I think the clean channel can create some of the most beutiful clean blues tones out there. If you dial it in right it sounds like a cross between a Super Reverb and a Dumble...yes, I can reference this amp against a Dumble. It is very easy to do that clean SRV thing. You can dial in a bunch of familier Clapton tones as well. If your looking for a killer, one of a kind blues amp I highly recommend finding one.
Understand that this amp is voiced very bright which is intended to allow the player to take full advantage of the passive electronics on an electric guitar. What this means is that your bridge pickup is basically useless with this amp as you'll get that icepick to the ear thing going on. You have to use the neck pickup and roll back on the volume and tone knobs. (Works for both strat and les paul type guitars. After getting used to the amp you can open up the volume for leads and roll back for rythem playing. The tone knob can be used to add or reduce brightness as well. The clean channel truly sounds amazing once you learn how to use it appropriately.
I'll reiterate that the dirty channel is useless. But, the clean channel is worth the $600-800 these amps go for. If you're a blues guy looking for great tone and want something unique you won't be disappointed. The blues tone is addictative and you'll keep playing and playing.

I bought the amp for $150 and it was totally dead. I spent $150.00 on tubes and labor to get the amp fixed up and it's run perfect for at least 200 hours worth of usage. Apparently, there was a few loose wires or something. I should note that I have a friend who's been playing regulary through a HD60 for years and he's never had a problem. I should also note that the RD50 in my opinion does sound better than the HD60. There's something special about 6L6 tubes when it comes to blues tone.

I've been playing for 20+ years and have owned almost everything and have come to prefer Victoria amps for they're pure smoothness and richness of tone. This is a one of a kind amp which I bought purely for the pleasure of it's clean tone which is very much black face sounding.
Lead channel is useless. If you really do neade a dual channel amp look elsewhere.
I'd replace it if it where lost or stolen.
Highly recommended for blues players only. If you're looking for great blues tone this amp is it. This amp is also becoming collectable due a few famous guitar heros who used this amp.

I bought this amp new in 1982 and every part is absolutely original today, even the tubes. I believe these amps were only made between '82 and '84. This amp has two channels: clean and limiter. The clean channel has a normal/bright switch and a foot switch for reverb and distortion. The limiter channel has volume, treble, bass, gain, and reverb knobs. This amp is great for pretty much everything but metal, and will fill up a club or small hall. I play jazz with it on my Gibson ES175, and blues, R&R, R&B, with a Telecaster.

I love the warm, fat tone of this amp, and there is no noise. The clean channel is beautiful for jazz and does not distort at any volume which I play (I never need more than 5 or 6) This amp is LOUD. The distortion is great up to 6 or 7 then can get muddy. I like to set the distortion and reverb around 7; it gives a clean, biting sound.

two channels. normal and bright switch. reverb on the overdrive channel. pretty standard stuff

Amp sounds pretty good. I use it as back up or in conjunction with my Fender Blues Junior. As stated, its pretty loud. The cleans cut through quite well. The overdrive channel is pretty muddy, but i just turn the bass down and when the amp is turned up a bit, it clears up. I've played out with it and it definitely holds its own.
I have three guitars, a gibson custom shop non reverse firebird with 3 mini hums, gibson les paul, and epiphone sheraton. the sheraton sounds brilliant through the clean channel. the firebird is amazing through the dirty channel. the les paul sounds pretty good on both as well.
i play 90s brit rock style stuff. it works fairly well for it. like i stated earlier, i use my blues junior more often, but this definitely covers what the blues junior cant.

I really like it. Its small and loud. It has a pretty nice sound that I really like. The clean is very clean and the dirty channel is pure rock and roll. It's no metal amp, so metalheads be weary. i've been playing for six years and currently front a gigging rock band. I really dig this amp. When i have both of my amps running together, I get a very full sound and that is what i wanted it for. if it were lost, i dont know if i'd get another. i got a GREAT deal on this one and theyre not all too common to the chances of me running by another one with a good price is rather slim. but, if it were stolen and i could get another one for a similar price, i'd definitely grab it.
my complaints
reverb only on one channel
clean channel has no mid control
dirty channel is a bit too muddy
it's a great amp. if you run by one and have a chance to get it, you should seriously consider it. overall, i got a great deal on a great amp.

Great clean. Better than great clean. The overdrive channel seems to really depend on the tube used. I've tried several, and the 7025 versions of the 12AX7 seem to sound better. A hotter more robust tube works best. The later versions of the amp have significant modifications to the overdrive channel that improve it's sound including a mid shift. If the original speaker is toasted, I would not replace it with a british cone speaker such as Celestion (which are now made in China) because the amp can be a bit middy. An Eminence Red White and Blues or Texas Heat gove the amp a well balanced sound.

1982 Music Man RD 112. Blonde!!! she is hot. I have been looking for her for years! My buddy had one back in grade school and it blew me away how loud it was. Find one with an EV12L in it and the cops will be at your door in a heart beat. These are Leos best designed amps ever and I think his last. The clean chan is cleaner than clean with a solid state pre and the gain chan kicks ass w/ a 12x7 pre. 2 main 6L6's. I use a Pro-co rat and have it on all the time. Distortion on the Rat at 9 Oclock and the vol and filter all the way to the right. This way you have some gain on the clean chan and when you switch to the gain chan WATCH OUT!!!!. Distortion on amp around 5-6. It has an external out in the back and sounds great through a 4x12. The reverb is soooo liquid and long and All Fender. The amp is really light but packs a punch . Did I mention this thing is LOUD! I am a Marshall man with a 1968 Superbase, 1978 MKII & 1974 MKII heads. I will probably A/B between the Music man and one of these heads. The RD 112 reminds me of the MesaBoogie MK series at like half the price back in the day and I think that was what Leo's intention was when making this amp. He nailed it.

I use Fender Teles and Strats and Gibsons. I play Rock, Blues and Metal. this amp is not for you metal players. You can get some killer harmonics with this amp by adding a stomp box, but the distortion in the amp is great on it's own. This is great for out door gigs becasue the amp is a loud one. The amp is very, very quiet. (Like Fender tube amps). The clean chan is very, very clean and the Disortion chan is incredible

80's light weight plenty loud amplifier for most applications. Nice clean channel with a good drive channel as long as you keep the gain under 6. I use this amp for carting around to practice and some play dates. Plenty of power especially with the 2X10 extension cabinet I had made to go with it. Really like the power plug in back for plugging in my stomp box board.

I play a tele, mostly blues, country, rock. Quiet amp, no buzz or weird tube sounds. I like the sound of my Fender Deville better, but this is close enough considering the weight difference. When we play out I usually use the Fender, but day in day out this is alot easier to lug around. Plenty of usable sounds with this amp.
