I got this amp to use in a surf/blues band. It definitely does the job, it's not "feature rich" by today's standards (but very good in it's day!) but everything works well together to deliver the goods - either a nice rich/sparkling clean or a vintage grind. The "phazor" is pretty cool if you like that. I don't use it, but cool nonetheless. The reverb is just fine. The EV 15" speaker is a really nice match. It's a great package and really pretty easy to move around. One thing of interest, the amp sounds best (to me) with the speaker impedance switch on 4ohms even just with the built-in EV15, and definitely if you add an extension cab. The bright and deep switches are effective and I like both. The front panel line in/out (two different level options) are good ideas, but require custom cabling. For my purposes, this isn't an issue. The schematic and manual, readily available online, show how this feature works. 100W rated (amazing with just two EL34 output tubes) and it does have some serious smack to it. Works great without a mic up to larger outdoor spaces or big halls.

Sound Quality : 9
This is a "vintage" sounding amp with good range and plenty . First, because of the nice phat tube output stage (EL34 on mine, a bonus in my opinion). Second, because the voicing of the overdrive is more grindy/ballsy than fuzzy, and never gets all that distorted even full-out, although obviously the hotter your pickups, the more grind you'll get. This amp works great for old rock, blues, surf, etc., and likes pedals. The EV speaker works best with clean to moderate gain sounds. If you want to go brutal, you can hook up an extension cab with different speakers. I've used 112 open and closed, 410 and each sounds good in the right setting. Oh, it's nice and quiet too. I'm giving a 9 for sound only because I have a Fuchs ODS that is in a different realm, that's a 10. But compared to most amps I've had, it's in the very top group.

Reliability : 10
Can't comment on the reliability except that it's great for me. I bet I'm the nth owner of this great amp, and it works faultlessly. It's lasted a good while already. Old Leo Fender and Tom Walker designs have stood the test of time.

Customer Support : No Opinion
There's a great supportive online community around these amps. That's great. Also, the designs are such that any good amp tech can work on these and keep them like they were meant to be.

Play semi-pro and have had a lot of gear over the years. A lot of amps have come and gone. This one is a goodie. It's a great solution for a gig when you don't want to take a (bigger) pile of gear.

Has all the standard Music Man features and a great sounding Phazer. The reverb is typical Fender spring reverb and sounds great. Deep and Bright switches sound great and always stay on. It uses (2) 6L6 tubes in the power amp and a solid state pre-amp. At 100 watts it has pleanty of clean power for just about any situation.

Sound Quality : 9
I believe Leo designed this amp for pedal steel and was one of the most expensive models at $595.00. This amp sounds fantastic with my 1990 Fender Am. Strat especially in the neck position. The 15" Electro Voice speaker delivers a deep bottom end with a tight crisp top end. I keep the Deep and Bright switches on all the time and I actualy have to turn down the treble because it can get too bright. I play in a 5 piece band that plays classic to current rock covers (www.theurge2rock.com). It is very quiet and I usually keep the master volume at 3 or less. It responds very well to all my effects.

Reliability : 9
Music Man amps are built to last and have proven themselves over the years. I never play without a backup amp but I am very confident that it will not fail.

I have been playing for over 20 years and have a lot of vintage gear. This amp is by far my favorite amp and I will never part with it. 15" Speaker MM amps are getting hard to find. I will buy more MM amps and would like to get a 410 model someday. I believe this amp will be one of those rare hard to find amps. Who knows maybe it will be like the Vibroverb?

The amp was made in the U.S during the 70's. It's a 100watt balsy tube amp. I actually got this amp for pretty cheap from the original owner; $325. I love this amp. The sound is very reminicent of a fender blackface, but the gain that it has totally gives you the whole Hendrix vibe. I think it's a pretty rare amp because it has a built in phaser, and it's the only model that musicman made with a phaser, I always see the rp112 but I never see the rp115.

It sounds great with my American Strat that I modified with a Semour Duncan Screamin Deamon high output pickup in the bridge. The sound is very reminicent of a fender blackface, but the gain that it has totally gives you the whole Hendrix vibe. I wouldn't recomend this amp for heavy distortion, cause the speaker just can't handle it. But it is a great clean amp, the clean channel doesn't get distorted at high volumes. and it's also nice when it has a soft distortion or blues distortion. I used this amp constantly for recording and giging, and for the style that I play (melodic punk and rock) I only use it for clean sounds only and I have an Sunn S100 head and Randall cab for distortion, but thats a different story. The only way I've gotten a good heavy distortion out of the amp is with a boss metal zone and a weird position with "blue" condenser mic.

Reliability : 10
never broken down on me once, I replace the tubes every six months and its never given me trouble.

This amp was probably made in the late 1970s and it is quite rare to find a Phasor in a 1x15" combo. I am presuming that it was made with Pedal Steel or possibly electric piano in mind - it sounds great with a Wurlitzer EP200. It has the same features as the 112RP with Reverb, Hi and Low channels, Phasor with double footswitch.

Sound Quality : 9
I use this amp for quietish bass gigs and sounds sweet with my 1960 Fender Deluxe Bass (which became the Jazz Bass later that year). I also use it with a Wurlitzer EP200 and occasionally with a RFoland Digital Piano. For guitar it seems more suited to a Telecaster than to, say, a Les Paul or an SG

Reliability : 10
There are fairly recent valves - that's what we call tubes in the UK!
This amplifier is ultra reliable and hasn't ever let me down.

I have never needed any major work

Overall Rating : 10
I just think that this is a versatile amp, but I wish that it had an enclosed back to suit Bass Guitar more. It also seems OK with active instruments.
