I consulted with the local guitar shop and bought a simple A/B pedal. Now I have channel switching! This makes the amp super-versatile. As for the other features? Basic guitar amp. It does have the Phasor and that is kind of funky and cool. Different.

The amp vintage is "1970s" and I am thinking (due to the funky phaser) about 1976-1977 or so. It's black-face and just looks about 1977.

I recommend other non-switchable 2-channel amp owners invest in a (battery-powered) A/B switcher. No-brainer.

Well, the sound out from MusicMan amps is legendary. The 212-75 is no exception. I LOVE the tone out of this amp. The previous owner installed Celstion Blues, and I'm totally tripping on that sound. It can be a little bottom heavy, so I am thinking that a 4x10" cab might be just perfect down the line. But the sound is totally killer.

Mostly, having just got the amp, I go with "10" on the mids and just a smidge of treble. But that changes for different songs. I get blown away by the sound, which when set up right, really comes from the guitar, fingers and pick. Know what I mean? This amp, well it "amplifies" what I play, or what I intend to play. And that's awesome in my book.

The only thing I would do is add a 2nd cabinet with maybe 2x10" or 4x10" speakers. That's about all I feel I need for sound.

Built like a tank. New tubes at some point (not me).

Not a concern.

Came up through the apprentice world as a keyboard player. Got into guitars as a hobby and because guitars are cheaper than synths. I play a super-tele with 3 pickups (Gibson humbucker at neck). I play all sorts of styles - mostly from the Rock'n'Roll camp or perspective.

This is one amazing amp and it does what I need it to do.

I was lucky and thank the goddess of music and chaos on this one.

The day I bought the amp, on the way home my trusty VW van caught fire and died right before my eyes. I scrambled to get the amp out of the back before it went up. After the firetruck came I had to hoof-it across a huge shopping center parking lot carrying this heavy amp to get to the insurance office and get a taxi home. The 212-75 and I have bonded now for life. This amp ain't going anywhere without me, and vice-versa. It rocks. So do I now.

This is actually a Bass combo, but it sounds great on guitar. It doesn't have a lot of features, and that suits me just fine. It has two inputs for lead and two imputs for Bass. The lead input has a 3 way EQ and a bright/normal switch. The bass input side has the same 3 way EQ and bright/normal switch, along with a deep/normal switch. Thats really about it. Very simple, but thats just the way I like it. If your looking for something with lots of nifty gadgets and doodads, then don't bother, but this is still a great amp in my opinion.

This amp has a wonderfully smooth and sweet tube sound. I use any combination of pickups with it. The amp is wonderfull for Jazz,Rock, and anything where you like a sweet, warn, and smooth sound. It doesn't have distorion on it, but it does okay with a processor or pedal. Chorus sounds fantastic and Reverb and delay are great. Distortion is pretty good, but it mostly depends on the pedal you use. High tech FX aren't the forte here, but if you want high-tech, then you shouldn't be looking for an amp that went under in the 80's.

Reliability : 10
I bought this amp for $50 dollars from my high school music department, after it had sat without use for quite a long time. So far it has been very reliable and I have had absolutely no problems with it whatsoever. This amp has been around for decades and I've heard nothing but good things about MusicMan amps. I can crank it up and play loud as I want and never have to worry at all. And boy does it get loud too. I have never heard 75 watts produce so much raw, pure, unadultrated, beefed up sound.

Customer Support : No Opinion
The company went under a long time ago. Its very unfortunate because they had such quality gear. I haven't had to worry about service and its so reliable that I doubt if I will any time soon.

I've only been playing for about 3 years now, and my only other amp is a Peavey practice amp with a 10 watts and a 6" speaker. If I ever lost this amp and I could get an identicle replacement, I would do it. I would pay 10 times as much as I did originally for an amp like this. I love the awesome sound it has and the power that it has. I got this amp for $50 dollars from my high school music department, and it was the best $50 dollars I have ever spent in my life. If only we could all be so lucky as to find a once in a lifetime oppurtunity as I did.
