Standard Blues Jr. controls with circuit modifications by Jim Price at Omega Amps. The "fat switch" now is more of a boost and doesn't change the tonal characteristics as much. The overall sound of the amp is much improved and there is pleanty of power on tap to play a small club. Jim changed the master volume pot which makes the master volume more versitile and enables you to dial in your favorite sound from the bedroom to a small venue.

Sound Quality : 10
A standard Blues Jr is a good little amp due to the tube circuitry, small size, and light weight. Jim's mods take this good little amp and make it GREAT! It goes from black face sparkling clean to thick, rich overdrive with tons of sustain and harmonics. The distortion is just right for me as Jim asked what my playing style was before performing any mods. I described what I was looking for and he nailed it! This amp blows away my Mesa Boogie and I have a hard time turning it off.

Reliability : No Opinion
I shipped the chassis only to Omega Amps for the mods and I had an issue when I reassembled the amp and fired it up. I don't believe this was any fault of Jim as I think static electricity shrted a circuit. Jim was great (see comments below) as he repaired the circuit and returned the chassis quickly. No other issues with either the standard Blues Jr, or Omega Amp mods.

Customer Support : 10
I can't say enough about Jim Price! He is great to talk to, very informative, and seems to read your mind on what sound you are looking for. After several e-mails and phone calls Jim was able to give me the amp of my dreams! I now have a small, light weight tweed amp that sound like a Fender Twin wide open. Jim guarantees satisfaction and he repaird my static problem quickly and was a joy to tlk to and work with.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing about 30 years and I own a 58 Gretsch, 86 Alvarez Yairi 6 string, 86 Alvarez Yairi 12 string, 62 reissue Strat, reissue Epiphone Riviera, and a Samick Greg Bennet Royal with Lindy Fralin humbuckers. The mods Jim performed work well with all of the electric guitars and bring out tones I could not get out of my Mesa Boogie Rocket Reverb. If something happened to this amp I would have Jim perform his magic again as I could not live without it for very long.
